  1. I want to delete that. I’m not trying to be hurtful, and we all know I have little respect for most US media: either they’re rightwing, or they’re on the side of burning everything down to start their utopia,; either way, there is little truth but a lot of inciteful commentary. But, I feel like what I wrote could be hurtful. I never wish to be hurtful. It turns out that I cannot delete comments, not even my own, so instead, I apologize. I should have not commented at all on this one.

    1. Hi Ali. I deleted for you. However I did not find that hurtful, it is true. There is a reason that most media is called corporate media. Their job is not to inform or to give just the news, but to make profit. That is why the coverage of tRump was not as critical or strident as it was of Biden during the 2024 election. Look how the media hammered on Biden’s age and mental ability but never pointed out that tRump is almost the same age and clearly mentally very diminished. But the new merger with CBS being taken over by Skydance is going to make it a lot worse. The deal comes with the mandate of a bias compliance person. tRump has taken over corporate media which is what authoritarians do. Hugs

How long will South Park, whose creators just signed a 50-episode deal with Paramount, last under Trump’s regime? Let’s hope the company's new "bias monitor" finds Trump jokes funny.

      1. I watched that South Park ep this morning; I don’t know how anyone wouldn’t laugh, but I also get there could be some people who’d never admit it because they’re speaking/working for an audience of one particular person who threatens to sue everyone.

        1. Hi Ali. Alison Gill of the Daily Beans which is a morning news podcast that has several sections. The first sections are news and then she does a “good trouble” section where she outlines legal ways to cause trouble for the administration and their supporters, she sometimes has a guest interview followed by the last segment called the good news where people send her photos and stories of positive fun things in their life. Her good trouble this morning talked about using the free week offered by Paramount + to sign up and watch the South Park episode and then cancel before the week ends so they can’t charge you. In the reason for cancelling she recommended mentioning the capitulating to tRump along with the cancelling of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. But I am not going to do that. There is the Star Trek new show Strange Worlds I would love to see but I am too busy right now. But I agree I loved the clips I have seen. Hugs

          1. I wondered if you had Paramount, too. I took it up in, I think February? There was an intro for a year of Para+ with Showtime; a year for less than my monthly cable. I subscribed, and dropped the cable to lifeline because we don’t get local channels without cable where I live. But it’s been very good to have that, I don’t use it as much as I thought I would, but I think that will change as the summer burns on, too. Anyway, I think it needs to be people’s choice how they deal with various things. I really don’t bother others about Amazon, either, just have quietly stopped using it. Even if it means I have to go to effing Walmart more …🙃 . Plus, The Daily Show is on Paramount, too. The YT clips I’ve seen have been most excellent, so I’m going to have to start watching.
We should all have a general Strike, if we want to make some change. But, every day in little ways, we can still do the right things, and that matters.

            1. Hi Ali. Well said. We gave up cable years ago. We got apple boxes that let every TV access all the premium services and things like YouTube. We kept our Netflix, HBO, and YouTube premium along with Amazon Prime subscriptions. Ron also has a once a year Vicki bill of less than $70 dollars. It still was less than we were paying for cable TV when we had it. I watch the broadcast TV Sunday shows and get the rest on YouTube. I love Amazon Prime for the free stuff we can access but also because if there is a movie we like we can buy it from them and have it forever. Ron uses the HBO and Netflix more than I but there are shows on both I do like. Hugs.
