Ron and I stayed up until 4 am watching the election results. We got about an hours worth of sleep. Then we got up and sat stunned. I am sorry this is going to take me a long time to understand and bounce back from. So many people of this country are so uninformed and so many thought sending a message by not voting for Harris would somehow be better for the Palestinians. What this means for Gaza and the West bank is no more restraints on Israel, no aid for Ukraine. More right wing ideologue justices who rule not by law but by ideology and feelings. Thomas and Alito have hinted that if tRump won and had the Senate they would retire so he could fill their seats with 40 year olds to be there for generations. What this means for other countries and our relationships with them … who knows. But what this means for the LGBTQ+ community is clear. We have large targets on us now. Sad hugs
I just can’t today

Hi Janet. It will be hard to move forward. Already I am hearing reasons Harris lost, she was too nice, she was not nice enough type stuff. She was too republicans lite, she was too progressive. I think it is too early to tell why. I think with the misogyny in this country was a big reason as a quarter of the country thinks the Handmaids Tale is a guide book. I will remember how we won the fights we did that changed a country for the better for a long time. We need to return to using them. Make our voice heard. On our walk Ron and I saw two elderly gay guys in the 80s. One of them was crying. He kept saying over and over, I don’t understand … how … how … I don’t know how they could vote this way. I know how he feels, I don’t understand it either.
But in the past we did not reach out to those that hated us, we reached out to the people interested in fair play and decency. We changed a nation by showing we were in every family and just as normal as they were. We won by making friends and having our straight friends back us. Younger people seen us as like them, not so different. But we let the other side demonize us again, like they tried in the past. We have to fight back, and we need our progressive politicians to fight back, not accept the rights framing of the LGBTQ+. I know you already know and remember this. I guess I am writing this as much for my own need of a pep talk and for any who may read this. We will not go back! Hugs

We will not go back, indeed. I will not go back into the closet. At doctor’s office for surgery follow up.

It’s rough honestly. I’ve had every imaginable (non-lethal) complication. Currently dealing with a full torso rash. It’s very itchy, and nothing OTC has helped. Surgeon thinks it’s a reaction to some medication from anesthesia. I started prednisone yesterday. No impact yet.
I can’t sleep restfully. I tossed and turned all night.
And you know what? It’s still the best thing I have ever done for myself, and I have no regrets about having done it.

Hi Janet. A suggestion for the rash if it doesn’t go away soon. My dermatologist gave me a Ketoconazole shampoo 2% for my body when I had a rash that wouldn’t clear. Plus a Ketoconazole 2% cream for break out spots. Works great for me. I am very happy you are happy. Hugs

Thanks. I have already reached out to a dermatologist and expect a response by Monday, but I’ll look into your suggestion. I may end up going to urgent care tomorrow in any case.

Just received a plan from dermatology. 2 Rx (high dose prednisone and kenalog cream) and suggestion for various OTC products to ease the discomfort.
