plus Tengrain scooped the endorsement here, which gives us a focus as to the White House. Enjoy. And breathe!

I am done for the day. Sorry
Ron’s rescue cat howled between 2:30 and 3 am until I dragged my sleepy butt out of bed and fed him. Then he went back to bed. I couldn’t. I have to stay up for another hour until the sheets I washed due to said cat dry. Then I will lay down. I will try to get that cat in by 6 for the night, so I can go to bed. But I am done with news, angry with the democrats, and want to just watch Picard for an hour or so. I want to relax as I am very tired. See you tomorrow. Hugs. Scottie
Set up for fail
The Democratic Party attacked and ate their own while the Republican Party celebrated and endorsed their convicted molester and criminal authoritarian thug candidate who is demonstrably cognitively impaired. Need any more be said. One party says reality be damned we just claim what we want and threaten those who disagree, the other party worries that they may hurt their own chances and doesn’t back their candidate out of fear. Guess who will win in a war. One party doesn’t give a shit what people think, doesn’t care one bit about reality, ignores and vilifies the press, the other party cowers and tries to please every interviewer with an agenda that won’t listen to their replies. The media was desperate for a horse race, for more media clicks and interest in their posts / shows. The democrats gave in to them. The democrats caused tRump to win. Hugs. Scottie
What Food was Served at Wild West Saloons?
I’m gonna just be quiet
about national US politics for a bit. I’d just finished writing back to eurobrat’s comment, then I saw the headline. I have no words; things need to shake out a bit. I’m aware of how it should go within the party, but I don’t know that the party is much involved in this; it’s mostly donors and media. I guess as to the presidential ticket, we all need to breathe, very deeply, for the rest of the day. A positive will be transferring good energy to legislative races for fine candidates who aren’t Republicans! I’m not sure how much Project 2025 can get done with no legislation. It’s more important than ever: every single seat in the US House is up for election, and we need that House back. We need to keep the Senate.
That’s what I’ve got, for now. I’ll bring back some sort of sunshiny fun thing, probably yet today, though.

“Bogus Disclaimer” Added To FL Abortion Measure
Again republicans know that their possition on abortion is not popular and the public wants access to it. But republicans don’t care what the people want, they only want to force everyone to obey the rules they create. So they have to lie and mislead to get their way. Don’t fall for it. Hugs. Scottie
The Washington Post reports:
A Florida panel has approved language that will appear beneath an abortion ballot proposal in November that states the referendum will “negatively impact the state budget,” a move that reproductive rights proponents call “a dirty trick.”
The financial impact language says public funds may be required to pay for abortions, and that possible lawsuits could be costly. The statement concludes that “costs cannot be estimated with precision,” but asserts that if the amendment passes, it could be bad for growth in the state.
Last fall, the panel approved language that said the impact of Amendment 4 was “indeterminate.” Since then, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and Florida House Speaker Paul Renner (R) appointed new members to the panel who voted to change the financial statement that will be on the ballot.
Here’s the new wording:
The proposed amendment would result in significantly more abortions and fewer live births per year in Florida. The increase in abortions could be even greater if the amendment invalidates laws requiring parental consent before minors undergo abortions and those ensuring only licensed physicians perform abortions.
There is also uncertainty about whether the amendment will require the state to subsidize abortions with public funds. Litigation to resolve those and other uncertainties will result in additional costs to the state government and state courts that will negatively impact the state budget.
An increase in abortions may negatively affect the growth of state and local revenues over time. Because the fiscal impact of increased abortions on state and local revenues and costs cannot be estimated with precision, the total impact of the proposed amendment is indeterminate.
Let’s talk about your candidates and finding out about them….
Good information to know. Often in Florida where I live you have only republican candidates running or mostly republicans. You need to know which ones are reasonable or which ones are maga. Plus a lot of races are not partisan, meaning no party affiliation. So I need to know who has reasonable positions and who is a maga in sheep’s clothing trying to take over a school board. Beau put the links to the information sites in his description box. Try them. Don’t let a maga person sneak through in your district. Hugs. Scottie
