This is simply a push by religious groups to force their church doctrines on the rest of the public. I also they think if kids don’t see representations of LGBTQ+ kids people in media they won’t become LGBTQ+ or accept others who are. They are incorrect. It is about a small group of people trying to force the majority of people to be at like them. These people don’t like letting other people be themselves, they demand the right to run other people’s lives and to manage other people’s kids. As the report says this is pushed hard by Christian nationalists who demand the right to enshrine their church doctrines into civil laws and force their religious views on the entire nation. Hugs
Oh. I thought they meant the movies and subsequent series called “The Librarians.” It’s not about book banning/burning, it’s more a fantasy-time travel series. It’s on Comet these days, actually. I watched it all when it was new, and thoroughly recommend it.
All that said, this is also a piece that should be watched ASAP.

Hi Ali. Sounds like an interesting movie. I have lost all touch with TV shows and movies as I spend all my time watching / listening to news broadcasts. I think it is important to understand how a small very vocal driven group is trying to wipe out all gains by the LGBTQ+ community. They don’t feel it and it clashes with their religous beliefs so rather than live and let others live, they insist on the right to force others to live as they do. I am glad there is push back. But I was reading this morning as I was getting ready that Tony Perkins is so thrilled and proud that they have gotten so many corporations to abandon the LGBTQ+ people. Yet he would howl if anyone targeted his church / religon the same way he is targeting LGBTQ+ people. I will post the link below if you want to read the gloating of a real hater. Hugs

Sometimes you gotta give yourself a break, dude. I think we all understand perfectly about these people in the minority, clawing others hoping to get ahead of them for whatever it is the small group thinks there isn’t enough of for everyone. There is only so much cruelty and masochism to which a person needs to subject themselves, I think. It’s spirit-killing, rather than understanding.

Ha. They can think what they like, and I’m certain it makes them feel just fine to think that.
The only thing the companies have done is stopped blaring that they are in favor of equality. To me, the companies were gay-washing (like greenwashing but with people, if that makes sense.) They do what they need to do for maximum profit. Maybe it’s not out front and proud, but the companies aren’t doing anything but being quiet about their practices while telling this minority they’ve changed their policies. It isn’t what they say, it’s what they do. We aren’t seeing discrimination suits from anyone but white men, still, so there’s that.

(I meant sadist, not masochist, in that previous one. I had an appointment, and as I walked back in the door here at home, I thought, “what did I write?”)🤣

Hi Ali. I understood what you meant and I agree with you that in my condition or how I get sometimes it makes wallowing in all the hate eat at me badly. It really does push me into further depression or upset. It is like what happens when I read about the abuse suffered by others or news reports of abused children. It is triggering and hard to deal with. But Ali I feel pressured to do so because I want others to see the hate, cruelty, and anger against minorities and how we are under attack. It is like what I tell ron when he says he can’t deal with me telling him the news some days I explain that we cannot fight back if we don’t know what the enemy is doing.
I hope you are correct about companies. I stopped buying from Target after they stopped selling Pride and LGBTQ+ merchandise in many stores or greatly shrank the size of the displays. They refused to sell trans supporting stuff. But when they publicly give in it sends a horrific message to the affected community and a positive message to the haters pushing it. It shows the small vocal hater groups they can push more power than they should have by threatening any company that supports groups they hate. When they get companies to stop DEIA for the LGBTQ+ people these white supramcy religous hate groups are going to have them go back to the racist policies of the pre 1960s civil rights movement. That is my fear. These people saw how Russia basically made being LGBTQ+ in public a crime and removed all mention of them in any media. They want that here. White supremacists see that Russia is a mostly white country and they want that here. That is why both hater groups support and love Russia, like tRump Russia hates the same people they hate. Hugs

I get what you’re saying.
But it’s all business, not mores or politics. I bet people can still find bathing suits in Target, if I’m making sense without incriminating Target. As just one example. These days, it’s good to look at what people do. If they’re firing people because they’re not straight, white, cis, and conservative, well. They’re not “washing”, they’re discriminating. But if they take down signs and don’t advertise products they may still sell, they very well could be forestalling a mass shooting. And still getting people what they need to buy.

Hi Ali. As for Target I can only say that I posted how they fired a woman who was terrified by a man who thought she was trans. She was in the bathroom and he banged on the door and shouted threats. When she was sure he was gone she went to a supervisor and told what happened. Target fired the woman. So not really supportive. We will see if the actions of the companies going forward and if once the pressure from government is gone will they return to positive DEIA or not. I am more worried about schools and universities and how fast and willing they were to cave. That is scary. For the first time in decades the LGBTQ+ polls show support is falling. The constant pushing of incorrect and hateful rhetoric from the vocal right-wing Christian bigots with no or little push back is having that effect. We need politicians to be brave and support the LGBTQ+ like they did for gay rights back in the day instead of running from the subject in terror. Be like Graham Plater. He openly endorses the rights and liberties of the LGBTQ+ and even told a scared trans woman he would knock on doors with her gladly. And he did. That is the politician we need. His polls are well over 60 points over Janet Mills who is hiding from the issue. Hugs
