Look Who Visited Scottie’s Playtime!

Just a quick one to let readers know, and to thank Panagah Amn-Pet Safe Shelter in Kabul, Afghanistan, for visiting Scottie’s Playtime! Give them a look whenever you have a minute. I looked around and did not find anything disturbing, though of course the stories are sad; yet the writing is poetic. (Most of the Humane Society ads in the US are more disturbing than what I saw here, as a comparison point.)

  1. Hi Ali. Thank you for posting this. A long time ago in our youth Ron and I had a company that made safe dog treats in so many flavors. But the fact is no kill shelters are so underfunded or underpromoted in a society that has an overabundance of furry people who may have been or decentance of former home pets that sadly many family pets get put down because when the one who took care of them dies there is no more support.

When my adoptive mother lived in our park model she took in several cats. She was unable to take care of them but loved their company. A story for another time. But as she was going into hospice there was a panic over what to do with her cats that had only been inside / civilised for about 4 years. Luckily we were able to find a no kill large shelter that required a large donation and food to take them.

Sadly that is why when Ron’s baby Tupac walks the rainbow bridge we won’t be accepting any more furry friends with tails into our home. Ron will be 71 this year and has health issues, I am very disabled and neither of us can reasonably accept that we can take care of an animal and give them the loving care they deserve. It will hurt but both of us are adult enough to understand that our feelings / wants have to come second to the needs of the small furry family members with tails that live with us. Hugs
