Some how we have fallen in to the time line where the most stupid people are the ones leading the country and the most greedy are in charge of the public money. There was a movie based on this … or several dystopian ones. But anyone who has seen this simpleton’s tRump Towers penthouse apartment can tell you he has no clue what looks good or is even acceptable. It probably has to do with the hair, but I wish they wouldn’t use Liberace in regard to Trump. I used to enjoy Liberace’s talent. I’d forgotten he had some guest-starring bits on TV where he actually acted; I saw a couple of “Batman” TV show reruns last week where Liberace played twins. I keep thinking of him and the piano, and his flamboyance, but he was multi-talented. I know he played straight, even in the 80s as he was perishing of AIDS, but he was a product of his time, and still pushed some progress for others.
Meanwhile, Trump’s just lucky.

Hi Ali. It is the flamboyance, the over the top showmanship that until then was not done. He made it his gimmick. Elton John toyed with it for a while wearing over the top shirts and glasses. I loved Liberace the few times I saw him. If he came on the TV while the adopting father was around he shut the TV off, but the adopting mother loved to watch his acts. Hey I was a gay teen in a small cow town deep in Vermont in the 1970s and even I could tell he was gay. I was amazed he could pull that off and not upset the very people that would beat the shit out of a gay person if they did that act in person. But these same people loved him and Flip Wilson’s transvestite character Geraldine Jones. But now drag queens are groomers coming for your kids ???? Hugs

Milton Berle also remains beloved, even with his drag characters. I guess there are some celebs with talent who also have great testicular fortitude that makes less secure people not want to mess with them. I don’t know. It’s a guess.

Hi Ali. Yes drag was a time honored theater / TV skit. Even Bob Hope did drag. All the best performers were doing it. Remember Klinger on MASH? What ever happened to make a culture war thing? I still think it was all driven by religion. Lib’s of TikTok were stupid religious. They pressed the trans thing / drag queen thing for every bit of fame she could get. Religious leaders have used that think of the children trope on gay men since Anita Bryant, again she based it on religion. Against the laws of nature. They are repeating the same line against trans people. And drag queens. I thought after the gay people gained equality and rights against discrimination along with the right of marriage that this kind of bigotry was behind us.
I then read that one of the big religious hate groups like the Family Research Council, Faith & Freedom Coalition, and Brian Brown of The natural Family. There were several others but I forget the names. Anyway these groups got together and decided that they attacked the gays too late and lost public opinion so they decided they had to change public opinion on trans people as soon as possible so they put the word out to churches and put a lot of money into promoting all the hate and backlash against trans they could. At first the found no traction, but then they hit on boys in girls bathrooms. Just like they focused on gay men going after your little boy to make him their girl, the trans women are going into the bathroom to rape your cute little daughter. It triggered people and worked.
Then they went after trans with the idea that again trans women were stealing the awards and trophies of your little girls. Never mind there were only 10 adult level trans people in sports and most states had no trans kids in sports. They got Riley Gaines as their spokesperson to cry on ever show possible that she lost her swim meet to a man calling himself a woman. The problem was she came in fifth and Lia Thomas the trans woman was beaten by three other women. So much for their a man stole my title slogan.
But it worked and they were able to build off it to really hammer trans people and now coming after the rest of the LGBTQ+. Right wing media pushed the shit out of the trans hate, lies, and misinformation while democrats ran from supporting trans people. Democrats shied away from defending trans people making it look like even they felt trans people were doing something really wrong. Now all the progress made for all the LGBTQ+ is at risk and we will have to fight the same fights again but with less support from the democrats in the office. I am tired of this fight for my rights, for trans people’s rights. I don’t care their god or their opinions, they are welcome to both, but they are not welcome to force other people to worship their god, nor live by their ideas of what is proper. Hugs

I guess, to me, using Liberace’s name in regard to Trump is not an insult to Trump, and is at least a bit of an insult to Liberace. But others’s mileage will vary.

Hi Ali. I am in agreement with you being compared to tRump is a deep insult. I feel that Liberace was a grand showman in the tradition of showman. tRump is a wannabee mob boss con man who is desperate to be in the limelight to be adored. As I said I loved watching Liberace, but I hate to even hear tRump’s voice. I think as I said it was a ham fisted attempt to describe tRump’s over the top on everything. Hugs
