Trump says there’s ‘no price tag’ for his mass deportation plan

Why is it only the southern border that the right is concerned with?  Most undocumented people in the US are here on visas and flew into the country legally.  They just never then went home when the visa ended.  Why is it only some country the right whines about immigrating to the US?  Racism and bigotry is the answer.  Think about it.  The right is terrified that white people will be replaced by non-white people.  Elon Musk is always claiming white people need to have more babies.  But only white people.  Also the right fails to understand that Puerto Rico is part of the US and the Puerto Ricoian people are US citizens.   But remember how tRump wanted to sell the island because it was full of … those brown people.   Hugs

In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Trump talked about his campaign promise to carry out the largest mass deportation of immigrants in U.S. history.

President-elect Donald Trump told NBC News on Thursday that one of his first priorities upon taking office in January would be to make the border “strong and powerful.” When questioned about his campaign promise of mass deportations, Trump said his administration would have “no choice” but to carry them out.

Trump said he considers his sweeping victory over Vice President Kamala Harris a mandate “to bring common sense” to the country.

“We obviously have to make the border strong and powerful and, and we have to — at the same time, we want people to come into our country,” he said. “And you know, I’m not somebody that says, ‘No, you can’t come in.’ We want people to come in.”

As a candidate, Trump had repeatedly vowed to carry out the “largest deportation effort in American history.” Asked about the cost of his plan, he said, “It’s not a question of a price tag. It’s not — really, we have no choice. When people have killed and murdered, when drug lords have destroyed countries, and now they’re going to go back to those countries because they’re not staying here. There is no price tag.”

It’s unclear how many undocumented immigrants there are in the U.S., but acting ICE Director Patrick J. Lechleitner told NBC News in July that a mass deportation effort would be a huge logistical and financial challenge. Two former Trump administration officials involved in immigration during his first term told NBC News that the effort would require cooperation among a number of federal agencies, including the Justice Department and the Pentagon.

Trump’s win included record gains among Latino voters, who Democrats had tried to capture by pointing to Trump’s rhetoric on immigrants and a pro-Trump comedian’s racist joke about Puerto Rico.

In Thursday’s phone interview, he partially credited his message on immigration as a reason he won the race, saying, “They want to have borders, and they like people coming in, but they have to come in with love for the country. They have to come in legally.”

Trump also noted the diverse coalition of voters he attracted, pointing to gains he made among Latino voters, young voters, women and Asian American voters from 2020.

“I started to see realignment could happen because the Democrats are not in line with the thinking of the country,” the president-elect said. “You can’t have defund the police, these kind of things. They don’t want to give up and they don’t work, and the people understand that.”

Trump also spoke about his phone calls with Harris and President Joe Biden since the election.

“Very nice calls, very respectful both ways,” Trump said, describing the conversations, adding that Harris “talked about transition, and she said she’d like it to be smooth as can be, which I agree with, of course.”

In her concession speech at Howard University on Wednesday, Harris said she told Trump, “We will help him and his team with their transition and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power.”

Biden, addressing the nation in remarks from the White House on Thursday morning, urged voters to “accept the choice the country made” in re-electing Trump.

Trump also said that he and Biden on the phone agreed to have lunch together “very shortly.”

He also said he’s spoken to “probably” 70 world leaders since Wednesday morning, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which the president-elect described as “a very good talk.”

Trump also said that he spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but didn’t divulge details about that conversation.

He added that he had not yet spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but “I think we’ll speak.”

Over the course of the campaign, Trump promised to end Russia’s war with Ukraine if elected, saying in September that he would negotiate a deal “that’s good for both sides.

I hope these kids using rape culture misogynist language are exposed to some decent people so they don’t grow up to be MAGA.

Going to keep posting about 2024 turnout until I hear a good explanation.

What happened to Roevember?

Every election/special election leading up to the 2024 Presidential election had massive progressive wins.

I have a hard time believing so many Democratic voters checked out on such a consequential election.

One thing I have to process more is how the incompatibilities are being manufactured and manipulated by corporate media, both legacy and digital.

The divide needs bad faith for which I have no use, yet bad faith is the currency of MAGA.

All I heard about was record-setting early voting and voter enthusiasm.

15 million fewer Democratic votes seems very odd. Trump did not grow his base, btw.

Texas hospitals must now ask patients whether they’re in the US legally. Here’s how it works

Texas hospitals must ask patients starting Friday whether they are in the U.S. legally and track the cost of treating people without legal status following an order by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott that expands the state’s clash with the Biden administration over immigration.

Critics fear the change could scare people away from hospitals in Texas, even though patients are not required to answer the questions to receive medical care. The mandate is similar to a policy that debuted last year in Florida, where Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is also a frequent critic of the federal government’s handling of illegal crossings along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Texas hospitals have spent months preparing for the change and have sought to reassure patients that it won’t affect their level of care.

Here’s what to know:

Required to ask, not required to answer

Under the executive order announced by Abbott in August, hospitals must ask patients if they are citizens in the U.S. and whether they are lawfully present in the country.

Patients have the right to withhold the information and hospital workers must tell them their responses will not affect their care, as required by federal law.

Tracking hospital costs and patient data

Hospitals are not required to begin submitting reports to the state until March. An early draft of a spreadsheet made by state health officials to track data does not include fields to submit patient names or personal information.

Providers will fill out a breakdown of visits by inpatient and emergency care patients and document whether they are lawfully present in the country, citizens or not lawfully present in the U.S.

The reports will also add up costs for those covered by Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program, known as CHIP; and the cost for patients without it.

“Texans should not have to shoulder the burden of financially supporting medical care for illegal immigrants,” Abbott said when he announced the policy.

Texas is following Florida’s lead

Florida enacted a similar law last year. Health care advocates contend the law has made immigrants who need of emergency medical care fearful and led to fewer people seeking help, even from facilities not subject to the law.

Florida’s early data is — by the state’s own admission — limited. The data is self-reported. Anyone can decline to answer, an option chosen by nearly 8% of people admitted to the hospital and about 7% of people who went to the emergency room from June to December 2023, according to Florida’s state report. Fewer than 1% of people who went to the emergency room or were admitted to the hospital reported being in the U.S. “illegally.”

Texas hospitals have been preparing

Immigrant and health care advocates have sought to educate the Texas public about their rights. In Florida, groups used text messages, posters and emails to get the word out. But advocates there have said they didn’t see fears subside for about a year.

Health care providers received directives from the state and guidance from the Texas Hospital Association.

“The bottom line for patients is that this doesn’t change hospital care. Texas hospitals continue to be a safe place for needed care,” said Carrie Williams, spokesperson for the hospital association.

Republicans against democracy. They want to rule.

Below is what the tRump campaign is all about, toxic masculinity.   Gang thug 12 yr old boys on the playground standing around insulting other kids pretending to be tough guys.  Is this what you want for president, for congress?  People who feel that everyone different from them should be insulted and belittled?  Hugs

NFL rules forbid political “messages or gestures” during games or on the field. Just ask Colin Kaepernick, who was attacked by Bosa for kneeling during the anthem. The cult is celebrating Bosa and attacking NBC for editing the incident out of their coverage.

8.2 billion people and he is desperate for more … white ones.  Yes that is the truth of it.  First he is so egotistical he thinks his genetics are superior to any others.  Second the fear he has is that brown people will out number white ones and rule the world.   As a member of South Africa’s apartheid system he hates the idea of whites not being firmly and securely ruling over everyone else.  He is a sick man.  Hugs

They are so sure the voter purges are hurting the democrats that they push deeper and deeper cuts to the voter rolls.  Not realizing they are hitting their own people now also.  Hugs

And she seethed at the idea that anyone would question the citizenship of a former federal employee with the “whitest name you could have.”

US Justice Department says Virginia is illegally striking voters off the rolls in new lawsuit

Republicans know their idea are unpopular and people don’t want their polices.  So instead of changing to do the will of the people are they are hired / elected to do, they simply remove voters who won’t vote for them.  Very democratic.  They demand to rule over the people not represent the people’s will.  Hugs.

Across the country, conservatives have challenged the legitimacy of large numbers of voter registrations ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Virginia election officials Friday that accuses the state of striking names from voter rolls in violation of federal election law.

The lawsuit filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria says that an executive order issued in August by Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin requiring daily updates to voter lists to remove ineligible voters violates federal law. The National Voter Registration Act requires a 90-day “quiet period” ahead of elections for the maintenance of voter rolls.

“Congress adopted the National Voter Registration Act’s quiet period restriction to prevent error-prone, eleventh hour efforts that all too often disenfranchise qualified voters,” Assistant U.S. Attorney General Kristen Clarke said in a statement. “The right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy and the Justice Department will continue to ensure that the rights of qualified voters are protected.”

similar lawsuit was filed earlier this week by a coalition of immigrant-rights groups and the League of Women Voters.

In its lawsuit, the Justice Department said the quiet-period provision reduces the risk that errors in maintaining registration lists will disenfranchise eligible voters by ensuring they have enough time to address errors before the election.

On Aug. 7 — 90 days before the Nov. 5 federal election — Youngkin’s order formalized a systemic process to remove people who are “unable to verify that they are citizens” to the state Department of Motor Vehicles from the statewide voter registration list.

Virginia election officials are using data from the Department of Motor Vehicles to determine a voter’s citizenship and eligibility, according to the filing. The lawsuit alleges the DMV data can be inaccurate or outdated, but officials have not been taking additional steps to verify a person’s purported noncitizen status before mailing them a notice of canceling their voter eligibility.

In a statement on Friday, Youngkin said that state officials were properly enforcing state law requiring the removal of noncitizens from voter rolls.

“Virginians — and Americans — will see this for exactly what it is: a desperate attempt to attack the legitimacy of the elections in the Commonwealth, the very crucible of American Democracy,” Youngkin said of the Justice Department’s lawsuit.

“With the support of our Attorney General, we will defend these commonsense steps, that we are legally required to take, with every resource available to us. Virginia’s election will be secure and fair, and I will not stand idly by as this politically motivated action tries to interfere in our elections, period,” Youngkin said.

Across the country, conservatives have challenged the legitimacy of large numbers of voter registrations ahead of the Nov. 5 election. The Republican National Committee, newly reconstituted under Trump, has also been involved in efforts to challenge voter rolls before the November election.

$1.4M For DeSantis’s Migrant Flights “Unaccounted For” – JMG

Did we just catch him with a state funds kick back?   We know he is dirty and willing to do what ever he has to win the big prize, but is the crimes going to be this easy to catch?   Next is to try to hold him accountable, as he has set up a kingdom here in Florida that he can order to block and defend him.    Hugs

The Miami Herald reports:

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration has so far paid more than $1.5 million to a politically connected contractor for a program to fly migrants from Texas to northeastern states — but the private jets chartered by the contractor cost only a fraction of that sum.

Newly released public records show the contractor, Destin, Florida-based Vertol Systems Company, was quoted a price of roughly $153,000 for two charter plane trips from San Antonio to the Massachusetts island of Martha’s Vineyard. That leaves about $1.4 million in Florida taxpayer funds unaccounted for.

Vertol has connections at the top of the DeSantis administration. The high-ranking DeSantis official who supervised the migrant flight program, public-safety czar Larry Keefe, handled Vertol’s legal work for years. He also served as President Donald Trump’s U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

Somebody had pay to get the FOX camera crew there to record the migrants’ arrival. Also, I think there was a videographer on board not to mention the mysterious coyote (recruiter) who seems to have disappeared.

They also had to pay a few hundred dollars to the “travel agents” who recruited the passengers for the flights.

So it’s really only $1,399,500 that’s missing.

Since sales tax is 80% of Floridumb’s revenue stream, it does rely on a huge tourist trade to make up for a lack of state income tax. So it’s not just the idiotic voters.

No big deal, he’ll just write an executive order to criminalize woke journalists who ask questions about how Florida government spends money. Florida voters will love his display of dominance.
