My plans for the blog 8 24 2024

At the very beginning I goofed and misspoke the name of the blog, referring to my old blog and old YouTube channel instead of Scotties Playtime blog and channel.  Unfortunately I do not have editing software yet, and so I left it in as I would have to dump the entire video and make a new one.  Remember I do not use scripts so I don’t know I could do a new one without a mistake either.  Also remember it normally takes YouTube a day or more to do the CC for videos.    Hugs.  Scottie

  1. Here’s to it!

I haven’t done much today; we had 2 power outages, one additional net outage, and now my desktop keeps shutting down; its way of letting me know I need to blow it out before turning it on again. So though I had tabs up to post, I haven’t gotten it done. Tomorrow is another day.

    1. Hi Ali. Yes it sure is. No stress, no worry. Because of the unstable power issues here I added large back up power units, one each to both computers and a smaller one for the modem / router. For us the power hits might be only for a minute or so but happen 6 or 7 times in a row. So I got large batteries that will run the computer and all the stuff connected to them drawing power for 120 minutes, and the one for the modem / router even though much smaller will run them and the printer for over 3 hours. If you are worried about the heat in your computer there is a small free program called Speccy that will monitor and display for you the temp of all the devices in your computer that have heat sensors. Once you set the options it will run when you start the computer and display in the taskbar and you can enlarge it at any time, then minimize it to the taskbar again. Hugs. Scottie

      1. Thank you!
The kid says rather than investing, we should probably just buy a newer one when this one gets beyond regular lay-person maintenance. He built this one when he was in high school; we’ve moved our old motherboard into it. It’s nice, and I’m glad it’s still running, just sometimes, it gets hot. It’s got a water cooler (I had no idea computers had those!) plus several fans; they used it for gaming back in high school. The computer is right around 10 years, maybe a few more months, old! It can’t run Win 11, according to MS when we do updates.
So… it was just one of those days the other day.. I get caught up; I’m about there, actually, but I have errands soon, too. Just life!

  2. As I have always reminded you, take care of yourself first. The rest will follow of their own accord.

The camera angle, and/or the chair are no longer a distraction, and the microphone is definitely an improvement. As to the image quality of the camera, It’s fine for me. But then I often find high resolution images and videos a little uncomfortable and when there’s no need to see an image in high definition, I prefer a little fuzziness. In the real world I often remove my spectacles to achieve the same effect. The alternative is to close my eyes or look away from the screen while I listen. It’s an autistic trait that I happen to have, but I appreciate that neurotypical people may have a different perspective.

    1. Hi Barry. I had tipped the camera off the monitor to straighten the chair head rest. Then I got thinking why is that needed. So I put a small level on the monitor. It had a large lean to the left as I am looking at it. I tried to see if it could be fixed but it appears to be in the swing arm and it is lose at the joint that goes to the monitor. But I will keep a watch on it. Thanks for the suggestions. Please feel free to let me know if the video gets too much or too bright and I will try to adjust something. I already have decided not to use the big on the monitor spotlight that was advertised as a must have. I think the video looks better without it being so bright and glaring. Best wishes. Scottie
