Sorry just got up at 4:30 PM. I slept most of the day. No I am not sure why I am so tired again. Ron is going to get me the B+ complex the endocrinologist said I need that I stopped taking. My next labs with him will check those levels. Just took my blood sugar to have supper, 283. No that is not good. yes it could explain why I was so sleepy. No it was not that high this morning. No I did not eat anything to do that (donuts, cakes, pies, sweets of any kinds are off limits to Scottie) Just had a small supper, but the insulin is surging through me and I want to go back to bed. And I am sweating. When the insulin and blood sugar are surging to battle in my body I sweat, and sweat, and sweat … regardless of the temp in the house. I am so sleepy again. Hugs
On to the story, why are the poor black kids being shoved into the J.R.O.T.C. programs? Really asking why poor kids, and black kids are being shoved without being asked or even allowed to get out of these military programs? Something really is wrong in the US. Hugs

J.R.O.T.C. programs, taught by military veterans at some 3,500 high schools across the country, are supposed to be elective, and the Pentagon has said that requiring students to take them goes against its guidelines. But The New York Times found that thousands of public school students were being funneled into the classes without ever having chosen them, either as an explicit requirement or by being automatically enrolled.
A review of J.R.O.T.C. enrollment data collected from more than 200 public records requests showed that dozens of schools have made the program mandatory or steered more than 75 percent of students in a single grade into the classes. A vast majority of the schools with those high enrollment numbers were attended by a large proportion of nonwhite students and those from low-income households, The Times found.

So according to the right wing, it’s illegal for schools to teach Critical Race Theory (whatever that is), and universities may not use race as a criterion, not even to ensure a ethnically diverse student body.
But this shit is legal???
And most of those kids are the ones that MOST need to learn Critical Race Theory. Forced military indoctrination is intended to prevent that.

Hello Roger. Thank you. Never fear even though I have also been very much missing from the blog / comments I am doing everything I can to get back to it.
Roger, again you have taught me something about history and mankind that I did not know. I had seen part of a new movie on Netflix Ron was watching that covered this, but I thought it was just made up for the movie. The story was about Dracula, his father was a ruler of an area and the son was taken by the Turks as a child along with many other little boys to be trained to fight the wars of their overlords. The movie implied the boys taken were badly abused, and the setup of the story is that he returned home to be a just and good ruler over his people but then the ones that had taken / enslaved him came and demanded more boys including his son. He turned into the “monster” to save them.
I wonder that the boys taken did not rise up against those that took them from their homes. but then it seems they were given the best training and weapons also positions in society. They were made even more important than the sons of the Muslims that were their “superiors”? I guess the mindset must have been different then. I would loved to have been taken and given better schooling and opportunities than I had growing up, just a thought. I doubt the abuse could have been worse than I had at home and I would have eaten more often.
As to the military / schools forcing the poor to join, it has been that way for a long time in the US. The tradition that the wealthy sent their children to the military so they could have a political career died with the Vietnam war. Now no one wealthy or famous goes into the military. I only did it because I had no other choice. If I wanted to keep eating and a place to sleep, I had to join. Everyone I knew in the military was basically in that same boat. That was in 1981. When times are good in the US then military recruitment falls, when times are bad then it rises. That is because as I said the idea of military service being honorable and a steppingstone is gone. It has gotten better now that gays and trans people can serve openly, but there is no support for the troops. The republican’s campaign on it and shout it from the treetops but they just again voted against funding for the veterans, for the needs of the troops. The majority of the massive spending on defense in this country goes to big corporations for profit in making the toys. the hardware. Barracks are horrible now, deadly in some cases, the needs of the troops in daily life are substandard. But the profits of the big defense contractors have never been higher.
If everyone’s children had to do service in the military, then all these needless send in the military to do this or that political thing would stop. We wouldn’t have invaded Iraq or stayed in Afghanistan for 20 years if the politicians’ kids were the ones on the ground there. Just my thoughts. Hugs

Those lands were ones constantly fought over and path ways for invasions. Brutality and the hardened approach to survival were built into Life. Children could only adapt and survive. Something which continues in parts of the world today.
Vlad (The Impaler) as he is sometimes known in war against the Turks used terror. There are various versions of the account, but the then Turkish Sultan was confronted by vast numbers of captives impaled on stakes, again accounts differ some say he was over-awed others he was scared ‘witless’. I guess something of this was shown in the film. He is something of a folk hero in Romania but there are no true angels in the Histories of Rulers and Wars.
