I need the help of people outside of the US. The cartoons from the Cagle site don’t display for people in some countries. I have made several cartoon posts from that site that I tried different ways to display them. I have not gotten feed back on those posts. So I am going to try a short one with different ways. The first copies the address of the cartoon, then the second will open it several times to see if that way it will display. If you have broken links Barry has explained how to fix it or use a VPN, but I would prefer to find a way to post them or simply not post them at all. Hugs

========================================================================
Ok that is enough to test. I know of no other way to post them if the link breaks when it is opened in a country not the US. I really need to know the ratio of those that see these cartoons and those that have broken links. If you are an IT specialist like Barry and can give me a suggestion I would value it. I can’t change the URL on my end, it is what it is both ways I try to post it. But if the links wont display the cartoons it is not worth my spending house posting them. The site does have the best drawn and most current ones. But I spend too many hours making the post as it is to chase after ones that wont show to the readers. Best wishes to everyone and hugs to those that want them.
I posted two cartoon posts using different methods. I have not heard back if that stopped the broken links or not. So I have not included them in this post. If anyone needs the links to those post please let me know. The Cagle site has great cartoons but is useless as a source if people can’t see them. Hugs

From the page one of the bonus I just scheduled. I am trying to see if there is a way I can get the Cagle cartoons to display. The other thing is a few people have said that some of the cartoons don’t display and that the link is broken. Barry in New Zealand is an IT expert who has sent me an email on it. I will post it after this for anyone that can use the method he describes. These cartoons are all from the same site the one that Barry tells me is the one that the links are broken unless he uses a VPN. Cagle.com, and that is sad because those are some of the best ones. I have been posting them in the classic mode. This batch of cartoons will only be from the Cagle site but I will do it on the block editor mode to see if that will solve the problem. Plus I will be posting two versions of each one to see if that makes a difference. I just realized that there may be a way to embed them that automatically does to the URL what Barry suggested after the first two. One thing that would help is if the cartoons don’t display for you leave a comment and let me know the country you are in. Thank you. Best wishes for all and hugs for those that want them.
Hi Scottie. Not sure of this helps, A large number of image links are broken and won’t show unless I use a US hosted VPN, as I have described before. But I have found another way, and that is to slightly modify the URL:
https://i0.wp.com/image.cagle.com/299916/830/becs_robert-f-kennedy-jrs-hobby-.png?ssl=1
is a broken link. Trying to open it directly results in the message “We cannot complete this request, remote data could not be fetched”, but truncating the URL to:
https://i0.wp.com/image.cagle.com/299916/830/becs_robert-f-kennedy-jrs-hobby-.png
and bingo! Just chopping off “?ssl=1” is all it takes to allow the image to display correctly. Likewise, changing:
https://i0.wp.com/image.cagle.com/299938/830/rick-mckee_avoiding-the-state-of-the-world.png?ssl=1
to
https://i0.wp.com/image.cagle.com/299938/830/rick-mckee_avoiding-the-state-of-the-world.png
allows that image to display. All the broken links are the same: All begin with “i0.wp.com/image.cagle.com” and end with “?ssl=1”
Now for the cartoons

Woot!
Let’s Go To Nader’s by Clay Jones
At least we’ll know what we’re getting Read on Substack

This cartoon was drawn for the FXBG Advance.
Back on July 6, I published another cartoon on this same issue. A sketchy developer is asking for Fredericksburg to zone an area for homes, apartments, retail space, and for it all to be anchored by a “specialty” grocery store. The catch is, the city won’t be allowed to know which grocery store it’s getting. And now, they’ve taken a closer step to approving it.
Nader’s is a downtown grocery store in Fredericksburg, and it’s an institution. But over the years, I’ve heard complaints about it being the only grocery store downtown. It’s probably Fredericksburg’s version of a Bodega. A Bohemian friend of mine wrote a song about the place. I think Nader’s name has changed, but it’s always going to be known as Nader’s. It is by the Purina tower and the train station.
Creative note: I came up with this idea while on the train to my convention last Thursday. Because of all the shenanigans happening here, I wasn’t able to finish the cartoon until Friday afternoon. I drew this in the lobby so I could spend more time with my colleagues, and a LOT of them were looking over my shoulder watching me draw this. That would have been intimidating a few years ago, as most of them are better artists than I am, but they’re really the coolest people and are super supportive.
During the awards ceremony Saturday night, the president of the AAEC, Marc Murphy, mentioned that the winner of the Rex Babin Award was drawing (a local cartoon) in the lobby with friends watching. And that’s how I knew I had just won the award. More on this soon. (snip)
