Yep. Trump supporting Trump voters believe their guy. They believe him when he said he won’t touch Social Security, but will secure it from supporting immigrants, they believe him when he says he’ll deport only currently undocumented immigrants; they also believe him when he says the Dems will force everyone into giving up their cars and only driving 1 EV per family, and be forced to give up some of their guns, and yada, yada, yada.
Interesting how our side worries that we’ll be deported, arrested and executed, or otherwise killed by their side Because Trump Has Spoken Those Words, but their side is afraid of being somehow forced to drive an EV, which has never even been suggested, much less presented as a policy.

Hi Ali. Very true. As I have said yesterday in every blog I was on. The right has a megaphone directly into the world of the right that blasts all sorts of lies, nonsense, and misinformation while demanding the viewers only trust that right wing media. The left has nothing like it. The last time we had something to compete on that level was the 1980s when Larry King had a left wing progressive radio show to compete with Rush Limbaugh.
People are not watching the broadcast networks nightly news. They are getting their information from Facebook and other social media that we know is full of misinformation and lies pushed by people paid by both wealthy people in the US and foreign governments worldwide who hate the US. We need to have sponsored left wing podcasts that can compete with the Tim Pool, Joe Rogan, Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire, and Prager U which are all heavily funded by right wing billionaires.
We need left wing candidates to go on left wing shows and proudly promote populous progressive polices that show lower income / working people what they plan to do to help them. And then not to walk it back scared when the right mocks it as giving money to the poor. People did not know what Biden did that has greatly started to help their lives that now will kick in so tRump will get credit for it. The left never pushed how much Biden did to bring back manufacturing, get infrastructure improved, and fight price gouging. Then never pushed how fighting for lower drug costs stops now, because most people did not see it helping them, as only a couple drugs were on the list. The programs were hampered by corporate democrats Sinema and Manchin to destroy the democrats chances in 2024. But Biden kept pulling back to please the right rather than use the political capital to push harder to get what would have really helped the people. If democrats would stop playing nice and get tough pushing the progressive polices like FDR did they would win in a landslide.
Yet they hire the same political strategist that lose every election by saying go corporate and center. You have to shift to pick up the left leaning republican center. People don’t want center, there is no center. There is the right / hard right, and the left / hard left. The republicans play to their base, democrats need to start doing that also. tRump hit hard only pleasing his base, Harris tried to please everyone. Guess which one won? Hugs

Scottie, I’m sorry, but I saw Dems out all over the place telling people these things. Even while Pres. Biden was running, he was always telling Republicans, who were taking credit for Biden’s work, they can thank him later if they get re-elected. Dems did their work, and did it well. This isn’t Dems’s fault. This is the people who voted for Biden over Trump in 2020, who did not vote for a woman in 2024. The numbers show that. Dems did not fail.
The only other thing that worked against us was the immigration issue; he got to people who are afraid, and made them more afraid. Also they didn’t believe he’d do the terrible things he said; they think he’ll stay within law and that they’ll be safe. At this point, we can only hope that works out for them, and organize to protect everyone who stands at risk after Jan.21.
But this was not “the Democrats’s” fault. This is a we the people flaw.

Hi Ali. What you say is true and not complete. I did not say the dems failed. There were somewhere near 155 million plus votes cast. However even though Harris got nearly as many or in many cases more than Biden did, tRump doubled or tripled his votes in those same states according to Steve Kornacki. Every interview with people after they voted report showed the majority of voters were totally misinformed or clueless about issues.
Read what I wrote again. The majority of voters who voted for tRump believed right wing propaganda promoted on social media and in right wing media. The right has a megaphone into the public and they hammer their bumper sticker slogans constantly. I watch podcasts all day. I watch Same Seder’s The Majority Report which is maybe the biggest left wing media show. While on Tim Pool’s show, Pool made it a point to point out his far larger viewing numbers and his millions of dollars in income per video compared to Sam’s. And Sam said they make about $100,000 a video. As best as I could tell because they went back and forth from monthly to per episode. Joe Rogan gets between 20 million and 40 million a year from Spotify, and his show promoted furry kids using litter boxes in classrooms. These guys echo right wing talking points and amplify them. Remember the misogynist Steven Crowder that turned down 50 million for 4 years from the Daily Wire? He hammers right wing talking points. These guys target young men in their 20’s and 30s. They are after young voters or uninformed maga voters who believe everything they say.
tRump went on every right wing podcast and sat there getting talked up and having softball questions. I watched some. One guy decked out a Cybertruck with a trump wrap and had a huge production for tRump. tRump was always on Fox entertainment opinions shows doing the same. Harris only had about 110 days, but she did not do very many podcasts and none that I listen to via phone nor watch on video. The biggest she did was Charlamagne tha God. The majority of the public never hear her message. We did, you, me and our community because are high information voters. We are informed because we have the time to be. But the majority of voters don’t. They work several jobs or have families they have to take care of. They don’t have time to do more than scan Facebook or other social media.
My point is if we want the left to win elections, then people have to know what the left is going to do for them and what the left did for them. Even this morning driving to my doctor’s appointment I was listening to Pod Save America. One of the Tommy’s pointed out that when asked what tRump stood for the people repeated immigration, economy, crime, tariffs, taking back the government from the deep state, and lastly helping the people. When asked the same question for Harris, people said Democracy and women’s rights. See the problem I am talking about. Harris had a much larger message but it never got to the people who needed to hear it.
You said that Biden used to tell Republicans that took credit for stuff he got passed that they voted against that they could thank him. I have seen a few of those videos … but tell me where were they played. Mainstream media or those that are corporate media. The majority of people don’t see those, don’t watch them. Have you never seen the videos of interviews with people at a tRump rally? Totally clueless just glad to belong to a powerful cult.
The mainstream / corporate media are losing views and clicks to social media. Why do you think corporate media bosses wanted tRump to win so badly? He was great for their business the first term he had. He drove the news and everything he said became gold for the clicks and views. But after tRump during Biden’s term the viewership of mainstream media has tanks, newspapers sales are in the trash bins. Hugs

I should have put this at the beginning: I respectfully but heartily disagree. I don’t think you’re wrong, exactly, but I disagree that the Dems tried to play to the right. They only went so far with that, and as far left as I am, I was comfortable with it. People as far left as I am are a tiny minority; most people are far more conservative than I am. So I have no expectations of having my vote courted by being told we will get a UBI, a UHS, safe housing for all, a smaller military with a smaller footprint, and so on and so forth. People who want to be elected can’t play to that; it’s up to me as a citizen to move them closer to the perfection I wish for. The Dems did fine this time, but not enough people will vote for a woman, plain and simple. That she is a woman of color only underlined it.

Hi Ali. It is OK for us to disagree. And we always respect each other. Ali if I did not respect you I wouldn’t have offered you to be an author on my blog. I do value what you say. But often what happens is we like so much of the US live in different environments. The sites you visit are different from ones I do. The podcasts I listen to all day even when driving are far different from what you might listen to or watch. And what media we consume colors our perceptions. Ron watches different stuff than I do. A lot of times we have to share what we learned with each other. Please, Please, Please never fear or hold back on what you want to say or believe. Your voice is welcome and important here. If it gets to the point we will just have to agree to disagree on something, right?
Now to what you wrote.
You state that the dems did not try to play to the right? OK the border bill was mainly written by republicans and even Lynsey Graham said that the republicans wouldn’t get a more far right bill if they had to deal with a new democratic administration. Harris endorsed it. The party moved to accept the false idea that immigrants cause crime, disease, and cause housing shortages. The reality is the facts show that immigrants both documents and undocumented increase the economy and help the country greatly including revitalizing failing towns they are gathered / welcomed in. Harris campaigned with Liz Cheney instead of with popular AOC, Sanders, or Warren who all win their elections with large margins. There was no talk of protecting minorities or the LGBTQ+. Ask yourself where are all the progressive things Biden ran on such as the child tax credit, the high speed broadband internet to every home, the raising of the minimum wage, where was the talk of corporate money in politics, where was the of free child care, preschool for everyone, where was the talk of even how Biden was trying to forgive student loans but republicans greed was stopping it, where was the talk of prison reform, or even legalizing recreational cannabis? None of that. She ran only on abortion which was important, and how bad tRump was. But the popular message of the left from years before was not talked about or championed? So yes she ran a campaign designed to attract the republican voters, the same campaign the same strategist that Clinton had advised her to run. Those same strategists that keep saying run to the right, run to the mythical center are still sucking up big democratic money yet their message fails every time. Even James Carville now admits he was wrong about that approach for the left. Hugs
