GOP Senators Reject Carlson’s Pro-Russia Rantings

Politico reports:

Republican senators are unmoved by Tucker Carlson’s relentless warpath against support for Ukraine — even as it widens an existing rift in their party. In recent days, Carlson has attacked Republicans who are pushing for a stronger response to Moscow’s aggression — slamming Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) as “ignorant” and Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho) as “a moron masquerading as a senator” and “pompous neocon buffoon” simply for advocating long-standing GOP orthodoxy when it comes to Russia.

“On individuals up here who are decision-makers, I don’t hear any disagreement about the position Russia is in,” Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), said in a brief interview. “I don’t agree with those views,” Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, said when asked about Carlson’s monologues. Some GOP senators rolled their eyes when asked about Carlson’s attacks and indicated that the far-right Fox host isn’t impacting their calculus on an emerging legislative path, even as his views are picking up steam among the base.

    1. Hello John. Yes they are. I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that the Republican party of Reagan who called Russia evil now supports Putin and the right wing media praises Russia. Some say it is because they are an almost entirely white country that hates the same culture things Republicans do, such as LGBTQ+, and allowing religion into the common peoples lives through government. Still to me who remembers the better dead than red years this turn around bothers me greatly.

      1. It was a joke from Obamas time (If Obama found a cure for cancer the GOP would accuse him of a war on oncologists), but it’s actually true today with this mindless cult thing going on. Sad to watch from the outside looking in.

        1. Hello John. I read that the same Koch money that funded and created the Tea Party has been used to fund the ant-vax and ant-mask groups. The Koch political machine see all Covid precautions as costing them money and lowering their profits. One good thing The Charles Koch thinks the maga Jan 6th went way to far and has tried to curb any of his political network from backing those who supported it. Sadly from what I have read he has lost control over that and so it doesn’t matter how he feels about it now.

    1. Hello Nan. The rumor is that Tucker wants to run for president. He has seen how Putin helped tRump. He sees the power of Putin’s misinformation campaigns. Tucker would like to be an authoritarian president who becomes the first US dictator, something all the new crop of Republican presidential candidates want to be. The idea that any Republican who seen how close tRump came to being a dictator and praises tRump’s actions wants to do what tRump did but better.
