  1. Hi Scottie;
    I had some thoughts today about book banning and obscenity. Is it obscene to write about sex, or is it more to pretend it doesn’t happen? Is it obscene to write about contraceptives and sexual disease, or more to allow someone to find these things out the hard way? Is it obscene to write about homosexual relationships, or is it more obscene to allow someone live in despair that they are “broken”?
    It bothers me having grown up Christian that there are some out there who would rather these latter situations. It bothers me that a Christian would stand before others and declare that God could not have a creation that is not heterosexual, that he would stand before others and caste someone to the so-called pits of hell for being different, that he would stand before others and accept hatred and violence be done to others for being other than heterosexual.
    I know there are many who are not Christian, and I really have no problem with that. I cannot argue the observable reality that innocents suffer, that the violent and abusive prevail. Still, I think I will always believe, deep down, that there is something more to this life. It was how I was raised, how I was given introduction to the world. And perhaps that is what bothers me the most about these self-righteous haters and bigots: they are not only engendering hate and ignorance, they are coloring the very world these little minds will view their reality for the rest of their life. And though their minds will grow, mature, and see how horrible it is to hate and judge and do violence to others — hopefully, yet they will always be stained by their miseducation.
    My love and respect to all who rise above.
    Hugs!

    1. I still consider myself a Christian, and I feel the exact same way. The funny thing is I can get along just fine with atheists and non-Christians…it’s the people who supposedly follow the teachings of Jesus, but have nothing but hate and judgment to offer to others, who really anger me.

      1. Hello EUROBRAT. Sorry for the late reply. I can understand your feelings on that. I am an atheist and a naturalist, yet I can get along with religious people and with people who believe in the supernatural. The people I can not get along with and who I dislike are the haters, the bigots, the racists, the ones that feel only they have a right to live their lives, or the ones who feel they have the right to control how other people live. Be well, hugs. Scottie

    2. Hello Randy. It is sad that the sect of haters has soiled the name of all Christians. It is hard for people who are targeted to see good any anyone who claims membership in the group that is persecuting them. Likewise, it is the same for police. I am sure there are wonderful police, maybe half of all police or even more, but the racist bigots that terrorize the groups they hate using their authority and badge to get away with it makes all police suspect. It is very unfortunate because there are a lot of nice and even wonderful religious people. Same with police, I imagine, but I have yet to meet one.

      As for the poison these right wing fundamentalist Christian nationalist are trying to force into children’s minds, they will get away with it and raise a whole lot of the next generation to be Westboro Baptist’s haters like Phelps did to his kids for two generations until the third refused to accept his hate. But they only broke free of the hate because society around them wouldn’t accept it. What would have happened if they lived in a red state like Florida? They might still be members of a hate church and teaching their kids that hate. That is what is so terrifying in what these red state republican are doing with these Christian Taliban laws. They are indoctrinated the kids so deep they will struggle to free themselves and like the homeschooling crowd will pass that hate and misinformation on to their own children. I don’t understand the hate of people like this, but it scares me we have to have the same civil rights fights that we thought were won decades ago. Hugs
