This feels like the end of the road for education. No one is taught to think for themselves, they can’t spel, they can’t add without a calculator, and I’ll wager you not one in ten can name four Presidents.

Hi Judy. I agree. The right has long wanted to destroy public education. It really comes down to three reasons. One is that people who got a higher education tended to move more to the left politically and many leave religion also. It is why some religions try to limit higher education. Another reason is profit. They want to profit by privatizing education. Think of it, making states or local governments, or even the parents pay a company or even better in some minds is paying a church to teach the kids. Private businesses could rake in the money while creating a tiered education system where kids only get to learn based on their families income level. And it makes kids and families open to abuse to be able to get educated. For churches it forces families into the church pews and is a way for churches to get more revenue while preaching their doctrines to the kids. But the reason the wealthy want this privatizing the education system is they feel lower income families should remain workers only and only get enough education to follow the directions of the management which would be higher educated children of higher income families while the executives and business owners would be the highest level educated children of the wealthy families. Again it is all about keeping the wealthy wealthy and in charge while the rest serve the masters. Hugs
