In addition to essentially banning classroom discussions of LGBTQ+ content, HB 1557, also known as “Don’t Say Gay,”stripped students of the right to privacy with regards to their education and health records and the right to consent to school healthcare services. It also banned school districts from enacting policies that would prohibit school personnel from “notifying a parent about… student’s mental, emotional, or physical health or well-being.” That wording is vague, but it could be used to develop policies that compel school officials to out students to their parents, as the bill originally specified. Considering that Florida has been on the forefront of the national legislative war on trans youth, its usage of software that would leave children’s medical data vulnerable is a nationwide concern.

Remember these are kids and little girls even before they start puberty. The question air goes back 20 years. That will cover high schoolers all their lives and most college students. The survey by the state says they will share the information with third party’s so who has your daughters cycles, durations, severity, and other information of their menstruation. Think about it, this is the state that has called teachers groomers for mentioning gay people / same sex marriage exists, and indoctrinating 5 year olds in how to be transgender by mentioning that transgender people exist. Scary because religious leaders say there is no such things, god did not do it in the Bible so no one can be them things. Hugs

Though Rubio has appeared in plenty of photo opssurrounding Hurricane Ian and the damage it’s caused to his state, it’s unclear how all those concerned faces actually benefit the people of Florida. Rubio did not attenda Senate vote this week on releasing emergency aid to Florida; his colleague, fellow Republican Sen. Rick Scott, voted against the measure, as did Rep. Matt Gaetz. Rubio’s office did not immediately return Them’s request for comment.

“We have seen increased threats and harassment directed not just at drag performers who do library readings, but also at library staff, teachers, and others who support inclusive learning materials for youth,” Ellis said. “Public figures, media, and tech companies must be held accountable. And elected officials like Senator Rubio must follow through on their oath of office to protect and represent all of their constituents, rather than pushing anti-LGBTQ rhetoric for political points.”

When your religion and your politicians preach hate, even kids feel entitled to lash out and hurt those they disagree with. I am not sure this is the best result, but in many cases before this the teen would have simple gotten away without being punished for attacking a gay person. Hugs

Another case of a religious legislator wanting to repeal protections of trans people to make their god feel better. They don’t care at all about the rights of the trans people or anyone else, only that their god is happy. The weird thing is their god seems to hate and be unhappy about the same people they are. Weird? But a case where some people think religion is an excuse to discriminate against everyone they dislike. This is what happens when religion takes over a country.
