“There needs to be blood”: Democrats’ voters tell them to “get shot” in Trump resistance push

    1. Hi Ten Bear. If violence has to occur I prefer it be their side that suffers from it not ours. But I am reading and posting how disgusted the Democratic Party supporters are that the party appears to be doing nothing but waiting. Some like Old strategist like Carvel keep telling these old party leaders to just sit back because people will get sick and tired of tRump by midterms and will vote against him by supporting democrat candidates. They are wrong. If they don’t speak up, do events, and challenge the tRump administration then people won’t vote for them at all. What did Chuck Schumer do about the tRump billionaire bailout bill? He voted to let it go to the floor and then challenged the name. He got them to take the name out of the bill but what the fuck did it accomplish? Nothing. It shows the wealthy old democrats wanted these tax cuts also and did not care it would hurt poor people by cutting Medicare to extinction. Hugs

      1. Actively doing nothing to challenge trump while also actively sabotaging the next generation challenging their hold

It’s the Golden Boy Scout Rule: Be Prepared to Do Unto Others As They Would Do To You. Man I wouldn’t step on an ant; been known to rescue bees, birds and assorted embattled critters. But if that ant bites me, a wasp stings I am going to slap it …

    1. Exactly. Not to mention, the people asking their Dem congresscritters to get shot: what are they willing to do to sustain democratic or Dem efforts? Will they go to the office to help answer the phone, or lobby people in the public? It seems wrong, to me, to ask any congresscritter to do something I would not do, and I would not purposely get myself shot.

Anyway, I think this was just put out there to make Dem voters sound as nuts as the rightwingers. There’s been a lot of bad rhetoric in the past 6-7 days regarding Democrats as being ‘others’ not worthy of life or life in the US. I don’t like it, and media need to stop promoting it, because it’s dangerous.

      1. Hi Ali. I agree with your first paragraph but disagree with your second one.

I agree I don’t want anyone shot. But sadly we have seen that republicans are willing to play dirty and hurt people to get what they want. They will lie, cheat, and create fake studies on any subject to get what they want. The republican followers have shown they are willing to use and be very violent to get what they want including bringing guns to threaten drag queens reading to children up to trying to kill political leaders and judges.

What the article is saying and what I am seeing everywhere is the public thinks the democratic leadership is laying down refusing to fight back to tRump and all his admin is doing. They feel the leadership is muzzling the younger people to keep them from speaking up. They feel that the leadership of the party is taking James Carvel advice of just wait and just don’t do anything to upset the people because by midterms the people will be so angry with tRump that they will vote for democrats. It will not work that way. People in this age want to see actions. Like it or not the republicans use power to get things done but the people don’t see democrats doing that. In five months tRump threatened and used every trick to pass his big harmful change society bill. But it took Biden 2 years to pass a fraction of his Build Back Better bill.

People want to see more loudly speaking out challenging of the things tRump and team are doing. They want to see visual things like rallies and sit-ins. The democrats get turned away from legally inspecting the ICE detention facilities which the law says they can do. They get turned away and they accept it. They should be shouting from the floor of both sides of congress, and they should have blockades of the facilities. They should do court case and go on every media to talk about it.

I get more news from podcasts like The Daily Beans by Allison Gill along with others than I do the main stream sell out scared to report negatively on tRump media. Younger politicians go on these shows, Bernie goes on these shows, but democratic leadership hardly goes on any platform. The upper ranks of democrats are on the Sunday News shows I watch and they babble feebly to respond to questions from the hosts. People want to see fire not wavering. Hakim Jefferies responded to the Texas floods with thoughts and prayers instead of attacking the weather reporting systems killed by tRump, doge, and Texas itself. If democrats ever want to win we need to get rid of these soft spoken corporate democrats and get more people like AOC, and Zohran Mamdani.

BTW the democrats have not even endorsed Zohran Mamdani even though he showed them how to bring the young people including young males into the party again. Democrats have been hemorrhaging young men, Mamdani has them flocking to him. Yet the corporate democrat leadership is terrified to piss off wealthy corporate donors to endorse a socialist. Hakim Jeffries flew to Silicon Valley to meet with the wealthy donors right after Bernie and AOC went on the anti-billionaire tour. The House Minority leader did not reach out to the voters, but went to see the very wealthy corporate donors and that is why the Democratic Party continues to lose voters. Hugs

        1. Well, then we agree to disagree. Democrats are not violent, though. People should not be shot. Those asking people to do big brave things need to be prepared to stand with/behind those people when they do.
All people ever want to do is blame Democrats for every little thing, all the time. No one wants to do any of the work, though. It’s one of those ask not what your country/party can do for you, rather ask what you can do. Turns out Dems like it when we all work together, and everyone is literally safe (not meaning “safe seats” or “offices”, etc., but literally safe while using their rights.
I don’t know much more how to explain this. Right now, Dems are on Trump’s list of expendable people. For media to write headlines (because I couldn’t get the story without subscribing, and I refuse because Axios is clickbait crap) that imply people are telling elected officials to get themselves shot is just playing into Trump’s game of divide and conquer. Yes, the Dem party needs to listen to and recruit younger people, it’s been ever so. But this article is not healthy for children and other living creatures. If this violent rhetoric is what people want, go get it and leave me out of it. I refuse.

          1. Hi Ali. (because I couldn’t get the story without subscribing, and I refuse because Axios is clickbait crap) Are you saying you couldn’t read the article? If that is the case I can copy it for you. It opens for me just fine with no sign in. Let me know please and I will copy it for you.

Ali I did not see any call to violence anywhere in the article? I see both lawmakers and the base angered at the lack of visible actions on the part of the members of congress. No one wants physical fighting to break out, no one wants guns being used. You totally read that wrong. If you read what I wrote above you will see what is being called for. If republicans want to shout we need to outshout them, to be louder. We are watching our congress leadership brag about getting the name of the bill changed while republicans go on ever media platform lying about what is in the bill. We need our people to be on those same platforms and not to whisper or whine that they are in the minority. Yes be forceful and show the people the Democratic Party is not dead yet. Hugs

            1. No, thank you, Scottie. I’ve said what I’ve said, and that’s enough. We don’t have to continue this. I’ll even tell you I’m absolutely wrong about it all, and shouldn’t have spoken up, if that helps. I’m just done discussing this; we each see it differently, and don’t seem to be finding a common ground. It’s not a problem for me if it isn’t a problem for you, and I don’t see why you shouldn’t continue posting whatever you want, as you allow me to do, as well. It’s all good, but I’m done.

              1. Hi Ali. Please don’t take that route, you are not wrong. I just think you read the title and made a judgment not backed up by the facts of the article. The article was not saying the democrats need to shoot people, but that we need to be willing to push hard and not be stopped by threats from the maga cult. Best wishes always. Hugs

                  1. Hi Ali. Yes it does. You are correct. But the article is not the headline. If you want to read it, I will share it with you. If not then as you say we have talked this to death and have nothing to say. I prefer to make my judgments on the entirety of something, not just the headline or the first bite. Hugs

        2. BTW-At least 3 Dems have been arrested and are facing trials over simply performing their lawful and constitutionally mandated duties of oversight. Dems ArE doing things. This is the same thing we kept going back and forth about during the runup to the election. Media are not our friends. Not we the people’s, and not the Dems. If we rely on what we see without looking out ourselves to see what’s happening, then we get these cynical viewpoints that if someone isn’t getting shot, they’re not doing enough. There is nothing good or correct about that viewpoint, nothing. It’s not funny to say Dems should get shot, after JFK, MLK, RFK, and other Dems who’ve been shot. Yeah, Reagan got shot, but nobody else on the Republicans’s side NoBoDy ShOuLd Be GeTtInG shot doing their elected jobs. That has to be clear, and that clarity has to be topmost.

Again, if we want “the Dems” to “do something,” we need to do something to show we have their backs. They are humans just as we are. We are supposed to work together.

          1. Hi Ali. At least 3 Dems have been arrested and are facing trials over simply performing their lawful and constitutionally mandated duties of oversight. And the charges have been dropped on the Mayor. But here is the point. Members of congress have been charged yet only the mayor sued. No real outcry from the democrats in congress. Frost wrote a strongly worded letter. Again I ask why are the democrats not on the Sunday shows raising hell about this. They should be on podcasts. Hell they should be on Joe Rogan’s podcast pointing out the law is clear that these members of congress have the right to visit unannounced at any time of day.

If we rely on what we see without looking out ourselves to see what’s happening, then we get these cynical viewpoints that if someone isn’t getting shot, they’re not doing enough. That is crap. The point is the democrats in congress need to less comfortable sitting in their offices and be willing to do what is necessary to get the message out. The point is they need to rattle the cages of those in power instead of being neutered. The republicans don’t mind raising their voices or calling people out. I see it on the news, I read it in the news media, and I hear / see the clips of it on podcasts. I comb the news as you know. I don’t see or hear the democratic leadership bring these points to the people. They are silent and mute.

If the democrats want the people to back them they need to earn it. They need to show they are worth backing. Right now I figure that they are sitting on their hands waiting for the midterms hoping people will remember they are the good guys. Hugs

    2. Hi Suze. I would prefer you not be shot also. Like I told Ten Bears if someone has to get hurt I prefer it to be their side. But the article is about how the Democratic Party seems to want to play by the 1980s rules and be nice to each other but that is not the way the the republicans are doing it. The old saying is republicans understand power and aggressively use it when in charge, the democrats want to please everyone with bipartisan letting the republican control the agenda. The republicans are rude, crude, loud, brash, and willing to hurt people to get their way. The democrats care about the hostages, republicans would kill the hostages to get to what they want. Hugs

      1. If that’s what this article is about, then it is opinion, not news, thus not necessarily completely true, as it’s shaded by opinion. But the rhetoric is there. It’s right there, and should be denounced.

        1. Hi Ali. The Pod Save America guys read a poll on their YouTube channel showing less than 10% of the public polled knew about the stuff in tRump’s bail out the Billionaire bill especially the Medicaid cuts. Did you know that yesterday tRump threatened to put a 200% tariff on drugs imported to the country? He wants other countries to pay what we pay and think tariffs will do that. A lot of US drugs are made overseas. But have the democrats even written an op ed for a national newspaper? On anything? Hugs
