Hello to Those Who Would Lead; By Randy

Hello to Those Who Would Lead;

I am confused sir and madam:

  • You told me I lived in the Land of the Free but seek to force me to pray to your God.
  • You told me I lived in the Land of the Brave, but you fear the love of two men, two women.
  • You told me I lived in a land of laws, yet you refuse to hold the powerful to them.
  • You told me not to ask what my country can do for me, but you take hand over fist.
  • You told me how mighty our military stand, yet you undermine, pauper, and deny the soldiers.
  • You told me how great my country is, yet restrict education, price me out of healthcare, refuse school lunch programs, deport the homeless, ignore the mentally ill.
  • You told me to love my country, then told me to hate my neighbor because he believes differently, speaks differently, dresses differently, loves differently, lives differently.
  • You told me my country loves me, but I think you are a liar.
[Intro]
La-da-da-da-da, la-da-da-da-da
Da-da-da

[Verse 1]
We are searchlights, we can see in the dark
We are rockets, pointed up at the stars
We are billions of beautiful hearts

And you sold us down the river too far

[Chorus]
What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
What about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
What about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
What about love? What about trust?
What about us?

[Verse 2]
We are problems that want to be solved
We are children that need to be loved
We were willin’, we came when you called
But man, you fooled us
Enough is enough, oh

[Chorus]
What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
What about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
Oh, what about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
Oh, what about love? What about trust?
What about us?

[Post-Chorus]
Oh, what about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
What about love? What about trust?
What about us?

[Bridge]
Sticks and stones, they may break these bones
But then, I’ll be ready, are you ready?

It’s the start of us, waking up, come on
Are you ready? I’ll be ready
I don’t want control, I want to let go
Are you ready? I’ll be ready
‘Cause now it’s time to let them know
We are ready, what about us?

[Chorus]
What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
So, what about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
Oh, what about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
Oh, what about love? What about trust?
What about us?

[Outro]
What about us?
What about us?
What about us?
What about us?
What about us?
What about us?

        1. Well, you check her talent; that’s sort of a subjective thing. When I first heard/heard of her, I thought she was another girl pop star. But, she’s got a pair of lungs and a great voice, similar to that of Christina Aguilera. But they’re different people, though both good people. Back to P!nk, here are some links to check out when you feel like it: https://www.looktothestars.org/celebrity/pink , https://www.britannica.com/biography/Pink-American-singer-and-songwriter (this should take you to the bottom of the article, where they list the issues she supports,) https://msmagazine.com/2022/08/08/pink-new-song-irrelevant-abortion-music/ .

A story I read about her once told how her daughter thought P!nk had a “squishy” belly after having her 2d child. She said she was proud of that, even though many had pressured her to get it fixed so she could wear her costumes to perform. She did not get it fixed, and she did wear her costumes, did her acrobatics, and took care of her family. She’s got that attitude, and having made some money, has the power to back it up. I’m glad she does good things! And I like her music. I just love a recent tune she does, “I’m Never Gonna Not Dance Again.” I have adopted that one!
