I do wonder about that. Not that they are or aren’t, but how many at that age will identify as being ‘other’ because they’re still not sure about themselves. Kids that age (and I do hate that word “teenager”) are still figuring themselves out, and trying out possiblities (kid shaves her head, because she hates her hair) (15 year old goes with a buddy to a tatoo parlor…just once…)

Hi Judy. I understand what you are saying. Like I said before many kids growing up hid being gay because of the bullying and violence that the straight cis assholes dished out thinking they were normal and the LGBTQ+ were sickos according to what they were taught. It was like when kids were punished for being left handed they did not admit they were. However that changed in the 2000s when programs promoting acceptance and tolerance towards those who were different. It was working even in red states with high fundie Christian people. That is why one of the co-authors of the Florida don’t say gay bill wrote and pushed it. He claimed that it horrified him that gay and trans kids were accepted instead of ostracized, harassed, threatened, and in his words “what happened to the days we used to beat those kids up”? Once the kids felt safe coming out they did because it is hard to live in the closet pretending to be something you are not all the time and worried that you will make a mistake that will out you. Just as more kids admitted to being left handed once they stopped getting punished for it more kids are willing to come out and be themselves once they felt safe to do so. Sadly there are still young early teens thrown out of their homes for being LGBTQ+ and trans kids are being forced to go through the wrong puberty changing their bodies forever in ways they hate all because bigots can’t accept that some people are different from the majority. The idea that much of this hate is pushed by religious conservatives that think being trans is saying god made a mistake, but they won’t accept that god made the kids / adult trans on purpose. Live and let live to these people is live the way I demand you do to make me happy. Hugs
