The Texas State government sounds and reads so correct and cautious, doesn’t it?
The next step is how they would define ‘criminals’ – not necessarily folk who go into prisons, but receive cautions or small fines for what the State defines as illegal acts- such as……well now there’s an open door.
See how it’s done.
By small steps you would hardly notice.

Hi Roger. Texas has far more brown / Latino voters than white. It is only gerrymandering and voter suppression that has kept the white straight cis males in charge. Plus there is at least one billionaire trying to force the state to be a theocracy. He is the one that saved Paxton from impeachment by threatening to fund the primary challenger to every person who voted for it. As is far too common now for both republicans and some democrats they will do anything to keep their seat in congress. They see it as the golden ticket, it gives them power and that power gives them along with their family’s wealth. They do not see it as working for the people, they see it as a way to funnel money to themselves. Plus it allows them and again their family members to violate local minor laws with no fear of punishment. The stories of high ranking members of government being users of child prostitutes is well discussed by trafficked adults when they were kids on the MS site. The White men in Texas are desperate to stay in power as they know if the non-whites vote in their numbers then the state will turn blue overnight and most of them will lose their jobs. That is why they are trying so hard to cement in law their superiority and anti-voting rules so they can stay in power and the brown people won’t be in charge. Hugs. Scottie

The same mentality which played its part in placing Hitler in power. The very wealthy were frightened by the rise of the Communists and thought the answer was someone on the Right of equal ruthlessness. They thought they could control him.
And now on the US the folk who ascribe to White Privilege were infuriated by an African American winning the Whitehouse twice by undisputable majorities.
You are spot on Scottie. They are doing their fanatical, hysterical best to ensure this doesn’t happen again. Similar to post-Civil War South.

Hi Roger. Yes and they are trying the same old tired playbooks they used with Obama and Hillary. The anti-black racism, the misogyny, the insults that take priority over policy issues. It comes down to do you want low mentality self entitled social misfits who feel rules don’t apply to them as they demand to rule over you and your life. Compared to the smart well educated policy driven black woman who wants to work for the people and has polices that help the lower incomes far more than the upper incomes and hires smart respectful people to work for her. I just don’t understand why so many of our country follow the thugs or let the thugs decide the path of what used to be their party. Hugs. Scottie

Hi Scottie.
Thanks to you, I now know of Rev. Ed Trevors.
I could go on for paragraphs about my theories as to why they follow him.
The Reverend sum it up far better than I could:

I learned this during then-Sec. of State Kris Kobach’s term; go weekly to vote.org and check your registration. These purges happen rapidly, with news of them lagging behind the actions. Every state isn’t a problem, but if there’s a Republican SoS, or other Republicans higher up in the state, check your registration, and tell everyone you know to do the same, even if you don’t know their politics. Everyone eligible should vote.

Hi Ali. I agree. Also know to ask for a provisional ballot if you are not on the rolls. Hugs. Scottie
