Bauder’s group, Canada Unity, contends that vaccine mandates and passports are illegal under Canada’s constitution, the Nuremberg Code and a host of other international conventions.
Another group, Action4Canada, launched legal challenges to mask and vaccine mandates. In one 400-page court filing, they allege that the “false pronouncement of a Covid-19 ‘pandemic’” was carried out, at least in part, by Bill Gates and a “New World (Economic) Order” to facilitate the injection of 5G-enabled microchips into the population. Both groups are listed as “participating groups” on the Canada Unity website, and sent vehicles and personnel to join the convoy.

Rentier capitalism is a term currently used to describe the belief in economic practices of monopolization of access to any kind of property (physical, financial, intellectual, etc.) and gaining significant amounts of profit without contribution to society.
It’s ironic that Fox is so outraged by the media properly passing on the Durham probe fabrications, when they are so flagrantly ignoring the real story about Trump’s financial corruption. It’s just more proof that Fox has never been a news network. And it’s why their audience is so pitifully uninformed, or even worse, misinformed, about everything from the Biden economic boom, to the COVID pandemic, to the 2020 presidential election, and so much more. Fox News has been completely distorting the Durham Nothingburger to falsely claim that it proves that Hillary Clinton was spying on Trump. There is no truth to that whatsoever, and the filing doesn’t even make that allegation. But that didn’t stop Sean Hannity from fictionalizing the story.
The Sussman indictment – and I’ve been saying this since it dropped because of a lack of materiality and unclear charges – will probably be dismissed before it even goes to trial. I describe this latest Durham stunt as “Kash Patel garbage in, Kash Patel garbage out, and then Trump threatening to kill people as a result. It’s that simple.”
No one from Clinton’s campaign ordered spying or hacking. No spying or hacking took place. A contractor that was tasked with analyzing DNS queries on government networks. They brought in a lawyer who works on cybersecurity matters to bring what they thought was suspicious activity to the attention of national security agencies. One of Bill Barr’s hacks claims the lawyer didn’t tell the FBI he had also done work for the DNC. The lawyer has proof that the FBI was well aware that he had worked for the DNC.
Minnesota Freedom Fund. The Minnesota Freedom Fund is working to end the discriminatory, coercive, and oppressive policy of cash bail, which criminalizes poverty and takes a disproportionate toll on communities of color. It is a well known problem that poor people spend more time in prison than those with money to pay bail. Justice shouldn’t depend on your income. Bail was used to insure a person will show up in court. But it has become a punitive measure used to harm people. Bail was not to be used as punishment but it is being used that way. Remember that a person is considered innocent until judged at trial.

Gun manufactures love the cries that crime is worse, that life is super dangerous, that someone anyone doesn’t matter who is coming to take your guns. It drives sales. Fear is what they use as advertisements. I have to wonder at people willing to lose their job to avoid getting a vaccine while fighting to keep kids from life saving masks, but wont allow any restrictions on guns to save the lives of school children. This is the craziness that the right promotes about public health mandates. Creating rules that keep the public safe is cause to kill some one. WTF
Protesting is legal, and in a way patriotic… no matter what the subject, it is an expression of living in a free country.
Breaking the law while protesting… that’s another thing. You CAN make that choice, it is called “civil disobedience”. But these people (and Lisa) don’t seem to comprehend that you are still breaking the law, and that there will be consequences.
There are groups who have been protesting for decades (from environmentalists, to pro-life movements… all political stripes). And these experienced protesters understand that you need to work with the system. You have to play the game. You set up a blockade, and you wait to be arrested, testing how long you can hold out, hoping you can get some media attention, and cause some grief to your opponent. These “truckers” on the other hand are actually saying “your laws don’t apply to us”. That’s not protest, that’s anarchy.
The Truckers can protest on the side of the road, in the park almost anywhere they would like. the TRUCK is a tool that is regulated by the state and as such it has NO FREE SPEECH RIGHTS.
But it’s not about COVID, vaccination, or mandates. As part of an interview with Pat King, leader of the “Freedom Convoy”, he tells us exactly why they’re “protesting”:

The Democrats face an uphill battle to get their message out. Also historically the party in power loses seats in the midterms. But the Republicans are facing their own serious voter issues with only the shrinking base fully committed to the current message out of the Republican party. For example tRump is very popular with the base but not popular with the average Republican and swing voter. The Jan 6th denials are very popular with the base, but despised by the main stream Republicans and swing voters. If the Republicans run on the emotion of blocking every thing the Democrats try to do to help the public while pushing tRump with his big lie and trying to sell the fantasy that Jan 6th was legitimate political discourse the Democrats will keep control of congress and may even gain seats.
What would you have him do, start world war three? Nuke Moscow and end civilization as we know it. Putin wants to lie and and invade with little cost to himself. By Biden keeping it in the news, marshaling the NATO countries, by getting other countries to agree to crippling sanctions he is doing as much as he can to deter Putin. Plus the US has increased our arms sales to Ukraine and encouraged other countries to do so. Anything else is just counter effective and would prove Putin’s point that he needs to take other countries to keep his safe.
There was a cartoon about cannibals in this space. While I thought the punchline was funny it was pointed out to me that the way the individuals in the cartoon were drawn, it was very stereotypical and is a trope used by racist bigots. I have decided because of that to remove the cartoon and explain that my intent was not to cause harm. The punchline would have worked without the characters being drawn that way and it is a shame the cartoonist went in that direction. The US government should be able to do more than one thing at a time. So the government can address gun violence at home and address Russian aggression abroad. The fact is every time the Democrats try to do common sense gun regulations the Republican party at the request of the NRA has stopped them. Not even closing gun show loop holes for back ground checks could get past the Republicans that were blocking it. Now that the NRA has self destructed I wonder if there can be sensible gun rules / regulations enacted.

The Durham report doesn’t say that. The right needs to shift the focus away from Trump’s many scandals. Trump is in trouble for tax fraud, tried to get people to overthrow the government, he tried to replace real electors with phony electors, he wants Hillary Clinton killed, and has connections to Russia. Smart people know the right is just generating a smoke screen and are ignoring the phony scandals involving Hillary Clinton. President Biden will be running for re-election in 2024 so Hillary Clinton won’t be running.
The right wing has become energized and are trying to take over the school boards all across the country. Then they will remove anything they dislike, stop the kids from learning crititcal thinking, and install indoctrination propaganda.

All this shows is that people want to get things done. The principle sin of the Board Members who were kicked out was that instead of making sure the children of SF were back in school during a pandemic, they were more interested in changing the names of schools. Republicans should take note. If your only policy is to make liberals cry, sooner or later your voters are going to wonder when you’re going to get things taken care of.

A new Johns Hopkins University study finds lockdowns only prevented 0.2% of Covid-19 deaths and were “not an effective way of reducing mortality rates during a pandemic.” I can only wonder about the reason for lockdowns and those people who advocate for these measures. Especially because of the negative impact on the young.

The working paper did not include new data, and serious questions have already been raised about its methodology.”
And one of the authors is a fellow at the libertarian Cato Institute, known to be critical of all things governmental.

What is really funny is the idea that tRump would know what was a server and what was a copier. This goes back to the filing by Durham which was nothing new but is an attempt to investigate the investigators thing to find something to negate the findings in the Russia / tRump probe.
This is pure bull. The truckers were allowed to interrupt the economy and society for two weeks and some. I am all for a protest, but not for shutting down peoples lives and stopping normal activities of a large portion of the city for weeks, disrupting the home life and families of people not even involved.
The GOP’s Durham ‘bombshell’ is a bust
Even though Durham never directly said in his motion that Clinton coordinated a campaign to “spy” on Trump through Joffe, The New York Times noted, conservatives have been quick to draw such conclusions, accusing liberal media of being biased for not covering the alleged scandal.
Fox News on Tuesday also noted the amount of media coverage the alleged scandal had thus far received by ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, CNN, and MSNBC. According to Fox News Research, all of these channels have respectively dedicated “0 minutes.”
The researchers were not “spying” on the Trump campaign in 2016 but were instead working at the request of federal officials to investigate Russian malware attacks that had targeted the U.S. government and the White House, said Jody Westby, a lawyer for one of the research scientists involved, David Dagon of the Georgia Institute of Technology.
The U.S. was on high alert at the time after the hacking of Democratic National Committee emails by Russian operatives. The data at issue was from the time Obama, not Trump, was in the White House, according to Westby.
“They were simply doing … research of Russian attacks against U.S. entities, including the federal government,” Westby said, adding, “The motion is unfortunate because it offers a lot of confusing information that is not factually accurate.”
The statistics show that the returns on investments by people in congress is much higher than the general public’s returns. Now that implies that congress uses their knowledge and regulatory ability to create personal gain. It sure seems that for a lot of elected officials, they see the office as a golden lotto ticket to personal wealth. The days of public service and helping the people seems to be long gone. Their should be some sacrifice to serving the public, it should be for the country, not for enriching oneself or personal power.
So anyone who wins an elected office should have to place all stocks in blind trusts managed by a reputable company and no office holder may direct the purchase of sale of any individual stock. That goes for family members in the same household. I would also deal with the legalized bribe system called lobbying. The system has become a way for the well off to bribe the office holders and shut out the voices of the public.
The only complaint I have about the cartoon is it is bias and misleading. It makes it seem as if only one party is doing the stock trading. In fact both parties are and both parties have people ignoring the legalities of filing required forms about their finances and stocks. The majority of elected offices have been filled by wealthy people seeking to increase their own wealth at the expense of the people and the needs of the country.
Another cartoon with the smorgasbord of old failed hits. Just keep throwing everything at the wall hoping something will stick. The misleading right wing media is having to make things up now that the President is an adult who doesn’t have temper tantrums while openly breaking the laws and insulting everyone he can.
The idea that Biden is conducting his anti-war effort in the open is stupid. He and his team have to work behind the scenes out of the view of cameras. To expect some big displays is not reasonable. But then the right never is.
Just a reminder: Starbucks could give every one of its 383,000 employees a $5000 bonus check and still keep $1,893,500,000 in net income this year. That’s without raising prices. And yet they’re going to raise prices and are actively firing people for wanting to unionize.
It’s time we put our money in heath care, child care, and prenatal care instead of feeding an endless war machine.

Seems to me the government of Canada is winning this situation not the truckers. The government has blocked the truckers funding, the government cleared the bridge, the government has the authority now to yank the commercial licenses, and the authority to seize the trucks.
Because the report on tRump clogging toilets and ripping up papers is collaborated. The Durham fantasy about Hillary is just a conspiracy rehash of spin attempts to validate tRump’s claim that the Mueller investigation was illegal. Durham did not file charges in his new filing, there was no new information. He is trying to charge the guy who provided the information to the FBI with lying to the FBI because he did not tell the FBI he once worked for Hillary and the FBI did not ask. What we are witnessing is PRICE GOUGING, NOT INFLATION.
INFLATION is when business owners raise prices commensurate with higher costs to make ends meet.
But when corporations are reporting record all-time profits, raising prices is NOT INFLATION, it is PRICE GOUGING to capitalize on supply chain disruptions caused by a national emergency.
McDonald’s profits soared 59% in 2021, to $7.5 billion.
ExxonMobil reported a $8.9 billion in profits in the FOURTH QUARTER ALONE, while it was jacking up prices to new records.
Numerous other companies jacked up prices while raking in record profits in 2021.
Donald Trump crashed the economy, destroyed the supply chain, blew up international trade relations by imposing ridiculous tariffs that hurt farmers and consumers, mishandled a pandemic that exploded into a worldwide economic crisis and now as Biden is putting people back, restoring consumer confidence, which stimulates demand, but the devastation wrought by Trump on the supply chain is taking longer to undo, especially as anti-science right wing nut jobs continue to undermine recovery from the Trump plague.
If there were a hurricane, tornado, flood or wildfire and vendors were charging $20 for a bottle of water, they would be arrested. We need to see some of the corporate heads who have tripled their profits on the backs of consumers being frog-marched into the Big House.
Truth is not important. Smear, innuendo, and outright lies are necessary to outrage and disinform the public. This is the way to absolute power.

There was no explanation for it. Especially when the talk was Russia was helping tRump. Their was an attempt to hide the server, to hide the data on it, to hide the connection, and that server only talked to that bank. Very suspicious. So The right deflects by saying the real crime that should be investigated was the person who delivered it had once worked for Hillary.
How about both when the deserve it? This is not jousting wind mills. This is calling out that acts of aggression and violating human rights.
So what should the US have done to truckers / people on the Canadian side of the border? But if you wanted the right to join in the fun, you had the responsibility to follow public health rules.
This cartoon really pissed me off. That is an asinine cartoon that insults child abuse victims. Wearing a mask is not child abuse any more than wearing shoes are. It causes no harm and protects the wearer. Most children are not bothered by masks, the only ones with a problem with them are because the parents have made such a stink over it. Masks are proven to prevent the spread of Covid. Period. They saved lives, of children and adults. Grow up.

Police funding is actually UP across the country, and that “Defund the Police” meme is about as valid as the “Critical Race Theory” and “Sharia Law” boogymen that right wing propagandists use to keep their gullible “base” riled up.

No one was calling for Rogan to be canceled or taken off the air. The issue was his misinformation about a public health crisis and misinformation on treatments for the public health crisis. Even he admitted he was careless with the truth and should have done better. The problem is he is promoting his program as a news show reporting facts and not just an opinion show. Now Spotify labels the misinformation and directs people to the factual true information.
And that is not being taught either. It is just another way to prevent real history from being taught. If they can prevent people from learning how bad slavery was then they can prevent any of the real history of holding black people back from being learned and they can keep doing things to oppress POC.
By using state power to censor any truthful teaching about how four centuries (and counting!) of American racism have influenced the socioeconomic status of Black Americans, bans on the teaching of “CRT” implicitly and deliberately “teach” the lie that the glaring disparities persist because Black “individuals” are “inherently inferior.” Those promoting such bans claim to be driven by solicitude for pupils’ feelings; but they are solicitous only about White pupils’ feelings. The effect of their lie on Black pupils’ feelings is devastating by deliberate design.
It’s ironic that Fox is so outraged by the media properly passing on the Durham probe fabrications, when they are so flagrantly ignoring the real story about Trump’s financial corruption. It’s just more proof that Fox has never been a news network. And it’s why their audience is so pitifully uninformed, or even worse, misinformed, about everything from the Biden economic boom, to the COVID pandemic, to the 2020 presidential election, and so much more. They are the “New Ignorati.” And that’s exactly how Fox News wants them.
Fox News has been completely distorting the Durham Nothingburger to falsely claim that it proves that Hillary Clinton was spying on Trump. There is no truth to that whatsoever, and the filing doesn’t even make that allegation. But that didn’t stop Sean Hannity from fictionalizing the story.
The Sussman indictment – and I’ve been saying this since it dropped because of a lack of materiality and unclear charges – will probably be dismissed before it even goes to trial. I describe this latest Durham stunt as “Kash Patel garbage in, Kash Patel garbage out, and then Trump threatening to kill people as a result. It’s that simple.”
