I realize this doesn’t really help anything, but I’m so, so sorry this is the direction our country is heading in. Hope you know there are a lot of us out here who don’t agree with this kind of bigotry. Please hang in there. (And yes, Mike Johnson is despicable…on so many levels)

Hi Eurobrat. It does help. It is always good to know we in the LGBTQIA have allies and friends to stand with us in the battle for equality and civil rights.
The thing is the new Speaker of the House of Representatives is a die hard Christian Nationalist Taliban. Like all of his kind, he wants to force his brand of fundamentalism on everyone. He doesn’t want democracy, he wants a theocracy. If he has his way, the US will become Iran with moral police and the government trying to force every one to believe and act as the church demands. The role of women and blacks will be returned to a time before they had freedoms, had equal rights. Women will again be property of men, subservient and forced to raise his kids, clean his house, get his permission to travel or spend money. Forget working outside the home. As for black people, well separate and not equal was once the rule of the land and these people want that time back. As for people like me and the rest of the LGBTQIA we would be illegal, in hiding because if we were found out we could lose our jobs and homes. No security clearances, no government jobs, free to be assaulted if suspected by the public and police. Kids who were different or LGBTQIA would be forced into conversion camps / therapy that would be required.
See to these Christian white men the past was wonderful, grand, and the golden age. Well for them it was. For everyone else it was not, it was mean, unfair, unpleasant, and hard. Most of us do not want to return to that time, to those days. Most of the population enjoys the freedoms and equality of the modern age. I wonder at Christian women, the wives of these men, why do they want to return to a time when they had little to no rights. Then I remember it is for their god. They remain just as deluded as to what their deity wants as their husbands do. It is god’s will. So even if it is bad for them it makes Jesus smile. Hugs

Oh, I agree 100% about what he wants. I’ve spent some time listening to Mike Johnson’s podcast (barf, I’m not sure why I do this to myself). It’s ultra-religious and he definitely wants a theocracy. His wife is on the podcast with him–she sounds like a zombie or a Stepford Wife, and repeats everything he says mindlessly. I think you are correct–she thinks she’s earning a special place in Heaven by doing this. Sigh….
