A HuffPost investigation has revealed that two pro-Israel PACs have poured almost $6.5 million into the campaign of Democratic Maryland candidate Glenn Ivey in order to defeat ex-U.S. Rep. Donna Edwards, who has been lightly critical of Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. And the best part? Both candidates have barely addressed the issue while campaigning and have openly admitted that the Israel-Palestine conflict barely comes up in their region, making the donations even more suspicious. I’m now halfway through The 1619 Project. Now I know why they were all freaking out about that book. It lays out in great detail just what was going on in our country between 1619 and now. It’s all so much worse than anything I’d ever heard or read before. No one is “singling out” the founders. They are recording history correctly of everyone alive in the US (and other countries that aided and abetted…often through financing and great profit) for slavery. The founders just happen to be the famous examples.
Having the 20th Century white slave-holder defend his viewpoint is a valuable contribution to the current discourse about the sudden surge of positive feelings about our country’s slave-holding history. It’s Feel Good-Time for white America’s precious tender sensitivities. Tipping our toe into the warm waters of treasonous lies and we like the feel of it.
Founding Fathers – wealthy men who wanted to maximize freedom for themselves while denying freedoms for enslaved people, all white women, and even poor white men who did not own property. The system of government they setup was a selfish system meant to serve themselves.
What made them unique and distinguishable was their hypocrisy. The fact that the same person who eloquently wrote about “unalienable human rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” at the very same time enslaved human beings.
They knew it was wrong then and they still did it. It was wrong to enslave others in their bible but they still did it. They even argued about slavery when making up the constitution and they knew it was wrong and still allowed it.

“The Family Research Council’s multimillion-dollar headquarters sit on G Street in Washington, D.C., just steps from the U.S. Capitol and the White House, a spot ideally situated for its work as a right-wing policy think tank and political pressure group.
From its perch at the heart of the nation’s capital, the FRC has pushed for legislation banning gender-affirming surgery; filed amicus briefs supporting the overturning of Roe v. Wade; and advocated for religious exemptions to civil rights laws. Its longtime head, a former state lawmaker and ordained minister named Tony Perkins, claims credit for pushing the Republican platform rightward over the past two decades.
What is the FRC? Its website sums up the answer to this question in 63 words: “A nonprofit research and educational organization dedicated to articulating and advancing a family-centered philosophy of public life. The republicans of today have no decency or sense of decorum. They don’t live in reality, they make stuff up and lie as well as they breath. Ryan Dark White, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Maryland under the name Jon McGreevey, has been arrested and charged with filing a false report after he allegedly told law enforcement an adult bookstore in Edgewood was forcing a young girl to perform sex acts on men, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office now says the story was made up. “It is shameful that a candidate for public office would make up such a story and use it to further his own political agenda,” said Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey R. Gahler.
In April, a tipster provided information to detectives with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office that a man and a young girl between, 10-12 years old, entered an adult bookstore in the 3000 block of Pulaski Highway and the child was forced to perform sex acts on male customers, police said.
Sheriff Gahler added, “It is even more appalling that another individual, who is running for a law enforcement position, would embrace such an obviously false narrative in an effort to gain political traction – nothing more.” This swipe is apparently aimed at Andy Kuhl, who is running for Baltimore County sheriff as a Republican.
Kuhl told Law&Crime in an email that in his opinion, this was as political smear campaign against White–whom he called McGreevey–ahead of the upcoming primary.
In a statement, he called him a credible informant, told Law&Crime he showed up to the July 7 interview unannounced on White’s behalf, and accused detectives of strange behavior, such as messages about there being good news in the case. He told Law&Crime on the phone that he did not respond to those messages.

A Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Maryland has charged with filing a false report after he allegedly told law enforcement an adult bookstore in Edgewood was trafficking children.

A trans person choosing a name for themselves? Oh, no that can’t be allowed. It would be “confusing”. It goes against someone else’s religious beliefs. I’ve even seen it said that trans people changing their names snarls up the legal system, somehow making it impossible to conduct a complete criminal background check if or when necessary to do so..
I watched the interview in real time. The host kept cutting him off. She did not want him to point out it was a deliberate attempt to sabotage the Biden term and she tried to stop Sanders from talking about how Manchin rakes in big money from donors to deny the public any benefits. Sanders explained how Manchin’s game is to draw everything out then kill it then let it start to repeat his prior actions. draw it out and delay anything getting done. He also explained that Manchin is not serious about cutting inflation just using it as a scare word because plans developed that he kills have all had things to cut inflation. I am not sure if is is all money or if Manchin thinks he should be president or what, but he really wants to take down Biden and the Democrats. I suspect it is because of the attempt to hold his daughter accountable for the horrific increase in price of the EpiPen when it shouldn’t have needed to be increased at all. Hugs

I don’t think it takes a lot of deep thinking to see that Bernie is right about Manchin. He claims to be working towards a compromise but never gets there. We need a ton of blue votes in the midterms to override him, and then kick him to the curb.
And if after last summer (when he knew Manchin’s bottom line)…Schumer is either clueless or impotent as majority leader. Or both. Same damn pattern …every time.
