ABC NEWS: ‘Traumatized’: Man speaks out after arrest by Alabama police officer goes viral

So I am in the pain doctors office as an emergency visit. Seems they screwed up after my last appointment and didn’t send my prescriptions to the pharmacy. The only way to fix it is another visit because of Florida’s laws on controlled medications. Sucks my whole day is screwed up. Hugs. Scottie

    1. Hi Michael. Yes, but what made it worse is Florida is draconian about any narcotic since the opioid crisis that the civilian legislators figured they knew more than doctors who trained for decades to dispense the medications. I understand why the provider messed up. She was covering her patients and another doctors who did not come in to work. And some people do not have understanding. She was running very late that day, and one woman came out into the hall to scream that she had been waiting an hour and was fed up, someone had better see her now! I don’t know how some people feel they can do that, especially in Florida where the laws are so strict even for morphine one of the best researched and known pain medications you have to be seen every two months (down from three months which the lawmakers figured made them look tougher on drug abuse) by the provider and where to get the pharmacy to fill a “controlled substance” you need to call in that day, the date and time you pick it up is recorded to make sure the prescription which is only allowed for one month by law is not ordered a day too soon., you have to show ID and verify it is you in writing, which gets entered into a state database and also sent to the doctor. If the pharmacy doesn’t have it to fill that day you are shit out of luck, you go without. Also, you have to do a mandatory repeated urine drug test several times a year, making sure only the prescribed drugs are in your system and not those dreaded illegal ones. Plus yearly sign a statement that you wouldn’t get pain medication from any other doctor, that you wouldn’t use any over the counter pain medications. And the state made it illegal for the doctors to prescribe the muscle relaxer that worked best for me that I was on for years. Now I have to have one that works only half as well, so I have to take bimonthly muscle injections. Back to the visit last month, I was next and I heard the staff tell her the provider would be with her soon, there were unforeseen delays. She wouldn’t stop until the doctor came out and spoke to her, telling her she would be there with her as soon as possible, but she had to take people who had been waiting longer first. I had been there longer with no complaint. When she came in the room I could see the stress on her, she is an older woman who could retire but has not yet. She had gone to part-time but due to staff shortage came back full time temporarily. She and I have known each other since 2009 and I know how good and loving to her patients she is. She is the only one of my doctors I have opened up to about my abuse and she has helped me with it. So we both rushed my visit.

On this last visit she apologized to me as she gave me a hug, something she does at the start and end of the visits since she learned how important they are to me. But things happen. And I had been pushed on to her schedule when she did not have a spot because of it. So it was extra work for her.

The fault of this belongs to the state of Florida republicans who all want to look tough on drug crimes and so thinking they are trained doctors demand rules that make life very difficult for the disabled, those in severe pain, and the providers who treat them. Hugs. Scottie

  1. Again and again … the COLOR OF SKIN. Even IF Micah Washington wasn’t pure as the driven snow, he didn’t deserve the treatment he received. P.S. What would you like to bet that this lady cop goes to church and professes “Jesus-love” — but only on one day each week.

    1. Hi Nan. 100% correct on all counts. My question is this, is the constant reporting and media attention on these outrageous racist police actions making a difference? That is why I do it. I am fighting to make a difference in how the police treat people, and how black people are treated in general.

But Nan at the same time you have Stephen Miller’s group he leads spending 30 plus million dollars to push the idea that inclusion and diversity is really anti-white racism, that including black people in corporations or other places is a racist hate crime towards white people. And he is backed by big money white supremacists multimillionaires / billionaires. The entire tRump presidency was about pushing black people to pre-civil rights’ era places and returning all power in the US to white people, white men really. Those others will know their place and stick to it.

And what is worse, all this pro-white anti-colored people are driven by persons whose families were immigrants to the US, who are themselves second generation US citizen. WTF! Both Miller and tRump’s grandparents were immigrants to the US. Hugs. Scottie

      1. I don’t know if it’s in their genes or what … but history seems to validate that the WHITE male gender believes all the rest of the human species is inferior and needs to be controlled. Whether it’s skin color, sex, intelligence, etc., ALL are inferior to the Mighty Male.

(Please understand that this is a general statement and not specific.)

What is even more disturbing is the majority are so encapsulated with themselves that they totally ignore the fact that without WOMEN, they would cease to exist.

        1. Hi Nan. I agree, and I understand you are not saying ALL males. Some do seem driven that way. And that drive of self ego in the Mighty Male is also driving some white gay men to be racists and join republicans in their hate of the others. They themselves were targets of bigotry, yet they are willing to do that to others. Question is how to fix this clear defect in some men. Hugs. Scottie
