  1. At 11:50 he segues into a major, with a capital Major, point.

CNN explains what tariffs could do – would have been nice if they’d done that before the election.

It’s a lot more fun to report on tfg holding a nazi rallye or on Harris laughing or talking about the national sales tax that trump wants.

She might even have spelled out what she meant by that sales tax comment, but I’m not gonna know since the mainstream media would have cut away at that point to speculate on whether that’s blood or ketchup on tfg’s ear. I’m aware of what a tariff does at the most basic levels because of the media I visit – non-mainstream blogs like this one. Certainly not because of Newsmax. I don’t have to watch to know they were too busy pimping gold, bitcoin, and donald j trump to actually report on what a tariff does or anything else that would have increased the national education levels.

    1. Hi MDavis. Well said, very damn well said. I plan to address more of that stuff, that mainstream corporate media sane washing and wanted tRump to win so pushing a bias towards him simply due to where the money / profit is.

I have been repeating that a large number of tRump voters when confronted with what he said or what Harris planned they complain they never knew any of that. Or they felt they were not told clearly enough. However a lot of people on the left do not believe that. They think enough of the information was out there and people refused to see / watch / read it. I disagree. We are not getting our left message out to the very people who need to hear it. We need to do what the right did.

The right complained that the media was slanted / bias left. So they built their own media networks from the ground up. It started with only Fox Entertainment, then expanded to online media. The people on the right who have money put it into creating a hard right republican talking points pushing media that now is dominating every online space. We have to do the same. We do have billionaires and millionaires on the left, time for them and all of the many podcasters to join together as a force and push our own LEFT wing bias media networks. We have several started. Sadly TYT went to the right to make money and decided that we need to throw half of us out to promote the core. But that is a right idea, not the way the left should work. But Midas Touch is trying hard to make it work. And we have great left wing reporting podcasters like Brian Taylor Cohen, along with others I watch daily.

We need to push our messaging as well as the other side. They pick their talking points and then every one of their media hammers it. On our side everyone does their own thing. We all have our own issues. I know I have mine. From my lived experience I understand the abuse LGBTQ+ have been under. So I push that as it is what I know.

But for women I just listened to a teacher say that he is hearing his 6th grade boy students say to the girls “Your body, my choice”. They can’t understand the threat and meaning behind it I hope, but if they do it is even worse. But they are hearing it online from their right wing maga influencers. Or sadder they are hearing it at home from their male relatives, brothers and fathers. The plural on fathers was deliberate.

For nearly 30 years the left had control over the media pushing progressive values and rights for all to live as their authentic selves. And society turned to acceptance and tolerance mostly. But the right now has that media space and they are driving the regressive hate / bigotry message to return to the past, the 1950s or in some cases the 1850s which is the real goal of the adult elected or senior Christian right movement. We must counter that and very quickly. Hugs

    2. I found multiple articles from CNN before the election on Tariffs, as well as informative articles from AP, PBS, MSNBC, on and on, this has been a major topic of reporting for the last year.

I get that it is a complicated topic. And more importantly not all imports are the same. The impact on the economy is not the same.

But a simpliest approach is that in reality the consumer pays at the cash register more for a product that is under tariffs.

      Tariffs drive up inflation.

A lot of pieces and parts of things are either limited in this country, too dangerous to mines here, or simply non-existent here. A fluke of geology, or ecology, or whatever. If we tariff such products, then small companies that might have been manufacturing something that was reliant on that import part or ingredient, they potentially go out of business. Large companies just go figure out a work around.

But please stop blaming the media just because you ignore these things until someone manages to dumb it down to a soundbite.

      1. Hi vgcrutchfield. I believe you have misunderstood both the post and the comments here. We are not talking about our own understandings of tariffs. We are talking about the tRump supporters who failed to read the articles and watch the news. They got all their news from reading headlines or from listening to misleading right wing media. You are clearly not one of the uninformed voters. However many tRump voters voted based on stuff they saw on Facebook or Twitter / X, and they are having rude awaking now that they are finding out. Hugs
