typical for Georgia. I was arrested for driving with a NEW MEXICO license…of course it was expunged but what a horrible experience.

Oh Suze. I am so sorry to hear that. It is sad that in some states the most backward thugs get to wear a badge. When I got to Germany I was given a mandatory class. We were taught that to be a police officer in West Germany was a high position that took about 8 years of training. It was not a job that stupid people got. So respect them. I wish we did that here in the US. I was deputized in Vermont with only six weeks of training and ongoing classes. But back then we were trained in deescalation and strict use of force, things police today are not trained in it seems.
Funny thing is I heard another story like yours. The police officer kept telling the driver that the license was from Mexico and so not valid in the US. The person kept trying to explain New Mexico was a state but the officer wouldn’t listen, claiming Mexico could change its name but it was still Mexico. Oh why in the US do the dumbest seem to gain the most authority over others? Hugs. Scottie

There should be a Green Book for any visitor to different U.S. states. Apparently.

Hi MDavis. Yes I agree. As Suze said it happened to her when she had a New Mexico license. This is why US police shouldn’t get control over immigration and why states shouldn’t have show your papers laws. Far too many bigoted stupid thugs go into to police forces, especially in Southern states.
I remember when a black friend was traveling through Georgia, he had a nice car that he and Ron had bought together when they were a couple. The police stopped him and took all his money he had on him before letting him keep traveling. If he refused to give him all his cash he would have been arrested and put in jail and lost the Cadillac. He lost hundreds of dollars he had for the trip simply because he was black and driving a high priced car. Hugs. Scottie
