  1. Whatever the cause folk like New Jersey Rep. Jeff Van Drew claiming there were coming from an Iranian mothership of the eastern seaboard won’t help (like the US Navy and Coastguard between them would miss that?). Hysteria and cheap propaganda go hand in hand.
Watch out for the claims that it’s the beginning of an attempt by Biden’s administration to seize control by a coup with Trump as the target of an assassination.
(The real cause? The words ‘Hoax’ and ‘Scaremongering’ spring to mind)

    1. Hi Roger I am watching the Sunday new shows that are talking about it. While there are not as many out there as people have claimed they still are very large and it is unknown what their purpose is, who is behind them, and even where they are coming from. I personally wonder if it is a US military program and that is why the government is staying quiet about it.

Yes what you said about conspiracies are gaining traction is very true. We have a guy in the park who has a small drone, it is about a foot or 18 inches from corner to corner. It cost him $1,500. Nice toy if you can afford it. But these are 6 feet in length, imagine the cost? Imagine the storage space they need? Yet with all the satellites and radar set up in the US they don’t know even where they come from. They can find a masked man through surveillance cameras and words on three bullets who they accuse of killing someone … so how do they not know where these drones are launched from.

I read they have avoidance of planes and helicopter technology, that is not cheap or easy to build. So I would say this is a big money deal. I asked Ron if Amazon or other delivery company could be practicing with these but he says it doesn’t seem likely, they would tell the local government. So it is an underground militia? A group who feel the US is on the wrong course or a terrorist group who wants to strike a building? But that seems unlikely for each, the loss of surprise and the failing to act before being noticed. That leaves spying from a foreign government. Sleeper agents in the state flying these things and reporting back. Is that why the government is not saying what they know about it, so they can act when ready against them? I don’t know but after the Chinese balloon spy thing the country is jumpy and those paying attention to the news know drones of this size are used in warfare. Hugs

      1. Well whoever they are if they are serious about this, they are a bit dumb.
The whole idea of the surveillance is it’s supposed to be covert. So these big drones should be painted black, while working at night, with low noise filters.
And as you point out Scottie if it was an attack there’s a big loss of surprise.

Keeping an open mind here. Never underestimate the urge for some folk with more money than sense to do something irresponsible.

        1. Hi Roger. I had a thought last night about them. But this morning on our walk I talked to Ron about the different ideas of who might be behind them. I thought last night … what if a movie company, a big money studio is using the drones to do background scenes and scanning of sights for movies.

Ron did not think much of the idea. But he still thinks it is private militias like the Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys, the 3%s group, those military wannabe thugs wanting to enforce what they mistakenly believe is fact which is scary that these violent people have these devices at hand. 1. In these times when Hate Mongers grow wealthier and Fear spirals all aspects of devices Humanity have manufactured take on a sinister turn.
Those who initiate such malevolence would do well to reflect that no act of violence, no weapon, no motivation is one-sided or the sole preserve of one group.
There are a host of saying which warn about this, such as ‘You reap whatever you sow’

As for the drones themselves I am waiting and keeping an open mind. There is a another possibility that a few commercial drones or hobbyist drones have been seen about the place (time of year and all) and in the current heightened atmosphere of doubt and alarm (looking at you Trump) folk have inadvertently mistaken other objects such as private aircraft, some atmospheric event or stellar even as a drone. It’s quite understandable.
If it does have some sinister strategic purpose, the analytical part of me has to ask ‘Why New Jersey?’

            1. Hi Roger. As Ron pointed out to me at drone speeds NY City is very close if someone wanted to make a statement by an act of terrorism. My counter was now that they have been spotted and are known the government could have stopped it … Ron counters … if they want to. Which I think is silly

As to why NJ. They have strategic military places and also close to other targets many instates fat more south from NJ.  New Jersey, has nine military bases, which is quite a lot compared to other states of similar size. The USMC is the only branch without bases in NJ.

But the big fear we all have is if this is something nefarious, why doesn’t the government know about it and why won’t they tell us. Hugs.

              1. Thanks very much for that up date on the military presence around New Jersey.

On that basis I now have another suggestion very much based on the theory. Screw-Up is a Given.

Someone / or someones in the Pentagon is / are now raging and demanding to know :
‘Who the hell down in New Jersey decided to send out the model XXXXXX on trials in public space? Their hide will be on display,’

                and in CIA’s Langley:
‘Military,’ big sigh ‘You can’t trust them not to go playing with their new toys Santa sent them early,’

While in Washington FBI and Whitehouse in chorus…
‘WTF are they doing over at the Pentagon / Langley????’

And the resulting public silence is due to embarrassment.

44 years in public service and 60 of reading history tends to give me a rather sardonic outlook.

                We wait and see.

                  1. That’s another good cover story, particularly if they bring in ‘evidence’.

Another option is that some edgy production outfit have done this to create a scare and then run a documentary on how folk (including those in the public domain) can be wired up by something unknown.
That gives them a chance to run with the scare caused by Orson Well’s legendary take on ‘War of the Worlds’ as a radio play.
The whole message would be ‘Stay Calm and Rational Folks’.

There again it might end up filed under ‘We May Never Know’ and birth a whole lot of Urban Legends.

Interesting, but in these frenetic days dangerous.

                    Take care you guys.
