Judge dismisses human smuggling charges against Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was mistakenly deported

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A human smuggling case against Kilmar Abrego Garcia, whose mistaken deportation helped galvanize opposition to President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, was thrown out Friday.
Abrego Garcia’s deportation to El Salvador last year became an embarrassment for Trump officials when they were ordered to return him to the U.S. Abrego Garcia claimed that both the timing of the criminal charges and inflammatory statements about him by top Trump officials demonstrated that the prosecution was vindictive.
U.S. District Judge Waverly Crenshaw, ruling from Nashville, granted Abrego Garcia’s motion to dismiss for “selective or vindictive prosecution.”
Without Abrego Garcia’s “successful lawsuit challenging his removal to El Salvador, the government would not have brought this prosecution,” said Crenshaw, dismissing claims of “new evidence” against him.
In earlier court filings, Crenshaw wrote he had found some evidence that the prosecution against Abrego Garcia “may be vindictive.” The judge said many statements by Trump administration officials “raise cause for concern.” He cited a statement by then-Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche that seemed to suggest the Justice Department charged Abrego Garcia because he won his wrongful-deportation case.
Mistakenly deported? Not likely.
It seems like he should be eligible for that fund, the one for those that had the government abuse them by aiming the DOJ at them.

Hi Ali. You are so correct in your skepticism. The fact is that no one that in any way impedes the Stephen Miller attempt to create a white ethnostate is going to get a dime from the slush fund tRump is creating to award those who broke the law to help him stay in power illegally. BTW I have not yet started the cartoons / memes / news roundup, and I plan to start now but I doubt there is any way I can complete it tonight. Hugs

Hi MDavis. You are correct in the idea that the worst people in the US government went to war with one not white male simply because he made their hate campaign against brown people clear to the world / the US totally visible. The hate campaign of Stephen Miller to make the US a white ethnostate was so clearly exposed with what they did to these mostly innocent men was horrific. Only 8 of the men had any criminal record and none was for a violent crime. But that ruined Stephen Miller’s ICE is only coming for the worst of the worst narrative the White House was pushing to the public to facilitate making the US an apartheid state like South Africa once was. Stephen Miller is one of the most virulent white supremacists in the government and even as a teen in high school stated his sadistic desires. The deaths of Renée Good and Alex Pretti can be put at his feet as he demanded ICE agents engage in the most crude and violent manner with protestors or those against ICE actions as he weirdly thought that would create sympathy for the white supremacy movement in the US. Yes I agree he should be one of the first to get a payout from the illegal fund but as Ali hinted at we all know it will be used to benefit tRump and his supporters only. Anyone who makes tRump look bad will never see a cent from that fund. Hugs
