Just How Far?

Hello All. I have not had a lot to say for a while, but there are some things that just can’t be unseen, some events that just can’t be ignored any longer. I’ve asked before, any who would support him, Just what will it take? Just how far can he go before it’s too far?
Please forgive me for reposting such a vulgar picture, but I think it gives credence to what follows. Sorry to spoil your dinner.

I promised Judy that I would delete the very offensive pic of the very offensive ass-clown. You all likely saw the pic, it was the one where this putz placed himself in the position of Jesus. I agreed with Judy that it was extremely offensive and asked for one day to make my point before I removed it. This one is still likely to spoil your dinner.

By now, everyone has seen this pic. For me, no – this was not the final straw, I just have to hope it is for others. So, does this ass-clown meet the full representation of the Biblical Anti-Christ? I think so. The following was written in February of 2014, so no, it is not a set up. Here is the link: (link) It is absolute plagiarism, unabashed shameless copying, purposefully done, so they aren’t my words or my prejudices. It was written before said ass-clown was in office for the first time, before he was a politician. I think there are plenty of examples for each of these seven characteristics, and I am sure any reader of the blog can find plenty of examples of their own. And, while some may not believe in the Christian Bible much less that representation of what the Anti-Christ will look like, simple logic would show he’s extremely unfit. Ok, here we go…

Serious, yes. In that way may I ask: Seriously, Republicans, Democrats, Supreme Court Justices; just what the hell is it going to take?

    1. Hi Judy. As promised I made that picture go away. In fairness, the one I replaced it with is just as offensive, just differently offensive.

    2. Hi Judy. I agree make the trump presidency and his corrupt crew go away. But that the Christians who are raking in power and money because of tRump don’t see this as a deal breaker in their support of tRump it makes me wonder if their faith is simply performative. Yes some Christians did speak out against the picture, but they accepted his clearly false statement about how the picture was really him being a doctor healing a man. So will the Christian TV preachers who make their living using spectacle keep laying their hands on him in the Oval Office while praying? Or as Randy asks, when is enough offense enough to stop supporting him? Hugs

  1. Well, what do you want them to do? Obviously, it has to be the Republicans who do something. Dems have been yelling at them to do something, and have been ignored. The Supreme Court cannot legally or constitutionally instigate action against the POTUS.

Citizens ought to be yelling at their congresscritter’s, too, definitely. But, it has to be Republicans to get things right, because they hold the power of the majority.

It’s good to see you back, Blundersonword! I hope you’re feeling better.

    1. Hi Ali; Your primary question: “what do you want them to do?”. Great question, because right now we seem to be of the divided opinion – ‘we’ being the universal we – that ‘it’s the other guy’s problem’. The republicans are going to say it’s not their part to be against themselves. The Democrats are saying that the republicans have the control and need to police their own. In the end, not a dang thing gets done, and I would argue that is the real effort of both parties: stay in power at all costs. In this case the cost is extreme. I’m not putting halo’s on anyone or devil’s horns on anyone, I’m acknowledging that you are right in a majority of what you have said and going further to DEMAND that these people who seek to be powerful actually become moral and demand, as well, that accountability matters. How that happens is…..???

I must admit, from my view, for our leaders to be unable to do anything about this is much like a mechanic looking at a car owner and saying “yes, your car does seem to be intent upon accelerating into the crowd at every opportunity, but what do you want me to do about it?” I am just a simple tax payer, I pay the bills you fix the problems and in this case Trump is the problem. But it’s furthered by, quite frankly, the routine immorality of our leadership in total. And, in every case, we see people accepting the unacceptable with a shrug and “whattya gonna do?”

Such is my opinion, uncontestably a quite simple one.

      1. Well, and your initial take on my comments shows just how divided we the people have become, and how knowledge of government has eroded since GW and the Newt. I in no way intended to say it’s the Republicans’s problem. More that it’s the Republicans’s job to begin proceedings of some sort to rein in this president. They have the majority. Dems can (and have!) file/d numerous bills and resolutions and what-have-you, but to even get to a vote depends upon the Republicans.
Heck, for all I care, let Thune and Johnson and a couple of their compatriots go see POTUS, and explain to him that he either gets back in line, or they remove him. That action is not unprecedented with a rogue president who, compared to this guy, was a puppy.

I think it is obvious, both from history and from current events, that reducing the numbers of Dems does not help we the people. It’s how we got mired in Iraq, not all that long ago.

What is really a lot of the problem, though, aside from electing people who have no idea how to do the jobs of their offices, is that we the people neglect or purposely refuse to direct our government. That’s how we ended up here; too many people being too apathetic to bother even sending an email or making a call to our congresscritters on the regular or especially about issues that are important, rather just letting it go, making it totally the legislature’s decision what to do. It is not the legislature’s decisions-they are there to do our work the way we need it done, as we direct them to do it. You are probably aware of what happens in a workplace under a dearth of supervision, what with your job.

So. We have 3 basically equal branches of government. The legislature is the one that, mostly, can instigate actions. The executive can lobby the legislature to get what s/he wants, but doesn’t instigate actions. The SCOTUS, constitutionally, hears cases brought before it under rules both constitutional and generated by the Court. The executive is the executive. The branches are to work together: legislature writes a law, we the people lobby to improve it, executive signs or vetoes. If the law passes and the/some people don’t like it, they sue to get it changed or repealed, which sometimes has to go as high as the SCOTUS. But together, they are to run the country, under the Constitution, as we the people direct them (except the Court; judges can only consider evidence brought before them in the court.)

So, as to now, we’re back to Republicans. They possess the majority and the rules for getting things into and out of the legislature. Right now, we the people are in a situation, and the Republicans in the legislature need to get off their butts and fix it. They will have most if not all Dems with them, as most Dems have been yelling for Republicans to do something, for some time.

So, there isn’t room for Dem blaming, for both-siding, or for shrugging in the right now. It’s on us to make them get this fixed, but it’s Republicans who have to get things started.

        1. Hi Ali. I did misunderstand your comment to Randy, but what I wrote I believe. And I do believe that the democratic leadership deserves blame. Maxwell Frost and several junior congress members have been in the press both video and written media talking abou tthe horrors of ICE. Why is leadership which is more than the two top leaders, why are they not going to these facilities and using the court order to force their way in like the three junior members I just posted about on Maddow’s clip? Think of how they could embarrass the republicans and get coverage of this torture. But corporate for profit prisons wouldn’t like that so they don’t do it. Think of what happened in Minnesota and how the press highlighted the ICE abuses which caused a surge in democratic voting. Think how much more interest and excitement to attract voters instead of a speech on the floor of the house or senate that kind of action would create. I see Tim Kane on the Sunday shows and he does fact check the republicans who come before him that the interviewers did not correct the lies, but he is so soft spoke and even toned. The republicans know how to project and use their voice with force, raising their voice to make their points.

On the 22nd amendment that is a dead end that no one who is serious is talking about trying. The talking about it is a way to sow doubt about the president’s mental state. Get it in the public and hammer on it. Again Republicans do it well, we can learn from them. The steps of the 22nd Amendment are explained by Belle of the Ranch and it simply can’t work in this environment. I will post the video below.

Oh and yes government / civic are not taught in schools today, that is deliberate. However, the democrats can use discharge petitions, and the leaders of the minority parties can force legislation to be brought up. For a discharged petition, they only need four Republicans, and they have been getting them. But again leadership doesn’t support them. https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5613978-discharge-petition-union-rights-bill/ Schumer can force a vote which will fail but it can be used to hammer the republicans. Like the vote on the war powers act that leadership of the democrats keeps refusing to support. The vote could be used to hammer the republicans in the media for supporting tRump’s war that is hurting the people. But I don’t see them doing that. Do you? Hugs

          1. He can’t force a vote if Thune forbids it.

Dems are doing some of what you say, but they’re also in their Houses trying to do our work. Nobody can be in more than one place at one time. If they can, they better file and run for office.

I never said Dems deserve no blame. But this situation is the Republicans’s situation, and they need to get on fixing it. They will have full Dem support, as Dems have spoken more than once publicly.

But, OK, lets take away what momentum them have before the midterms so that nothing changes, it only gets worse.

Sorry, but there’s a lot of bad stuff, and it wrecks my day. So does arguing with friends who have their own opinions and don’t want to change them and help to make a difference. It’s time for me to go back out in the yard for a while.

          2. Also it’s frustrating to keep having these arguments, when I’ve posted things that uphold what I’m talking about. They don’t take away from what you guys write, but they show that there’s more going on than what’s on MR.

      2. Hi Randy. I agree with you in what you wrote. Far too many elected officials feel their job is staying in their elected office at all costs. They see being elected to public office as a “golden ticket” to fame, fortune, and power. It is a way to increase their personal wealth while wielding authority / power over those they could use to further that personal wealth.

I also feel the democrats are not doing enough to be the opposition party. Something the republicans never have an issue with. They will make stuff up and go on their media arms to the RNC such as Fox emotional channel or one of the many other networks to rant and rave. They do anything to get attention and pound the tables. Democrats need to use their voice and excite the people. Hugs

    2. Hi Ali. I think you know I disagree with some of this. It is the elected leaders job to excite the people to vote. I do agree people should be involved to the best of their ability and time. Most people don’t have time. Normally it is upper middle incomes to upper incomes and the retired that have that ability. Look at Mamdani, he led and he excited the voters, the people to vote. How by doing the will and desire of the voters. He is serving and representing the people not ruling over them. You say the democrats have been yelling for republicans to do something. Yes a few of the minor member back benchers are doing their best to get attention, they are talking about doing something to force the republicans. And the republicans can be forced to act if enough pressure is put on them by the opposition party. As I replied to Randy the republicans right now simply push hard lies and misinformation and won’t back down. When republicans are out of power they use the media, normally the right wing media that repeats the RNC talking points to pound the tables, yell and scream and force the democrats on the defensive. For example the democrats could hang this Iran disaster and the consequences around the necks of the republicans like a mill stone, but all Schumer will say is the president is not doing the war correctly. Not a full throated denunciation of the war is it? Instead of pointing out all the hardships caused at open town halls, in all media, getting sound bites and clips that will play over and over in republican voting areas they go to a few minute press conference or go on one or two mainstream media outlets speaking softly about procedure. Hakeem Jeffries on the Sunday show I watched last weekend said the president needed to come before congress to get permission. Again talking about procedure. That doesn’t inspire the people. Their leadership needs to be making the case to the people that they understand the suffering the public is feeling, that they want to do something to help those suffering. Instead Schumer and Jeffries are deeply in the pockets of big money donors and wealthy lobbies like AIPAC that demand complete loyalty to Israel. So I really do believe that the democrats as an opposition party can do far more than they are doing. Hugs

      1. OK, Scottie. I can’t with this again. I’ve said, we’re here because of Republicans and the public’s apathy. There is plenty of time, people just have to want to. If they don’t want to, they won’t. The kids still get government and civics in school; just like art, it is limited. But it is there.

I don’t recall “exciting voters” being in the US Constitution regarding the legislature.

It’d help if people would read stuff even stuff posted here. I do; I don’t want to duplicate others’s stuff, plus, maybe I need to know the stuff being shared. But, there’s likely no time for that, either. Too busy with more important things than paying attention to and directing our government.

  3. OK. I have gotten a couple of jogs in, had a nice lunch with lean protein, played around with Ollie a little bit, all while obsessing about this argument. I’d made a resolution after the last one to just blithely scroll on and ignore these things instead of trying to cajole people into doing just a little more to help our people, because this is a disagreement that will remain till well after we are gone from Earth.

So, I wish to apologize. Not for what I wrote because as a whole (not in pieces!) it is correct. But my spirit was angry when I wrote it, and I can still see it even though my spirit is no longer angry. Well, about this, anyway.

I was already angry about ongoing situations in the world and especially the US, and how discussion seemed to be primarily about unimportant aspects of important issues. As usual if it’s not about a Democrat. Then, to come here and see the same stuff all over again about Dems being such poor humans while these things are ongoing but not brought on by them, just frosted my cake. We could be doing useful things, but we gotta argue about undercutting Democrats instead. It was like an extension of what had already got my goat.

I know I did not attack anyone personally, and again, I do not retract what I wrote as a whole, but I was flaming when I wrote it, and likely that is obvious. For that, I apologize profusely and sincerely. I don’t like to behave that way anywhere except deep inside my little house by myself.
