Vultures at the Gate

Hello All;

I’ve read too many recent reports of people being taken advantage of in their desperation. I just saw this most recent video from someone I have confidence to be truthful (he operates a well and septic service in the North Carolina area). Please take note and share the concern. Hugs. Randy

  1. I once defused a tense, potentially fatal situation by telling a cop that it sucks that there are people in the world that make people like him necessary (and only pussies carry guns)

    Been fairly decent acquaintances since …

    1. Hi Ten Bears. I once had an argument with someone when the whole middle-east terrorist thing was running strong that I had far fewer concerns of being shot by a terrorist than I did of being shot by a cop. I’ve also said that there is no way in the world I could do their job, and that I give them respect for the GOOD work they do. I even once loaned my brand new pick up truck to a cop in an emergency and realized later that I didn’t get his name or card or anything and could only hope that he came back because I didn’t know how I would explain that one to my insurance company. –side note: small town cop. I NEVER got a speeding ticket or had any problems in that town after that as long as I worked there. coincidence?–
      Your point is right on the mark, though. What would we do if we didn’t have a good honest police force in our current culture? We’d be back to the old west ways of life, might makes right. They are truly one of the glues that hold our society together, and that is why it hurts so deeply when they fail so miserably at times. So, as much as I prefer to stay away from them, I am usually very thankful for them.

  2. Hi Suze. I have a distant cousin that lives in that area. I sent this off to my mother with hopes that she could get in touch with her and let her know that the damn vultures are flying and the rats have come out of their holes. I must admit, thankfully I have zero experience with FEMA. I live in Michigan, and we have very few weather related problems here outside of the normal irritations, so I really wouldn’t have known different. A post on that would be great, but I know nothing (hint hint :)).

    Thank you!

  3. Hi. Great informative post Randy. We saw it here in the trailer park we live in after Ian. Not only did they swoop in from outside the park, a couple handy men in the park took money from older single women. They took money and only did half the job or a shitty job. One took a lot of down payments then left town for Puerto Rico. So people do need to be careful. We do have very talented handy crafts men who do many things for people to include renovating homes and repairing floors, but they don’t do new roofs or go under the homes to do repairs there. They will help tarp a home but if someone offers to put on a new roof make sure they are with a reputable roofing company in your area, get an estimate, and submit it to FEMA after you have already made your initial FEMA claim. Make no down payment and don’t waste time, FEMA money will go away after the next storm, get your estimates in fast as you can. Hugs. Scottie
