Fortunately, there’s a hero waiting in the wings: the e-cargo bike. Not only can these bad boys deliver packages in urban environments just as quickly (and sometimes faster) than delivery vans, they take up far less space and are much less likely to cause pedestrian deaths. Companies like Amazon, DHL, and UPS are using them in several European cities, but American cities haven’t followed suit.
In this video, we explore why that is, and lay out some of the big steps American cities would need to take to join the e-bike delivery revolution.
I’ve been so happy to see 4 new EV postal vehicles right here in my little town! Only thing is, they make no sound, while the old ones sound like a small lawn mower, so you always know when the mail’s coming. I can live with checking more than once, though, to save some gas and emissions!

Hi Ali. Yes I am excited about all the modern changes. Maybe we will get the fun future world that the cartoons and Sci-Fi promised us. I just don’t get the almost hysterical anger and effort to stop the progress to electric hybrids or fully electric vehicles. If the fuel companies diversified they could profit from the shift. There will still be a need for oil products but we don’t need to use it for every transportation. Even ships have found it is better to have electric drive motors for the propellers powered by diesel engines. But there are always going to be some people who say it was that way when I was … and it should stay that way without change because I was comfortable and understood it. Just like people who can not accept the progression in medical science and sexuality / gender. Hugs. Scottie
