Music Against War Today

suze mentioned a great song, and I’m happy to play it today. It’s a rocker! Here’s what Bee shared; there is some personal history, plus her chosen song.

And for suze, For The World! Edwin Starr:

  1. thanks Allie… I remember the Temptations singing this back during the VietNam “conflict”…when George’s dad, brother, father and cousin were all overseas….and George enlisted. It wasn’t categorized as a “war” back then….even though so many young men and women were killed in combat. This song resonated with those of us who were at home waiting and hoping our people would someday come home and not in a casket Out of my graduating class of 256, we “lost”128 of them in VietNam.

    1. I remember the song, remember the conflict was called a “police action” as if that made a difference in what was happening, and even remember that Nixon won an election because he was supposed to bring everyone home. Huh. I was a child, but could read, understand, and see that it was awful and wrong.

        1. I think many people did. I remember a discussion about it in Girl Scouts. The general consensus was, Nixon was going to end the US involvement in Vietnam. And yeah, lots of people were unhappy with their votes after Nixon took office.
