Trump Defends Racist Obama Meme & MAGA Rages Over Bad Bunny’s Spanish Halftime Show | The Daily Show

I like at the end where he calls maga a weak pity party and mocks them for their fake outrage and hurt feelings when others do what they themselves celebrate doing.  The fact that tRump and right wing media claim that no one understood any of the words because they were in spanish is clearly false.  This is what droveStephen Miller totally racist and insane in his teen years in school that people were talking in a language he couldn’t understand.  He made no effort to learn it instead screamed at others to accommodate him by speaking english he so he could understand.

I often tell of the time I was in Germany.  I tried hard to learn German but I just couldn’t for some reason.  But I did try.  I would be out with friends and they would go into a shop and try to order only to come out angry the Germans wouldn’t speak english to them.  I would go into the same shops and in broken slaughtered German with lots of pointing try to order and the Germans there would switch to english for me.  I asked a German friend why that was.  He laughed and explained that it was because the other guys had an attitude that Germans had to speak english to them in Germany.  It was disrespectful to the country and to the people. My friend told me that when I attempted to talk to German people I attempted to use their language even though I did it really badly and they found that respectful.  They liked it that I tried.  I don’t see why it is so bad to speak spanish.  Heck I wish I could. I admire people who can speak different languages.  But tRump and the maga want a white ethnostate that is just everything they like and nothing else.  Hugs

    1. Hi Judy. I loved my years in Germany and almost stayed. I had many German friends and when out with them they would use english but if we were in a restaurant I would ask them how to pronounce what I wanted to order. They would repeat it for me several times until I could say it decently. Then the wait staff would come and ask for our order and I would order in German. I felt good and everyone was happy. I am sure I messed up a few times and my friends explained it better to the staff in German so as not to embarrass me. So many wonderful people. I remember my first few weeks I was exploring and walking down a small side street just looking at the fantastic buildings. This was in the early 1980s. An old German could was walking towards me. I stepped into the street for them when they did the same. I was 19 and mortified and quickly waved them back on the sidewalk. Then nodded and thanked me. I was telling German friends this story and mentioned in the US the older couple wouldn’t have stepped aside for a “kid”. He asked how old I thought they were. Very old. He then said they knew you were American military and they remembered what your country did for the people in the camps. I was stunned. They had much longer memories than people in the US do. Hugs

  1. As Ten Bears often points out, maga doesn’t speak actual English, either. It’s very difficult to decipher some of their accents, and sometimes they make words up. So, there’s that.

      1. Well, he doesn’t mean that. He means whatever it is they do to distort their enunciation, hoping to sound like Southerners. Mostly. Also they make up words. Dysphasia and aphasia are things people can’t help.

        1. Hi Ali. I understand but I am still mortified when it happens, especially if I am in a crowded public space or facing someone behind a desk. I struggle to say it and can’t so have to hunt in my head for a different word that might mean something similar. Even with Ron who understands I hate sounding like a moron trying to pronounce and get the word out. I can see it, know it in my mind, but my tongue just won’t put it out. I hate it but I now have to live with it because it took five months to get a heart doctor to lower my heart rate. That is why I hate people who claim that wait time would be longer in countries with universal healthcare which is not true anyway. I waited nine months when I changed primary care physicians. Hugs

          1. Yeah. Exactly. I get what you’re saying.

But there’s a difference between that, and what so many maga and maga-adjacent do to their enunciation on purpose to sound “country”.
