‘Dictator’ Trump Floats Idea of Canceling Midterm Elections
OK this is a yellow journalism site and make their money on sensationalism and trying to get the most click as soon as possible, but often I have found them to be really spot on when it comes to the tRump admin. So read with a grain of salt or the entire shaker but remember tRump keeps hinting at this all the time. He clearly doesn’t want to leave office. So he once did a riot insurrection to try to stay in power, what will he do now in his demented state of mind? Hugs
Donald Trump mused about canceling the 2026 midterms during his appearance before a room full of GOP lawmakers.
The president visited the Kennedy Center for the House Republican retreat, where he spoke about the looming election while also going off on a series of other topics.
Trump, 79, complained about even having to run against Democrats before floating the idea.
“I won’t say cancel the election, they should cancel the election because the fake news will say ‘he wants the elections canceled. He’s a dictator.’ They always call me a dictator,” Trump said with a smile.
He argued that “nobody’s worse than Obama and the people that surrounded Biden.”

It’s not the first time the president has made light of the idea of canceling a U.S. election.
Trump made the remarks on January 6, five years after the attack on the U.S. Capitol, as he continues to deny he lost the 2020 election.
Just before talking about calling for the midterms to be cancelled, Trump boasted about his first year back in office. He lamented that the party in power typically loses seats in the midterms.
“But even if it’s successful, they don’t win. I don’t know what it is. There’s something psychological, like you vote against,” Trump said.
The president went on to tout his 2024 election results, which included winning every swing state.
“But they say that when you win he presidency, you lose the midterm,” Trump told the lawmakers.
He told the group of Republicans that he wishes they could explain to him “what the hell is going on with the mind of the public because we have the right policy.”
Trump claimed during his more than an hour speech that he had provided Republicans with a “roadmap.”
“It’s a roadmap to victory. You have so many good nuggets. You have to use them,” Trump declared. “If you can sell them, we’re going to win.”
Trump encouraged Republican lawmakers to focus on favored nations, the border and take the health care issue “away from” Democrats as they look ahead to the midterms.

The president claimed GOP lawmakers can own the issue of health insurance by giving the money to the people rather than insurance companies. However, he still has not provided specifics on a plan or a path forward in Congress.
Instead, Trump urged Republicans to be flexible, and it could be their issue.
“You could own health care. Figure it out!” Trump declared.
However, the president specifically mentioned flexibility when it came to the Hyde Amendment which bans using federal money for abortion. The comment has already gotten pushback from conservatives.
The president also issued a warning to Republicans. During his more than an hour-long remarks, Trump slammed Democrats for impeaching him twice during his first term.
“You gotta win the midterms,” Trump said. “Because if we don’t win the midterms, it’s just going to be, I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me. I’ll get impeached.”

I think many reasonable people began having concerns about future elections after POTUS’s ’24 campaign rallies when he told people to get out and vote for him, and they’d never have to vote again.
I don’t mind the Daily Beast, other than they don’t like my ad block, and it’s difficult to read their stuff without it. Thanks for posting it in full here.
Hi Ali. Your ad block triggers them? I use advert blockers both in my VPN and my Vivaldi browser and they don’t seem to catch it? Weird. Today it is so hard to figure out what will make a website work or wonk out as the entire objective is to gather all the data about us as possible. I hate that. I am glad you are able to view it. One advert blocker I always like was Ad Block Plus. But as I said I now have it in my NordVPN and my Vivaldi browser I don’t need the other.
I do have concerns as you say that may or may not be valid as states control elections but tRump’s DOJ has been trying hard to get blue states and blue city’s voter rolls data that legally they are not entitled to. The big question is why? The problem I see is not tRump cancelling the elections but he will try to suppress voting in any blue districts by voter roll purges or voter suppressions so that the democratic votes simply don’t count. Already we have seen the change in the post office date stamps which will mean that now votes may not be stamped when posted so not counted even if posted on time at the late end.
The fact is republicans and the right know their ideas and ways of governing are not popular with the public. If it was not for gerrymandering and voter suppression they would be a far more minority party. So rather than change their ideas, they change the system. So while they get large rural areas the democrats have to turn out in nearly impossible over whelming numbers to simply get a small majority win. It is not fair but it is the system. In the future if democrats ever get power they need to stop all gerrymandering and work on stopping voter suppression activities. I expect tRump will unleash ICE goons on blue state black voting areas this next elections to try to suppress or interfere with the voting. What do you think? Hugs
Yeah, I use Ad Block Plus. DS and friends recommended it back when they were in high school, and I just keep it. Daily Beast wants me to whitelist them; I try to read after allowing only for the page I’m on, but eventually, it crowds with stuff. RawStory is even worse about it; I don’t bother with theirs until I can find the story on Yahoo or somewhere.
Hi Ali. I wonder if you do the reload and stop it quickly trick if that would work. Other than that I can’t really think of anything because like I said I rarely get a block because of adverts and I don’t see them. Hugs
I can sometimes get a few paragraphs more read, on a refresh, if I’m ready to go, but the page still stops me. It’s not a big deal to me; here, you usually post the whole story anyway, so it’s golden.
Send me an email. I receive and answer same day. Tomorrow is Saturday, and I should have plenty of time between 8:30 and 11 AM central, plus maybe later if it’s really snow here. I won’t be up before 8 central, I am certain. And I’ll be on and off during the day, and always look at email.
Never mind, sorry. Kamyk asked me to do a go fund me for him as he lost all his income. I told him that I would do it this weekend, but he got impatient and did it himself. So All I have to do is post the link and hope people will donate. Hugs
Oh, yeah. Also, he needs to get himself a lawyer if this is about what your wrote last week or the week before. Even if it’s not. He’ll have to make some calls, maybe over a few days, but he can get one at no cost to himself to untangle this. Then maybe he should call one of those loudmouthed ones on TV to send some letters out… But seriously on getting a lawyer to untangle the web of his income.
Hi Ali. Thank you so much. I don’t think it will work. See we went through the same thing with Ron’s brother. As soon as he went into the nursing home the home yanked his SSI for themselves leaving him only $30 dollars a month. Ron and Diane had to pay all his bills for a while and I was glad Ron was still working because now we couldn’t have done it without putting it on credit or taking it out of our dwindling savings. But I would welcome any advice you have for him. He is hurting. I can only post his go fund me today, but I can’t help him much with the need he has for that device. He has a friend of almost 20 years he has connected with over games and he gets great comfort from that. This device will help him do that. But I will talk to you again after I post it. Because I have no idea how this will work. Hugs
I personally don’t have advice; I can’t practice law because I’m not a lawyer, but in my working days, I saw things. It’s why I always say, people get a lawyer. Best case scenario they make 1 phone call, and suddenly everything is just fine as it should be. You’d be amazed how often that happens.
There are law firms all over that have to do a certain amount of pro bono representation. Then, there are also organizations who exist specifically to help people who are disabled and low income and have been cheated. He doesn’t have to put up with this. He got his SSI once, did he have a lawyer to get it, because it’s so difficult without one? Maybe that lawyer will help K. find someone to represent him now.
It’s a thing people have to do, whether they like it or not. And it can be done, if a person’s willing to make some phone calls.
Heck-he could call one of those law firms who advertise on TV. The least they’ll do for him is refer him to another lawyer.
He shouldn’t have to eat this.
And finally, I got up an hour later than usual today, so you would’ve had to wait a bit, anyway! And Ollie had an upset tummy over night so I needed to clean up a couple of spots. He seems fine, now.
Hi Ali. I am sorry to hear that. Sometimes if Tupac gets fed food from kind neighbors that do not understand how fragile his system is he starts to vomit at night. He will get off the bed, go to his boxes, stand beside them and vomit. But as he is old and not good on his feet he often goes toward the walls to lean against leaving trails down the walls. Or if he can’t reach his box in time he goes into our shower and vomits there which is easier to clean up there.
But our issue is not his tummy so much as his butt. Because he can’t control his backside and we give him fiber to keep his stool soft little poops slip out of him and he has no clue. But Ron adores him and I admit it is nice when I get up at 4:30 / 5 AM he comes to my office and lies on the towel I have on my desk for him. He will lay there as I work for hours. I pretend to be offended by it but no one believes me. We for decades rescued older cats some needing medical help because no one cared about them at their age and no one wanted to deal with them. We gave them the best older years we could of their life. And I held each one in my arms in the vet’s office when their time came to walk the rainbow bridge. Hopefully when I walk it, they will be there to welcome me home again. Best wishes to Ollie. Hugs
Yeah, what would we do without our furkids!
Sometimes Ollie gets some little something that upsets his digestion. It was only one spot, and other than being embarrassed that he’d made a mess, he was fine and still is today. Mommy just needs to be extra careful to keep an eye on what he eats, and sometimes I may overdo treats. I was mainly explaining why I was late getting on yesterday.

Well, that worked out! In a way.
It’s a shame to live in such a rich country yet to have to crowdfund our own healthcare.
