Employers Beg For Help: We Need 9 Million Workers

republicans are racist and culture warriors, white supremacist, so they don’t see that the nation needs immigrant workers, skilled and non-skilled.   They don’t seem to understand just how large this country is.  They think the entire country is just the town or city they live in.  We do not have enough workers to fill all the jobs, and some jobs their superior white people just won’t do.   The other side of the coin is they have made higher education so expensive we do not have the highly skilled workers needed for some high-tech specialty jobs.  We need to bring them in from other countries that subsidize their education systems.   Think of that.  The republicans have attacked the US education system so much they have dumbed down the US education to the point we need to bring in people educated from other countries, or foreigners educated here paid for by their country.   Hugs.  Scottie

Bloomberg News reports:

“I can’t have a conversation with any business owner that doesn’t revolve around the fact that they simply cannot find the skilled workforce they need,” says Jay Timmons, chief executive officer of the National Association of Manufacturers.

Some 9 million positions are open across the economy, equal to 1.4 vacancies for every unemployed worker. The worst-affected industries are trying to figure out the best way to make themselves heard.

A trade group for companies in the construction industry is buying digital ads to push for immigration reform. An association that represents makers of heavy equipment is flying members to Washington from such places as North Dakota to beg lawmakers for help.

All I hear from my GQP relatives are about how “no one wants to work anymore.” They still cling to this belief that the three stimulus checks that were given away several years ago (the first two from Trump, I remind them), made everyone quit their job and quit the workforce. I keep asking them — you seriously think people can live on $5000 for years without a job?
But they hold fast — between those checks and all the other freeloading gummint programs, no one has to work anymore.

It’s been like that for years, but from what I’m reading it looks like it’s gotten even worse. (Not even sure how that’s possible.) The process for applying for jobs is a nightmare. And so is the onboarding process once you’ve been hired but haven’t started. Some companies outsource the background check. You can get flagged as lying if you said you started on 3/11/19 but really started (according to that company’s records) on 3/12/19. I’m not exaggerating. They’ve made everything as difficult as possible which they got away with for 20 years because there were way more job seekers than jobs. Someone would put up with the bullshit to get a job. Now, not so much.

As for skilled labor, we don’t two generations they had to go to college even if school wasn’t their thing. Electricians, plumbers, etc are retiring and there are few replacements. That crisis is already here, especially in rural areas and small towns.

Years ago I applied for a job for which I was more than qualified, and after jumping through a few preliminary hoops, the employer ghosted me. Happily, another application had progressed and I decided to accept that offer (which turned out to be a great opportunity after all). Months later, the first company contacted me to invite me for an interview. I declined and told them why I wouldn’t be interested in working for them.

Sending in a resume only to have to fill out a lengthy and unnecessary set of questions that the resume should answer but satisfies the needs of dolts who mainly work in HR. Then if you’re lucky to pass a phone screen, you interview with people who have no idea how to interview potential candidates and then decide that instead of 2-3 interviews, 7-10 over a couple months is appropriate. And then sometime 6 months later, if they don’t outright ghost you, they send a standardized email saying you didn’t get the job, an application most people would’ve long forgotten about.

Oh, you get an email? I never do. I’ve gone through series of interviews at top level jobs, and never heard back. After waiting several months, I sent them an email, and a few weeks later they tell you they gave the offer to someone else, but they just loved me and would like me to assist in their non-profit mission in any way that I can.

This is a threat.  Look at what they called it in the article, a loving warning to change your ways … just as burning a cross was a threat, not simply a loving request you leave town.  The thing that gets me is no one cares if these people want to have their belief and their opinion, no one cares that they refuse to admit modern science says people are born LGBTQIA as long as they don’t act on it.  They have a right to their beliefs, they do not have a right to force others to believe what they do.  Yet this is what they constantly do, and are doing here.   They have their churches, put these at their churches and pray over them.  But that is not threatening enough, not enough to force others to live by their church doctrines and beliefs.   I am tired of these people and sick of their faith, and beginning to despise their god.  Their god is a hateful vengeful mean bully.  He is tRump.  Love me or else I hurt you.   Hugs.  Scottie

Last year, on February 28, 2023, a concrete replica of a millstone was left in front of the CRU Wine Bar and Coffee Shop on Turner Street in Beaufort, NC. Not just any millstone, but cast into its face was the Scripture reference Luke 17:2 and it’s inner and outer rims were painted in rainbow colors.

CRU Wine Bar and Coffee Shop had been sponsoring a “Youth Queer Night,” and openly admitted as such in the midst of the incident. But right out of the leftist playbook, they immediately shifted over to victim status, pleading the millstone was a threat to them and the LGBTQ community.

Far from being a threat to the LGBTQ community, the Rainbow Stone is actually a loving warning that, like everyone else, they need to repent of sin, receive the work of Jesus on the Cross, and be saved from a certain fiery judgment.

Read the full article. Luke 17:2 calls for drowning people who endanger children by tying a millstone around their neck. The owners of the bar say they considered the millstone to be a death threat.

A network of right-wing activists and allies of Donald J. Trump is quietly challenging thousands of voter registrations in critical presidential battleground states, an all-but-unnoticed effort that could have an impact in a close or contentious election.

Calling themselves election investigators, the activists have pressed local officials in Michigan, Nevada and Georgia to drop voters from the rolls en masse. They have at times targeted Democratic areas, relying on new data programs and novel legal theories to justify their push.

In one Michigan town, more than 100 voters were removed after an activist lobbied officials, citing an obscure state law from the 1950s. In the Detroit suburb of Waterford, a clerk removed 1,000 people from the rolls in response to a similar request.

Same here. At one time that might have been a worthwhile idea, but now it is pointless.

It has been and will be used against us over and over again. We cannot afford to be the “bigger person” anymore. This is that point in time where we’re going to have to compromise and get our hands dirty.
