  1. Normally I do not adhere that much to the Old Testament…HOWEVER…..
    Samuel 8 v4-22
Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.” But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the LORD. And the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day—with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also. Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.” So Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked him for a king. And he said, “This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots. He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and some to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give them to his servants. He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants. And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put them to his work. He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the LORD will not hear you in that day.” Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.” And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them in the hearing of the LORD. So the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed their voice, and make them a king.” And Samuel said to the men of Israel, “Every man go to his city.”

You gotta admit, similarities with USA 2020s

    Take care you guys.

    1. Hi Roger. Heed the voice of the people … Oh how I wish the “leaders” of our country, our lawmakers had done that before we came to our doom. If the Democratic Party had listened to the people instead of the big money donors we wouldn’t have run Hillary Clinton against tRump nor would we have had Biden trying to run for a second term. But big money talks far louder than the voice of millions of people. The entire thing that got tRump elected twice is he made the people think he was listening to them. He was only listening to a select few that held his same views but the got tired of telling Biden they were hurting and to stop supplying weapons to Israel and he ignored them. Hugs

      1. Sadly Trump will say he heeded the voice of the people and will twist the results of the 2024 election any way he chooses.
There were several tragedies in that election, probably the biggest one being that folk thought not voting at all was a smart move.
The differences between the two could not have been greater. Trump and his people just didn’t shut up about what they would do if he was elected and that was very grim.
It is a bitter pill to swallow but sometimes in elections you either end up voting against one side, or choosing the least worst alternative. It is a grimly simple as that.
There is no ‘good’ choice, just the least, worst.

        Take care you guys.

        1. Hi Roger. I watched a Sam Seder video where they compared what tRump was claiming on Fox and reality. tRump was clearly being managed by his handler(s) in the White House. tRump is not the one calling most of the shots, it is Stephen Miller ad a few wealthy ideological drive people. tRump loves the pomp and he wants to be adored, worshiped. As log as he can act like a dictator who is constantly praised he doesn’t care what the ones in power do. So they tell him that his tariffs and other acts have reduced inflations and costs, so he claims that with over the top confidence. He claims that gas (petrol) is $1.98 when I just paid over 3 dollars for it. The US is in an extremely dangerous place where those that normally would protect their own power and rein in the president are too scared of him to oppose him. I am sure it has happened in the past in other countries and they survived, but I sure don’t know of any. Hugs

          1. Hi Scottie.
Most nations in the long haul of history have been through something like this.
For the USA this is its first turn. For even during the Civil War both governments were aware and took note of the opposition within their borders.
It’s a frightening experience for level headed folk when the state abrogates its responsibility for the well-being of all of its citizens.
At some stage there will be a reckoning.

            Take care both.
