Trump’s DHS pushes for new ‘emergency’ demolitions of D.C. historic buildings

I still do not see the emergency need here as none is really stated.  What is the security issue?  I think the thing is tRump’s admin wants to erase anything that as any other administration’s branding on it.   The object is to make DC tRump’s city bearing only his branding and everything named after him.  He sees other tyrant authoritarian dictator has a city named after them, he wants DC to be his, the White House to be a palace like other royalty has so he must have, and his rule to be unquestioned.  Hugs.

The Trump administration is extending its wrecking ball to yet more historic buildings in Washington as the president’s pet projects — including his golden ballroom and triumphal arch — press forward.

    1. Hi Ali. I can’t see how this is a national security matter? Do you? I think it is that tRump wants his own city, with his stamp and brand, that has the people / look he likes. He saw how other wealthy dictators / tyrants live in fancy places and have their names on everything and he wants that also. Plus I think that Stephen Miller and Russell Vought are keeping tRump distracted with busy work while keeping him in a bubble so he has not a clue what they are doing to the people and country. I just listened to him give a speech that is total fiction on the economy and how popular he is. Someone is feeding him those numbers and as he only watches Fox anger channel he sees only what his handlers want him to see. Hugs

  1. Hell, I had a whole comment made about this, answering Scottie’s question, and redirecting to my comment. I pushed “Comment,” and WP came back with “could not be published.” sigh. It wasn’t too many words, and it wasn’t anything that oughtn’t be said.

The national security issue is their concern with the inability to change aspects of certain historical buildings in order to assure that one or a few more gunmen can’t go in and start spraying. They shouldn’t use our historical buildings if they need to be that secure. Destroying historical architecture is what, most recently, the Taliban did in Afghanistan after the Northern Alliance was conquered. The purpose, as it has been through history, is to destroy the morale of conquered populace.

As to the overruns I commented on, I’d like to see the new ballroom and these demos/renovations run up the flagpole alongside of the Reserve building’s costs, and see how Republicans are spending our money.

It’s not as short and sweet as my previous, but it covers everything.

    1. Hi Ali. Thank you for both this and the other comment you were referring to. I agree with the idea of looking out for firearms angles … but what about the fact that Israeli Mossad went all around DC putting up cell phone capture devices when it became open knowledge that tRump refused to give up his personal phone for a government secured one! How many other countries did that we will never know but the fact is our “Allie” Israel was doing this …???

As you write about the destruction of the US buildings I do remember the Buddhist statues that the Taliban destroyed that couldn’t be replaces. All for a misguided religious reason. Also it hides the rest you said about republicans misspending.

Ali not matter how long or short your comments I love them all. I might understand or misunderstand, but we talk it out and I learn stuff. I hope you are well. I started making supper and Ron came in and said I need to go sit down and rest he would make supper. OK that was new but I like it. I am exhausted again at 6:20 pm! I need to take my pain medication but if I do, I will soon go right out. Hugs
