when has it ever been hidden–I think a lot of folks just brushed it away, a lot ignored it (“did he just say what I think he said?”) and many agreed with him.

Beat me to it! And it’s not just him! This was blatantly out in the open from the moment Obama ran for President.
The Republican Party has been solidly racist ever since Goldwater courted the Jim Crow Democrats in 1964, and OG Nixon welcomed them in with the Southern Strategy and Reagan put it front and center openly. “Welfare Queens” and “Young Bucks eating T-Bones”, anyone?
All Trump’s been is more openly crude about it (and this isn’t his dementia-enabled disinhibition, either…he started the 2016 campaign with a racist screed after coming down the Golden Escalator, and after YEARS of pursuing the Birther lie)

Hi Bruce. Yes and it is well known that quite a few republican members of congress are die hard racists. And as you say tRump has been open about not only his own racism but he has encouraged and played up hi smaga base’s racism. And the kicker is the staff member who has been in tRump administration and orbit from day one… is Stephen Miller. tRump and his business had to settle a civil rights violation by refusing to rent or sell apartments to black people. Donald Trump and his family’s real estate company were sued in 1973 for allegedly refusing to rent to black people, violating the Fair Housing Act. The case was settled in 1975 with a consent decree prohibiting discrimination. He never outgrew it or learned better, he just hides it around black people he can use. Hugs

Hi Judy. Your point is well taken and I would say the republicans in congress who are not die hard racists and a lot of them are, have brushed it away and are ignoring it. Hugs
