I often don’t feel well or have mind fog. Sometimes l get busy or for some other reason I need to take extra medications. Strong amounts of morphine, muscle relaxers, others. Everything makes my mind foggy. Plus last year I had a TIA ischemic event that messed with my ability to think and even speak properly. Also sometimes I just don’t feel up to dealing with other blog posts and even comments.
So I developed a system of saving open chrome pages of posts or comments in tabs, and building tabs up in different days windows. Sometimes I end up with 6 or 8 open windows saved with over 400 tabs in them combined. Over the last 6 or so weeks I had 8 open windows with over 60 to 80 tabs each. I could even close them and shut down the computer, as long as I did not clean the history.
I have three utility programs that are set to be run manually that clean the entire computer, including the internet browsers histories. Set to be run manually. Well one of those updated this morning. I never thought much of it, it happens a lot automatically. This time it bit me hard in the ass. See this time it reset my clean the browsers settings to automatically when closed. I needed to do some updates and restart the computer. No problem as I could close the tabs and then when the computer updated and restarted I could just reopen the saved tabs. I let the updates happen and restarted the computer.
When the computer restarted, I noticed CCleaner running. That seemed strange. I realized why when I opened chrome, opened the history to restore the more than 6 weeks of saved tabs full of comments and posts to find … everything gone! WTF. I checked the history on other devices, it was there, but the history for Play Blogger was gone. Damn it all to …
Seems when CCleaner updated, it changed the cleanup settings to automatically when closed. When I closed the browser windows the program cleaned the history.
I will try the hardest way to do comments, by going back through the admin board. But if you did leave an unanswered comment in the last 7 weeks, please let me know, I can look up the post to see the comments. I am so frustrated. And just want to forget the entire thing and go watch videos and play Halo. Hugs. Scottie
sweetheart, PLEASE give yourself a break. Everyone who follows you knows you are the person who communicates with everyone…….we will all still be here no matter what. This could be an absolute blessing in disguise for you. Think of all the crap you do NOT have to think about…now that those tabs have poofed off into cyberspace. Love ya.

Hello Suze. Thank you. You are a wonderful kind person. It might be better for me mentally / emotionally but it also is so frustrating because that was news I wanted to read and share, and comments I felt important to get back to. Well I am feeling better yesterday and very rested today. So I wanted to get an early start as Max has all the newer Star Trek TV shows I was not able to see. So I want to spend hours in the next few days streaming them also. Hugs. Scottie

Damn it, those updates infuriate me. My wife, as well; she refuses to update her Apple because of the mayhem that causes. I update mine with gritted teeth, bracing myself for WTF will happen with the update to my apps and settings. I so feel you, Scottie. Hugs, my friend.

Hi Michael. I do all the updates as I normally make sure to have the back-ups and data saved. But this is the first time I have had a cleaner wipe out my browser history. That this one did shocked me, and I couldn’t find a way to stop it once I saw it running. It was almost done anyway. I had so many post on others blogs I wanted to read and maybe comment on but had not gotten to yet, some were yours. All gone in 60 seconds with no way to stop it, due to a program set to manual activation being switched by an update. GGGRRRRR. Thanks for letting me vent. Hugs. Scottie

I totally agree with Suze. I’ve followed you long enough to know your passion for blogging and how you relate to those who share thoughts with you. I admire your commitment. But I think you sometimes don’t realise your own limitations. Take this event as fortuitous accident giving you the chance to take a few deep breaths.
Knowing you, I suspect that within a week you’ll have as many tabs open as you had yesterday. There will be plenty of opportunities to restart every conversation that was interrupted – your followers will see to that 😊

I also second this.
A nice update post, telling us about supper, a movie, and your new Halo accomplishments would be a fine thing to post tomorrow or the next day. I hope you and Ron had a fine Valentine’s Day!

I also agree.
I also have lost all my tabs and I keep a *lot* open. It was upsetting.
I lucked out. It turned out one of my cats had opened a second desktop on my computer and it doesn’t store the same history, so I dodged a bullet on that.
But, Scottie, I’d appreciate if you take a break to watch videos and play Halo as long as that is what you want. You’ll give your brain a break and then you can let the rebuilding begin..

Hi MDavis. You were lucky. When I need to clean out the browser on one computer, I open the same browser on a different one, then open all the saved tabs on that one. That way I can clean one without losing the tabs on the one being cleaned. Just like you said. As for slowing down some for mental health time, I think everyone is correct. I have had a rough few months emotionally and my healing is at the 2 steps forward one step back phase. So as luck has it Max HBO has all the newer Star Trek TV shows that were behind paywalls and we have Max. So I plan to spend a lot of time streaming those shows. Thanks. Hugs. Scottie

Hi Ali. Thank you. We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day because we try to make every day a day of love and appreciation of each other. As for new things. I want to back off the news for a bit to finally get back to making videos again, and to do that I need to find a new free video program. My old one refuses to let me install it again claiming I have done so too many times and the ones that have no install limit are in the hundreds of dollars. So I am looking for free recording programs along with editing software. Funny thing just happened, while writing the sentence I am looking for free … I was listening to Beau on the other monitor to talk about republicans. So instead of free recording software, I wrote free republicans … Well I know they are expensive just ask Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Russia. Oh, and as I told Suze, Max HBO has all the Star Trek TV shows for the last few years that were behind paywalls. We have Max, so I plan to play hooky from posting / replying to watch a bunch of them. Thanks. Hugs. Scottie

Sounds like a great plan! I’ll try to remember to check with the kid about video programs. I think you’re really on his level of knowledge, but just in case.

Hi Ali. Oh thank you if you would. I used to love doing short videos, I could cover so much and it did not hurt my hands and let me do more in a shorter time. Plus it was just fun. But back then it was a matter of turning on the camera / microphone then start the program. Do some talking covering what I wanted to say, and post to YouTube. Then grab it and post to the blog. But now I need a program to record, maybe one to add news headlines or other stuff if needed, and then do it all. It has kept me from doing them. So again, if your son has any suggestions I will gladly look into them. Sadly the days of me being able to just buy programs has long gone. And I miss those days. Hugs. Scottie

Hi Barry. So true, everything you wrote is true. You know me well, along with the viewers here. I really love and enjoy the community that has developed. And you are correct, I am taking it as a new start, with trying to have fresh thoughts on subjects. But part of me not only misses the comment interactions, but the many saved blogs of over 6 weeks that I wanted to read because a quick glance over showed they were interesting. I can’t wade through all the other blogs going back 6 weeks, there are not that many hours in a day. But as you say a fresh start with recharged energy. Thanks again. Best Wishes. Scottie

Scottie, my son says he’s very sorry for your loss of your video program. He doesn’t work with such things, and has no ideas for you on new economical/free ones. As to the limit on your current program, he says it’s possible your current program’s company MiGhT offer you a new license since you’re not installing on new devices every time, or there could be a discounted price. He feels that a broad installation limit is “aggressive” from a good business standpoint, if you’ve been reinstalling on the same devices after cleaning, but says that’s all he knows from what he’s reading. He says the same as you, that the new programs are pricey. I’m sorry; not much help.
