The FBI is aware of the offensive and racist text messages sent to African American and Black communities around the country and is in contact with the Justice Department and other federal authorities on the matter.
The reports are not identical and vary in their specific language, but many say the recipient has been selected to pick cotton on a plantation.
The text message recipients have now expanded to high school students, as well as both the Hispanic and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Some recipients reported being told they were selected for deportation or to report to a re-education camp. The messages have also been reported as being received via email communication.
Although we have not received reports of violent acts stemming from these offensive messages, we are evaluating all reported incidents and engaging with the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.
We are also sharing information with our law enforcement partners and community, academia, and faith leaders.

Hi MDavis. Sorry for the late reply, first both computers were down, then on Thursday and Friday night I was sick all night. No I have been mostly offline this week only on my phone for news so I have not heard. Maybe the same group that told black people to report to plantations to be slaves. People like Nancy Mace who thrive on attention and strife. They live to get other people upset and angry. The worst thing you can do is to ignore them no matter how much shit they throw. They can’t even wait until they can actually do this stuff with impunity. I hope they get arrested soon. I know they’ll just start back up after the Don’s inaugurated, but sheesh.

Hi Ali. This is completely like Nancy Mace throwing a hissy fit over the single use bathrooms. Single use in only one person. She twitted over 500 times in a couple of days about McBride using the congressional office space bathrooms yet not once did she mention the needs of her state. She does it for attention. She gives her staff a handbook telling them they have to get her media spots at least so many times a day and stuff. She needs the attention and like Marge Greene is a troll to get it. They figure it is easiest to get attention and fund raise by upsetting people that actually working for the good of the people. She is still a needy bratty school girl looking for attention. I bet she stands in front of the mirror practicing her pouts and smiles. As I say the worst thing you can do to them is ignoring them. They hate that. That is why McBride handled the situation greatly. She made Mace look like a little kid who was screaming look at me look at me. Hugs
