I am the youngest public plaintiff in the “Don’t Say Gay” lawsuit.

I am the youngest public plaintiff in the “Don’t Say Gay” lawsuit. I am my Florida high school’s first openly-gay Class President. I am being silenced, and I need your help. 🧵

A few days ago, my principal called me into his office and informed me that if my graduation speech referenced my activism or role as a plaintiff in the lawsuit, school administration had a signal to cut off my microphone, end my speech, and halt the ceremony. (2/8)

I am the first openly-gay Class President in my school’s history–this censorship seems to show that they want me to be the last. This threat is not the first that I have received from administration about my queer rights. (3/8)

When administration discovered that I was organizing a Say Gay walkout, they had all our posters ripped from the walls and told me to shut down the protest. They said they would send school security if I did not listen. (4/8)

I held the walkout anyways, and it became our county’s largest protest. I won’t give into threats and I won’t be silenced. I have a plan to fight back again, and this time, I need your help. (5/8)

The SEE Initiative has secured 10,000 Say Gay stickers that we’re prepared to ship to high school seniors across Florida. We want you to wear them on your gowns as you cross the graduation stage, reminding underclassmen that we’re done with highschool, not the fight. (6/8)

Fill out the form to get your stickers now. https://forms.gle/opz1Hdq5owT7Cv4R8 For all the kids who are not graduating and not escaping, we must say gay. #advocategraduate #saygay (7/8)

Homocon Podcaster Dave Rubin: New White House Press Secretary Got Job Because “She’s A Black Lesbo”

For those not familiar with Dave Rubin he has a history.    He is after the big bucks.  He used to be a liberal / progressive and was on the TYT network.   But that doesn’t pay the big bucks so he switched becoming a right wing token gay on The Blase network spouting far right talking points.  TheBlaze was a pay television network founded by Glenn Beck.   Rubin became wealthy, bought a mansion and cozied up to people that hated him for being gay and insulted Rubins same sex marriage to his face on his own show.   Then Rubin said he was moving to the maga haven of Florida from the evil liberal California.   That is when his well paying buddies turned on him.   See Dave Rubin announced in March that he and his husband, David Janet, had fathered children through In Vitro Fertilization and surrogacy.    The right attacked him, his spouse, the babies and are being vicious to him.    He is shock by it, they are supposed to attack the other LGBTQ+ but leave him alone as his is their token gay.   I am not sure but I heard that Beck turned on him and his show was moved to a crowd funded platform he co-founded.   He is a gay version of Candice Owens, a token who spouts what the right wants to hear that the right uses to claim that even gay people (black in Owens case) support their wild ideas.

“She [Jen Psaki] will now be replaced by Karine Jean-Pierre. We know nothing about her other than the most important things — she’s a Black lesbo.

“And for that, she’s got the gig. Very exciting. She’s also married to a CNN anchor. You can’t make this stuff up.

“She’s married to Suzanne Malveaux who’s a CNN anchor. I did not know Suzanne is a lesbian. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.”

“You would think in terms of optics, if you were bringing in a new White House press secretary, you could possibly find someone who wasn’t married to a CNN anchor.

“Do you think that would be possible? But the impossible is possible with these people.” – Homocon podcaster Dave Rubin, on today’s show.

Yes, there are such things as self-hating gay people.

Also gay men who are obviously misogynists, too.

He claims to know all these personal relationship things about Ms. Jean-Pierre, but not a fucking thing about her career or qualifications. When he says “we know nothing,” he’s confessing both is own personal ignorance and lack of caring to go find out.

She has a long history in both politics and press relations dating back to the beginning of the Obama administration.

Misogyny isn’t limited to men in the LGBT world. There are clearly some conservative, lesbian and transgender female misogynists too, not to mention some misandrists of all genders in the LGBT community.

Caitlyn Haiku TampaZeke • 16 minutes ago

The members of the anti-transgender cults (aka TERFs) which closely work with far-right religious groups like the Heratige Foundation and Liberty Council, are some of the worst misogynists because on one hand they (falsely) claim to be feminists, then support the most misogynistic, anti-feminist groups around.

(((heleninedinburgh))) TampaZeke • 19 hours ago

Western society is institutionally misogynistic (and racist, homophobic, transphobic, and all the rest of it). We have to unlearn the bigotries we absorb. A lot of people don’t bother.

Houndentenor (((heleninedinburgh))) • 18 hours ago

It’s a good deal of work to root out all the racism and sexism and other bigotry we were indoctrinated with and discard it. I know I’m not done, but I am working on it. Some lgbt people just double down on it. I don’t get it.

Houndentenor BeccaM • 18 hours ago

She’s black and lesbian and therefore must not be as qualified as any white straight man who was under consideration for the job.

Seriously, Rubin just gets more deranged. I guess that’s what happens when you turn on your own community for a gig. No friends except for people who don’t believe he should have any rights. I’d rather starve.

Rebecca Gardner • 20 hours ago

This country has degraded into Kindergarten IQ bullying and utter stupidity. How has this not just become a thing, but become the norm?

Steverino JauntyJohn • 19 hours ago

So I suppose he is comfortable being referred to as a “homo,” although “fascist faggot” might be more of a badge of honor.

Gigi • 19 hours ago

And Rubin got his job because he’s a white, self-loathing gay man who’s married to a man who’s his producer.

Cops FORCE Transgender Teen Into Foster Care During Her Minecraft Live Stream

Tennessee cops bust down the door of a 16-year-old transgender girl while she was playing Minecraft on a Twitch live stream for being truant from school. As it turns out, the school rejected her use of her preferred bathroom and was pressured into going to school online, and since she protested the online schooling, she was taken away into foster care. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian discuss on The Young Turks.

Taliban Announces Afghan Women Must Cover Entirely, Stay Mostly Indoors

Is this what the religious SCOTUS want for US women.  The men to control their lives to the point where the men get punished for a woman’s actions because women have no agency and must be controlled like livestock?   We see the extremes when religion takes over a country, yet a segment of the US is driving us to that.   For years people said it couldn’t happen because we have a constitution and laws … well now we see what can happen if you install religious ideologues on the highest court that makes rulings on if a law is legal, and they are driven to support their religion’s rules over the constitution’s protections.   We become a country where religion becomes the most important aspect, where religion has the final say in a person’s rights or life.  This so against what the founders of this country really wanted it is stunning it is happening.   But one small group of the population wanted it and they worked hard through decades to get it.   This is the first time ever that SCOTUS has ruled that the constitution doesn’t support existing rights.  Never has SCOTUS been regressive, it was always progressive.  Until it was stacked with complete republican ideologs.

“This is not about religion,” says Amna Nawaz on the heels of the Taliban’s announcement that women must cover entirely and stay indoors except for necessity. “This is about control.” »

Man Who Taunted Roe Protesters Isn’t FDNY Member, He’s Member Of NY Young GOP Club’s “Catholic Caucus”

This is an update on the earlier post of the story.

NBC New York reports:

A man in FDNY clothes seen taunting pro-abortion rights protesters outside a church, in a video that went viral this weekend on social media, isn’t actually affiliated with the department in any way, officials said Monday.

The man, wearing a jacket with various FDNY logos and an “America First” cap, appears to tell the women they do not have a choice in having children; he appears to tell one woman that her body is his and she will have his baby.

The video was shared by far-right members of Congress like Rep. Paul Gosar and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who both called the man and his fellow counter-protesters “heroes”. The video stirred enough controversy that “FDNY” was a trending topic across the United States on Twitter Monday morning.

Man Tells Abortion Rights Activists ‘Your Body Is Mine’ in Viral Video

https://www.newsweek.com/man-tells-abortion-rights-activists-your-body-mine-viral-video-1704667

A viral video showing a man telling abortion rights protesters that “your body is mine” and “you’re having my baby” has sparked outrage on social media.

Protesters rallied in cities across the country at the weekend, days after a leaked draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court suggested it was poised to overturn the landmark 1973 ruling in Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion nationwide.

The leak prompted many more protesters than usual to gather outside the Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City on Saturday, calling for abortion to remain a legal option nationwide.

“Not the church, not the state, the people must decide their fate,” they chanted, according to the video.

Their chants drew a response from a man among a group of anti-abortion protesters on the steps of the church, who regularly go from the church to protest at a nearby Planned Parenthood.

“I am the people, I am the people, I am the people, the people have decided, the court has decided, you lose,” he responded to the crowd.

In response to another chant, the man—who was wearing an “America First” hat—said: “You have no choice. Not your body, not your choice, your body is mine and you’re having my baby.”

Closed captions on the clip described the man as “FDNY” (New York Fire Department), but it is not clear if the man is actually affiliated with the city’s fire department.

He appeared to be wearing a fleece bearing FDNY insignia in the clip. The FDNY has been contacted for comment.

“Important: despite the CC, we still don’t know if this fascist is actually from FDNY. What we do know is that the Archdiocese of NY @NY_Arch are hosting fascists + giving them a platform,” NYC for Abortion Rights wrote on Twitter. The group and the Archdiocese of New York have also been contacted for comment.

The clip, which was initially posted on Instagram by an organizer, amassed more than a million views after it was shared widely on Twitter and prompted “FDNY” to trend on the platform.

“Today in NYC hundreds of pro-abortion folks showed up to counter clinic harassers,” Joshua Potash wrote in a tweet. “You can see the horrifying truth of what anti-abortion extremists really think when one says ‘your body is mine.'”

“If this guy really is @FDNY, he’s gotta go,” Jeff Sharlet tweeted. “Imagine the terror a rape survivor might feel if this guy, who says he owns women’s bodies and forces them bear his children, comes into her home. He made his choice. He chose threats over his job. He’s literally unsafe.”

Alyssa Miller wrote: “If there was any doubt about the ideology driving anti-abortion perspectives, this @FDNY firefighter just put it right out there. ‘Not your choice, not your body, your body is mine.’ The absolute glee he takes in saying it should disturb literally every woman everywhere.”

Amy Siskind wrote: “As horrible as his public statements are, as is @FDNY silence, let’s acknowledge that this scumbag is saying out loud what so many Republicans white men are already thinking and saying in private. This is their plan.”

Todd20036 • 30 minutes ago

Psst: people frown when you say the quiet parts out loud

ErnestMc • 17 minutes ago

He has the right to shout rape-y stuff in the public square, but FDNY having rape enthusiasts on their team (assuming he’s actually a fireman) may not be great PR for them.

And, since he thinks he can do whatever he wants to a woman’s body, the reverse should be true. How about forced castration?

The_Wretched • 18 minutes ago

“Silly “Allison” trying to get an off-duty FIREFIGHTER in trouble for exercising his Right of Free Speech. THIS IS STILL AMERICA. The dude can say whatever he wants.”

More willful misuse of 1A. If the firefighter gets to say the quiet part out loud (and what a plain indictment of Alito’s stupid idea about law), so does everyone else get to tell the firefighter how off putting he is.

Misutaa Roboto The_Wretched • 16 minutes ago

Yeah, threats have never been covered by the First Amendment. But this threat is slightly veiled, so I guess it must be okay after all. I’m sure he’s confident this SCOTUS has his back on that.

Misutaa Roboto • 26 minutes ago • edited

IOW: Douchebag shouts a little too overtly about raping women while still delirious with glee from the prospect of forcing victims to give birth to his offspring.

Rex • 22 minutes ago

I will then assume they will be paying child support from the moment of conception.

Ann Kah • 22 minutes ago

He’s young. He is visibly immature in his leering behavior. He is declaring that he has no intention of growing out of his testosterone-fueled high school years. I fully expect his mind to stay in that stunted state while the rest of him sags and wrinkles. These perennial man-children are the real threat to American society.

The_Wretched Mark • 14 minutes ago

The righties, Alito included, are afraid that black and brown people will “out breed the whites” and “replace us”. It’s called ‘replacement theory.’ It’s about as racist an idea as there can be.

Replacement theory then wraps back into their anti-abortion agenda. They seem to think that they can increase the total amount of “white” by forcing more births. Even worse, of of the right wing briefs suggested there is a shortage of white babies for adoption (xtian indoctrination) and they want to make more available.

This firefighter is hitting all the points they want.

Survey of 34,000 LGBTQ+ Youth Underlines the Power of Affirmation and Joy

A new Trevor Project survey highlights the diverse experiences, joys, and needs of LGBTQ+ youth across the U.S.

A new nationwide survey confirms once again what LGBTQ+ people of all ages already knew: affirming and supporting queer and trans youth saves lives.

On Wednesday, LGBTQ+ advocacy and crisis support organization The Trevor Project released its latest research into the mental health of queer youth, a survey of 34,000 young people ages 13-24. The report is a revealing portrait of how LGBTQ+ youth are dealing with legislative attacks and the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a road map for how to best support them.

One key finding in the survey — as has been noted in almost every other study of its kind, including last year’s survey — is the power of family and community affirmation to positively influence mental health. According to the report, only 6% of LGBTQ+ youth who “felt high social support from their family” had attempted suicide in the past year, less than half the rate of those who felt they had “low to moderate” family support. The same was true for communities in general; 21% of youth who described their community as “very unaccepting” had attempted suicide in the past year, compared with just 8% of youth who lived in “very accepting” communities.

The survey, which recruited participants via targeted social media ads, also highlighted the diversity and complex experiences of LGBTQ+ young people. 55% of survey respondents were White, compared to around 60% of the general U.S. population per the 2020 Census; 51% identified themselves as bi or pansexual, and 48% said they were transgender or nonbinary.

“Lumping diverse youth into broad identity categories and applying single-size approaches does a disservice to everyone, and makes our work to end LGBTQ youth suicide even harder,” said Dr. Myeshia Price, Senior Research Scientist for The Trevor Project, in a statement. “This year’s findings emphasize the importance of intersectionality in research, particularly among a community as diverse as LGBTQ youth, as disparities in mental health and suicide risk were found across race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity.”

The survey also highlighted struggles that LGBTQ+ youth face in obtaining mental health care. Overall, of the factors preventing young people from obtaining the proper care, “fear of discussing mental health concerns” was the most common barrier, followed by “concerns with obtaining parent/caregiver permission,” the fear of not being taken seriously by providers, and affordability of care.

article image

Even when it doesn’t pass, discriminatory legislation still impacts trans youth.

Crucially, however, the survey also includes data on how to best support LGBTQ+ young people, and things that bring them joy. Respondents reported feeling support from parents and caregivers who were welcoming to queer and trans peers, “talked with them respectfully” about their identity, and simply used their proper names and pronouns. “[T]hey also described hundreds of ways in which they find joy and strength in their lives,” the report notes, like attending drag shows, dance, video games, and “just knowing that there’s people out there like me.” That joy of community can come from close relationships and mass media alike; 89% of respondents said LGBTQ+ representation in TV shows and movies “made them feel good about being LGBTQ,” as did celebrities coming out and non-LGBTQ+ celebrities expressing allyship.

“We urge fellow researchers to include expansive identity terminology in all youth survey research, and for public health officials and youth-serving organizations to tailor services to meet LGBTQ youth’s unique needs,” said Dr. Price. “Only then will we be able to better understand and support the young people who need us most.”

GOP Senate candidate Blake Masters wants to allow states to ban contraception use

After the U.S. Supreme Court overturns women’s constitutional right to abortion this summer, one Arizona Republican candidate for U.S. Senate thinks judges should also take aim at the right to buy and use contraception.

Blake Masters, a Tucson-based venture capitalist, boasts on his website that he will only vote to confirm federal judges “who understand that Roe and Griswold and Casey were wrongly decided, and that there is no constitutional right to abortion.” Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, decided in 1973 and 1992, respectively, both upheld a constitutional right to abortion access.

But the ruling in Griswold v. Connecticut in 1965 protected a married couple’s right to buy and use contraceptives without government restrictions. The case centered on a Connecticut law that banned the use of contraceptives, which the court determined violated a married couple’s constitutional right to privacy, establishing the basis for the right to privacy with respect to intimate practices.

Masters’ stance puts him on the opposite side of the issue from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the campaign arm of GOP senators, which has advised candidates on talking points following the leak of a draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade.

In a section instructing candidates on how to “forcefully refute Democrat lies” about Republicans’ positions on abortion and health care, the NRSC declares that “Republicans DO NOT want to take away contraception.”

Elsewhere in the talking points memo to GOP Senate candidates, the NRSC advises them to say, “I’m not in favor of putting women or doctors in jail. I would never take away anyone’s contraception or health care. That’s just the typical BS you get from politicians.”

Masters’ campaign could not immediately be reached for comment.

The Supreme Court in June will issue its ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case centered on a Mississippi abortion law that is a vehicle for the court to overturn Roe, as conservative justices appear poised to do in a draft opinion that was leaked.

In an election year that is supposed to favor Republicans across the country, Democrats and reproductive rights activists are concerned about what a Republican-controlled Senate chamber could mean, not just for abortion rights but a host of other issues.

In Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion, he mentioned other landmark cases that could potentially be overturned in the future, Including Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage.

President Donald Trump hasn’t yet endorsed an Arizona Senate candidate, but Masters is viewed as the favorite to receive his endorsement. His campaign is also being supported by his former boss and mentor, technology investor Peter Thiel, who is spending at least $10 million to bankroll a campaign to support Masters. Masters has already won the support of some extremist Republicans, most recently Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who spoke to a white nationalist conference earlier this year. Other media reports have noted his past praise for the Unabomber and Hermann Goering, one Hitler’s top military leaders and one of the most prominent members of the Nazi Party.

It’s unclear where the NRSC stands on all Republican candidates in Arizona, but Florida Sen. Rick Scott – who leads the group – was trying hard to convince term-limited Gov. Doug Ducey to jump into the race on several occasions, signaling possible disinterest in the field.

If the NRSC is serious that “Republicans will not take away contraception,” it might cause a slight hiccup in Masters’ candidacy should he win in the Aug. 2 primary.

Ok.

Better, I like an idea I read on JMG over 10 years ago now. Every straight male is snipped before puberty with a procedure that can be reversed. Only after the guy can show a medical review of his physical and mental abilities and only after he shows proof he can financially raise the child does he get to have the women sign off on a document that she agrees.

Put that is n an amendment for these bills and watch the screaming on the right.

Next up– they’ll use the increase in un-wanted children as a pragmatic argument that IVF is unnecessary and can be eliminated as a form of abortion, as well.
