Hi Roger. Yes that was a good one. I don’t remember if it is in this group, but I like the one with the trans sheep on Jesus shoulders. The rest of the sheep miss gender the trans sheep and say they kicked them out. Jesus replies yes and I found them using either a female or male pronoun. To me that says it all. Some Christians can be hateful and throw people not like them away, but Jesus doesn’t. Hugs

Hi Roger. I am glad to have you and Sheila in my life. I learn as much from caring Christians such as yourself as I do any other caring people. I find the more you care for others the easier it gets to care for others. Maybe the same can be said for hate. But I have seen people who really did seem touched by the spirit, the love of Jesus, and I have never seen hate be part of that. I am not sure what spirit or god these ones that are so filled with hate think they are following but it is no Jesus I ever learned about. Being a loving Christian is not wrong, it is a belief or a faith that harms no one and helps many. Being a hateful person claiming it is due to your being a Christian does hurt others and I feel that is wrong. Those people sully the good name of Christianity. Hugs

Oh We try, we try to follow Jesus’ words, sometimes we do make a mess of it and try and do better next time. It’s not meant to be easy because it;s a battle against the flaws in Human Nature.
It is wrong to hate and judge in the Lord’s name Lord’s own words from Matthew Chapt 7 v 1-2:
1.Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
It’s no use anyone trying to wriggle out of that one.

Hi Roger. It is not the display of your religion that makes you such a treasure I think, but the fact is your faith shines out from you even if the person reading did not know you are Christian.
I am not religious and an empirical evidence person, but I can say this with truth in my heart, there is a light of understanding when you write on subjects dealing with religion, with Jesus, with faith accepting of others that gives your words a halo of truth, of belief.
The point I was trying to make at the start of this is that you do not display / broadcast your religion, but your daily actions really do. Had I never known you were a real Christian it would have been so clear and concrete the first time I cried out about my abuse as a child. But it is easy to comfort a child, but much harder for a “Christian” to tell them it is OK that they were gay.
You gave me so much love during those times, it seemed you were haloed by the god you worshiped. It helped me that much. I poured out so much hurt and anger which I never directed at your god but others had.
Then you went further making sure your lord Jesus shown from every response you made to my posts on the LGBTQ+ community. You did that without beating anyone with the scripture, never used the “word” as a hammer against those struggling in life. Roger I am not of your faith … but if there is an “outpouring of the spirit” you have surly been the largest vessel of it. Best wishes, and I have to admit I am grateful to be a part of the journey your fellowship includes me in. Hugs

I can only say ‘Thank You’ for your reply Scottie.
To know how you feel my words have helped is overwhelming in the best way.
I must give thanks to My Lord Jesus for His Guidance and Teaching and the thousands and thousands of folk who have been the solid examples of Compassion, Respect and Tolerance, irrespective of where they in turn gain their inspiration.
And now I have run out of words and got all tangled (it’s been a long hot day here too so I’m running out of words anyway.

Hi Roger. I had time to think on what you wrote. The grand thing about you and Sheila along with all the rest of your family is you are the total opposite of the people who sully the Christian religion. I don’t know if your god knew there would be bad actors who would distort and abuse his basic tenets, but if he did then he put people such as yourselves to challenge those who do and show the truth of his word! I have met people who were quiet about their beliefs who lived them every day, including saving an abused boy when it was needed asking nothing in return, and I have seen others who shouted their beliefs every day but cared nothing for those they met in daily life. Again I am thankful to have you in my life. Hugs

Yes God was / is aware there are folk who know there would be bad actors.
By chance one of today’s passages of Bible reading relates to that in Genesis Chapter 18 verses 16-33.
God is going to destroy Sodom and Abraham pleads for the innocent there. He starts off with the idea that if there are 50 there would God destroy them, God says now Sodom would spared. Abraham bargains down to 20 and God agrees. (We have to assume that when Sodom gets destroyed all the good folk have got the hint and quit).
Then we have the whole ministry of Jesus which leads to His crucifixion so that all of Humanity has the chance to be spared from oblivion.
Therefore it is up to us who embrace Compassion, Respect and Tolerance to do what we can for the oppressed, the vulnerable and persecuted and not to listen to folk who would do the opposite.
It is always an uphill task because Humanity is flawed and all too often ready to embrace those flaws as the easy solution.
We keep on though, and never give up on Hope.

Hi Roger. Thank you for jogging my memory of bible passages I learned long ago in childhood. But to go along with what you wrote, I have vague memories of a passage when Jesus is asked about work on the Sabbath and he replies with a story of a lost sheep that the shepherd goes to save. I am sure I slaughtered the story, but as I remember it was a single sheep and Jesus asked which one would leave a single sheep to suffer and not go to help them even on the Sabbath. Again it was a long time ago and the people telling me these stories had no clue I was a sheep being left behind and suffering that they wouldn’t come to rescue (protect me and bring me welcoming back into the flock as I was) while their god told them to do so. Anyway … Just a memory I guess. Hugs
