If you have read the recent comments you will notice they have dealt with self-improvement and taking control over ones life. I strongly believe this. I know it can be done because I did it. I had a choice. I could be like my abusers and be what they wanted to make me. Or I could make sure I was never like them in anyway. I chose the second one. I think I made the correct choice. I prefer to help others than hurt them; I don’t need to harm others to make myself feel better. I like being kind and nice. I like lifting others up even if it is just with a hello and a smile. I treat the people I meet in my life as the humans they are with feelings and needs, not just objects to my own goals. Yes, I think I made the right choice. Hugs

Yes, but one must first know a choice can be made. Just because you were not told choice is a real thing, to make a choice is always possible, including the choice to disbelieve what you are reading right now.

Hi Rawgod. Yes I can see people who don’t want to change blocking / denying the idea of change being possible. But why? What would the goal be? To stay the same, to continue to make what you have become others fault? That is what the people who adopted me and their hellspawn did. They never went beyond their town, never learned, never grew. They stayed bitter, angry people, looking out only for themselves and hating others. I can’t see living that way. It is not worth living that way. Hugs

It starts with someone preaching hate to them as gospel truth, not telling them the words do not have to be believed. One of my greatest moments of clarity came when someone said to me, “You know, you don’t have to believe that crap. Just because it is printed words does not make it gospel truth.” Previously someone had told, if the words are in print, I had to believe them. I was told that as a kid, so of course I believed it. Funny, what people say to children before they know anything different.

Hi Rawgod. For the hellspawn, they were taught to be angry and aggrieved, and to believe that everyone was out to get them so they needed to get them first. They were taught unless they got an advantage over the other person they were the losers. Hugs
