“Tell us where our children are?”: Bodies exhumed from mass graves at Gaza hospital after Israeli siege

  1. Israel has become the very thing its original settlers fled from.
I try to keep religion out of my correspondence unless picking on the hypocrisies of the Christian Right.
However I have to say, unless Israel changes its way and casts out these evil ways, Retribution will come in Old Testament formats; no not floods or plagues but ‘The Sword’

    1. Hi Roger. I understand what you are saying, but it never seems to happen. If any other smallish country right now did what Israel is doing the major countries would band against them hard. They would destroy them. We never hesitated before like this. I keep hearing that it is because Israel is a strategic partner in that area … but really are they? With all other tech we have, as many times as Israel has stabbed the US in the back, and now Bibi proudly talking of how he willfully screws US presidents, how can we call them a partner. If Israel did not have a powerful lobbying group with such huge sums of money to give US politicians they wouldn’t be able to have such sway over US politics. Hugs. Scottie

      1. Sadly Scottie the Middle East, across the who board is a place where events are played out large and in a public arena.
US politics has long been locked in supporting Israel because the USSR supported several Arab states because the USA supported Israel. Then USA tied in with Saudi Arabia who played a very astute game with oil and then the money from oil.
And that might have toned once if the USA had not lost Iran to Islamic fundamentalism. So the USA got tied up with the proxy wars being played between Saudi Arabia and Iran. And Iran got tied up involved with wars against Israel. And meanwhile revitalised Russia weighed in with Assad’s faction in Syria because it wanted to keep its warm water port for its Navy.
So whatever goes on in the Middle East get noticed. Let’s not forget the linkage in Yemen and Houthis’ faction which is engaged in a low key war with the US & UK navies, because of the importance of the Red Sea.

Meanwhile in Myanmar in the mid second decade there was a genocide of the Rohingya population. A lot of governments called shame, but there was no military help and hardly any support from the self same folk marching up and down the streets of western nations now.
Same in Sudan which has been going on for decades, even more obscure. Expatriates will raise their voices as long as they can attach themselves to anti-Israeli protest.
There were some street protests over the Chinese government’s mass interment of Turkic Muslim peoples (mostly by expatriates), but western governments only raised ‘concerns’
And Western groups were quite absent when Iranian security forces brutally suppressed Women’s Right protests.

Sadly Scottie, and I apologise to inject a this note of bitterness again, but it is only ‘Israeli’ action that really ‘sells’ in the media and on the streets.
Which suits the Right is Israel just fine because they can use, and are using these sort of examples to play their ‘Anti-Semitic’ card. All Netanyahu has to worry about is what’s Iran up to and homegrown opposition.
(It’s my sardonic opinion if Jerusalem and Tehran did ever get together they would end up saying ‘Yeah. Good Talk. You suppress this. We’ll suppress this bit’…. Israel has had similar arrangements with Russia over the years. At one stage before he got stuck with the call of bringing Ukraine back into the homeland Putin and Netanyahu were good ol’ buddies )

It’s a long, old, dirty game Scottie, again a case of different nations, different times, same script.

        Take care you both.
Best wishes from Roger & Sheila.
(PS: Serious note: I’m going to have to pray a while now- clear my head and heart)

        1. Hi Roger. I agree with you. I think it is what you said, media coverage. I admit I did not know much about most of the conflicts you mentioned. Most I never heard of. I knew of the mistreatment of the Uyghurs because that was on the internet. I know much more about conflicts such as Gaza, Israel, and Iran because of coverage in all media and I know a lot of the situation in Gaza because I am much more tuned into the news now than even a decade ago, I am almost every day on the internet while my phone and tablet give me constant news alerts. Plus I have the time now I never had when younger.

So I blame a lot of the ignorance about the world on US media and the fact that life is such a struggle in the US with people having to work and struggle, leaving little time to read or watch news. The upper level of the country do not want the masses educated and informed. Hugs. Scottie

          1. You’ve made a very important point there Scottie, that Life being such a struggle folk can only give so much time and concern to the News.
It’s quite common to read that folk have given up on reading the news because they have enough pressure in their own lives, feel helpless about what is going on in the world, and don’t want to feel any worse.
            I quite understand that.

I sometimes skim through headlines, myself. Just checking in to see on things are going; think to myself ‘Yeah. Same as it was last year/month,’ or ‘Oh -(redacted) that is not going to work out well!’. or …….. usually something with harsher language.

The areas I steer clear of are sites with agendas and their ‘news’ which is too biased to be trusted to be objective.

          1. Thank you Scottie for your concern.
This process I was referring to is a two pronged thing.
            1. I do like to keep alert to what is going on in the world, trying to read the runes and not have to play catch up with the ‘headlines’ which can be misleading. It’s a personal way of keeping sane and in perspective- not always successful as it can be a depressing business.
            2. Christians should always be prepared to meet the challenge of bad news. Not to accept that it is God’s Will, and to get angry and ask ‘Why God? Why these children? Why?’
It is not uncommon to read within the Life History of some revered Christian that they suffered from depression and doubt at their Faith more than once in their spiritual lives.
Christ Himself suffered so before He was arrested prior to Crucifixion. It gets complicated trying to explain. We just have to work through.

So rest assured Scottie, it’s all part of Living This Life.
To keep abreast of what is going on and to work with my Faith, these challenges must be faced
I generally work it out from day to day, fortunately not into a state of Denial or worse Complacency.
            Thanks for your concern though.
            All the best.
            Roger & Sheila
