It’s telling that the Republicans spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of attack by Trump on social media. Only more evidence of the US being an authoritarian state.

Hi Barry. Yes it is. It is horrible for those of us on the left seeing our country totally become Russia and endorse Russian type polices. Or maybe China type polices as the republicans want a one party rule over the country as long as it is them that does the ruling. So many bastions of democracy are folding due to money. The corporate media which is always on the chase for bigger profits are terrified to anger the mob boss tRump who will then block their mergers. So nighttime hosts get fired, day time host get talking points to hold to, all shows get told what they can never say or print. Schools now must be regressive pushing the straight cis normative Christian lifestyle and deny the history of slavery along with removing any programs assisting non-whites. When high powered law firms and even the courts are scared of the wealthy benefactors or the maga cult mob. Now they are using the Kirk killing to try to create a narrative that the right is pure and clean while the left is full of violent domestic terrorist so fully shutting down any public dissent. tRump has declared the loose collection of people with no leader Antifa domestic terrorists. Antifa simply is anti fascist. That is admitting that his government is fascist. The demonizing of anyone or group that is not white straight cis Christian Male and the purge of any group representing other groups is so like the 1930s Germany that it is terrifying to anyone who understands or is an LGBTQ+person. I admit Barry, Ron is scared. Not just about our being allowed to be ourselves and to openly say we are a couple / putting it on forms / displaying pride rainbow colors. Ron keeps researching how to immigrant to Canada. Barry Ron is 70 yrs old and he lived during the most abusive tie to gay people. He is scared that this lawless denial of rights will extend to the LGBTQ+ … to the gay people. And I know he is right.
Our last visit to a big grocery store a young woman walked by me loudly saying she loved my pride hat. Then a hater came into the isle. Then he returned for a second run. He was quickly shut down on his return visit as I stepped out to confront him, two Walmart pickers put their carts between us blocking the bigot from me. I would thank them but … I did not ask for that. I would have loved the confrontation and I have no doubt that I may not have been able to take him down with my decades training but he did not seem to have any training except his bigotry and hate. I was willing to take the chance. But the staff t Walmart was not. He raged a bit without seeming to understand he could run around the other isle to get to me. Which made me understand he did not want to do so. Maybe he was a bi / gay kid trying so hard to be straight that he had to show resistance. Even when everything needed had been done. Barry in a later comment you talked about the comments / cartoons. Do you still see the same? Best wishes always

as scary as it is, it’s also a good sign when senators start reacting this way en masse. He loses their support, he’s lost the game.

And every time we the people see these stories, we need to let the legislators know that we have their backs when they resist, and let them know what we the people really want.
They all work for us, after all.

Hi Judy. I agree that it is a good sign to see them try to stand up to tRump. They are tired of feeling belittled and made afraid of the maga base. These people who are in congress have egos also and tRump is treating them like they are the little kids at the mercy of a larger older bully. They don’t like the change that has happened. Plus I think some are realizing that if they don’t soon stand up to him they won’t be able to do so in the future when he has more control. Hugs
