Hi Ali. Yes and it is even more so when you understand tRump. Ron worked for him for years at Mar-a-largo as the nighttime butler and supervisor. No matter who wrong tRump was no one was allowed to tell him. He would make expensive decisions only to when it was done to change his mind or lose his temper and damage stuff. Why? Because he was wealthy enough to not care if he spent a million or so on something only to have to redo it. This is the stable genius who bankrupted a budget airline he bought because he demanded everything be gold and top of the line … for a budget airline. They couldn’t recoup the costs so into bankruptcy it went. But no one could tell him he was wrong.
So now he has it in his head that he can own Canada and Greenland simply by telling them he wants it. He thinks they will treat him like his employees or the cabinet members who know to praise him before each meeting. Other countries are not his employees. He can’t see that. He was raging when Canada and Mexico put return tariffs on us. How dare they not just give in. Plus they put their own on. So as the stock market is tanking he has to make a choice. Either he finds a way to say he was correct and remove the tariffs hoping the other countries will. Or he will have to show he is the biggest bully in the school yard and double down increasing them.
Right now he is buying time by saying I will give them a month to give in. But those countries are going ahead with their own tariffs. The other NATO countries have decided the US won’t be there and the Sec of Defense pulled out of all NATO exercises, so they are setting up their own defense organization. The European Union has decided to move forward with without the US and they have promised crushing tariffs if the US doesn’t back down. tRump has managed to turn the majority of the world against the US … except the Russians along with North Korea. I am so depressed today. Hugs
