I post this drivel to ask even if all the salacious drug and sex stuff about Hunter was correct what would it matter? He is not an official advisor to his father such as the tRump children were. Hunter has no part of the government, draws no paycheck from the government, and is a private citizen. But things like this are an attempt to get their base to associate President Biden with sex and drugs through his son. They just can not find anything to attack Joe Biden with that sticks.

Cornyn Attacks Same-Sex Marriage Ruling At SCOTUS Hearing: “Who Do These People Really Think They Are?”

During the second day of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing Tuesday, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) took the occasion to attack marriage equality. His line of questioning comes as conservatives have continued to use state legislatures and the courts to roll back rights for LGBTQ people. While a majority of Americans support marriage equality, it remains a target for repeal by many on the right.
Cornyn’s objections are, first, that granting equal rights to LGBTQ people conflicts with the religious beliefs of some people. To which Jackson responded, “Well, senator, that is the nature of a right. That when there is a right, it means that there are limitations on regulation, even if people are regulating pursuant to their sincerely held religious beliefs, even if people are regulating pursuant to their sincerely held religious beliefs.”
The Washington Blade reports:
The Texas Republican went on to describe the issue as not just an overriding the will of the states and the people, but also major religions, and asked Jackson if she agrees “marriage is not simply a governmental institution, it’s also a religious institution.”
When Jackson replied, “Well, senator, marriages are often performed in religious institutions,” Cornyn followed up with questioning on whether she agrees many major religions, including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, have defined marriage as one man, one woman.
Jackson wouldn’t engage with Cornyn beyond what was directly necessary: “I am aware that there are various religious faiths that define marriage in a traditional way.”
Please read the news stories. I am tired so may not post both but I might. I am also discouraged. For those who say this issue is settled it is not. See all the attempts to roll it back and undo same sex marriage. In their minds their religious views trump all else. They feel entitled to have that view back. They are not content to just live by their religious doctrines, but they insist that everyone else does also. Notice his wording, it is the new Republican buss word term ” offended”. Cannot have books that offend Christians, cannot have history taught that offends white people, cannot have ideology taught that offends right wing maga cult members. I think I will go play Halo tonight, I feel very down.

The Republican desire to have government do nothing for the people and everything for the wealthy has killed the dreams of the people.

Why are far right wing nut cartoonist so desperate to keep money pouring into the pockets of wealthy oil companies? The fact is that both things will causes death and destruction. Both are preventable. Both are caused by man.

This cartoon lies while making a claim the other news agencies lied. The right thinks that just because there is a laptop that means all their wild claims were correct. Spoiler alert the report they cite states there was nothing incriminating found on the laptop. Nothing! It is like the Durham report where they claimed that it showed Hillary was spying on tRump. No the report did not say that. They claim the report showed that Hillary was working with the Russians, no it did not. In the case of Hunter’s laptop Rudy kept claiming that he had it in his bedroom, but I guess that was another lie? These people see no wrong in anything a Republican does and believe tRump is pure greatness, yet the find issue with Biden for even the smallest misstep.
While this cartoon is correct stating the US has invaded with made up pretexts it doesn’t mean that the US shouldn’t help the Ukrainians and stand up to Putin. We did wrong, and we should be held accountable. Putin / Russia is doing wrong, needs to be stopped and punished. This must not be allowed by any country.

I do get tired of going over the same things. Her chemistry levels are with in specs for a woman. She was getting beat by other women but that doesn’t get much press. She has put in the time and effort to get good at her craft, which is swimming. Some people just excel at their sport, and others do not. Women have been under the accusation of being too manly since women’s sports started. I posted that this morning as I was getting up. What about the woman runner that was so good she was breaking records, there were claims she was really a man and other crap. She was born a woman and because she was really good she was accused of being a man? What does that say about how women’s sports and the women in them are really seen?
Lia Thomas came in 5th in a race yesterday. Seems average to me. This is something that the right likes to hide and only stress the wins so it seems the trans people are sweeping every event in women’s sports. But that is a lie.
The number of people that get sexual reassignment surgery is extremely small as a percentage of the population. The number that participate in sports is even smaller. It’s certainly nt a problem that needs to be addressed in Congress or in the state legislatures. Let the governing bodies of the various sports address it.

A) If you’re not good enough to be competitive on the men’s team, you’re sure not going to be making records on the women’s team. There’s not THAT much difference in most sports.
B) Would anybody actually believe that a jock would want to become a woman and draw the ire of conservative homophobes and transphobes merely because he’s not the top man on the team?

And you can’t. You can’t because it doesn’t exist. A tiny handful of people on hormones or who’ve had surgery want to compete and that’s a national issue because Tucker and his buddies say it is. Why?
Their usual whine is “gender assigned at birth”. Yet the briefest possible glance at Caspar Semenya’s Wikipedia page clearly says HER gender assigned at birth was female, and she’s never taken hormone therapy of any kind. But SHE has issues being allowed to compete.

It’s NOT because of gas prices. It’s because they don’t want to pay taxes to support anyone but themselves. Trade lower gas prices for lower education, restrictive healthcare, lax safety regulations, more government in your private parts, etc.
Reading the comments on this cartoon was enlightening. Every tenth comment explained that the report did not say that. Every tenth comment explained what the report said, and how it differed from the right wing narrative. Then after the comment that explained things there was a rash of right wing misinformation posted as the real true story and then the insults. That is what the right wing is today.

When the moderator, a Yale professor, tried to control the situation — reminding students about the campus’s rule to let speakers be heard — the crowd turned on her. As a nation — and the education revolution we’re witnessing is part of this — we have to get back to promoting the free exchange of ideas.
