Armageddon Update

(Stick with it; he puts things together well, and the Armageddon part isn’t all of it.)

Erasure

Randy sent me this.  This is what I have been talking about.  I hope you will take the time to watch the short one and the 3:31 minute video.  Not the most riveting I admit.  But it is designed for little kids.  Did you spot any mention of the sex of the penguins?  In all the book there is only one small hint and little kids won’t notice it.  I went looking for it because I wanted to know how so many people were sure the penguins were a same sex couple.  One word, one made up word not even in the writings or spoken in the video.  Hint it is on the cover of the book.  The name of their home and where they baked the cakes.  Pengrooms.  One other clue is the rainbow colored boards on the tree.  Yup for that the book must never be seen or read ever.  It is a sin, a horror for kids to see or hear.  It is a cute little kids book.  Randy informed me that enough people contacted Amazon about the fake negative comments that they were removed.

See it is not about protecting kids, it is not about sexualizing kids, it is not about confusing kids that these people fear and hate.  It is about acceptance and tolerance of something different from them that they don’t agree with.  To them there is no live and let live.  There is no you do your thing and I will do me.  To them the world and all in it must be just as they are, do as they do, believe as they believe.  And most important worship who they worship.  They demand a bland world where only the things they celebrate are seen and heard, where their way is superior to all others.

It is about removing all mention of LGBTQ+ from society.  It is about removing everything not straight cis from media of any type.  The misnamed one million moms who is one lady with a computer and a printer along with a few thousand followers on social media complains bitterly about any commercial that has even the hint of a same sex couple in it, even a hint.  It is hurting the children see.  The goal is making sure LGBTQ+ kids, and yes there are LGBTQ+ kids, don’t see or know anyone like themselves anywhere.  It is so they don’t feel accepted.  They feel they must hide who they are and tell no one.  They want those kids who are born different and feel that difference to be deep in the closet and stay there, never to come out and be happy as their true selves.  These groups pushing this hate want no anti-bullying programs as they want kids who are different to be picked on, harassed, and beat up.  They do not want them accepted by their peers, teachers and fellow students.  No they want them beaten up.  I know this because one of the co-authors of the Florida don’t say gay bill said it was why he helped write the bill.   That gay kids, that trans kids could be accepted by classmates and treated fairly drove him to tears.  Yes tears.  I saw him weep as he spoke of those kinds of kids finding acceptance in the classroom.

One guy using social media has already gotten a dozen big name companies to roll back and remove their DEI programs and support for the LGBTQ+ including pride merchandise and parades.  Because he and the others like him threaten these companies with the threat of accusing them of harming kids and trying to hurt their businesses they give in.  One guy is spearheading this but there are others.  They are driven to remove us from society, in this guy’s case so his god will love him and give him an afterlife.   We need to stand up against this guy and these haters.   We have to do that.  We must not let them drive the country back to 1950 not even to 1980.  We must remain visible and fight for the rights of all of us.  We don’t drop a letter here or there from our community to please the haters.  We have seen in history they never stop with just the one group, they work to get rid of them all.  We must get vocal, we must fight back.  Hugs

Wooden Window Frames Luci Tapahonso

The morning sun streams through the little kitchen’s
wooden panes; its luminescence tempts me to forego coffee.
But I don’t. The dark coffee scent melds with the birds’
chirping along the hidden acacia. Then, a small bird
alights on the cross of the wooden clothesline.
Its tiny head turns from side to side, then as if sensing me,
it gazes at me through a window square.
We ponder each other, then remember our manners,
and it flies off into the clean, cold air.

My Kiowa friends say a visit from a bird
is the spirit of a departed loved one.
I think again of Marie, my friend, my comadre –
the many feast days, powwows, and trips we shared.
We cruised down Taos’s one main street,
and rushed to Smith’s grocery for last-minute necessities,
or Walmart for the white cylinder candles for wakes.
We hauled huge, bulging bags to the town dump.

Oh, sister, this entire town brims with memories
of our long sisterhood, since our early twenties
when we were young mothers,
but that was in the last century.

This quiet casita is surrounded by tall stands
of elm and cottonwood trees, their bare, brown
branches stark against the deep, blue sky.

Every other week, snow falls in thin waves
onto the flat ochre houses
that seem anchored to the ground.
Outside of these thick adobe walls, a stillness settles upon everything.
As memories drift all around, I gather ingredients for a stew,
scents of coffee and toast linger around the arched doorway,
and the warm air in the kitchen lightens the chopping of vegetables.
Soon, the windowpanes are damp from the simmering stew.

All there is now, is to wait, sip coffee, and watch the snow
fall in layers on the roofs, trees, fences, and cars.

I am in a serene cocoon of memories.
All our conversations and laughter are silent now.
Somewhere north of here, dogs bark playfully,
probably romping in the fresh snow.
Just up the road at the pueblo, your family gathers.
They replenish the fire, stir pots of red chile
and place potato salad and platters
of sliced oven bread on the table.

Here is a place where nothing can die
Darkness that lives beneath the leaves

We bring our nights there without knowing
We bring our fear there before the singing begins
We bring our silent names there hoping we are forgiven

We bring our hands there scented of a river

We bring our prayers that hide and watch us
The landscape where we have held the loose feathers
Of a fallen bird

And awakened in the land of the unseen

Here is a place where nothing can die …

This stretchy lithium-ion battery is self-healing

November 28, 2024 Ellen Phiddian

Stretchy, self-healing lithium-ion batteries could be a viable power source for wearable mobile phones, soft robotics, and electronic skin, according to a new study.

The researchers have made small, stretching batteries that can power an LED light – but they say their work is shows “high promise” for building future stretchable and wearable electronics.

They’ve published their work in Supramolecular Materials.

While there are dozens of research prototypes for stretchableflexible, and self-healing batteries, it’s not always as easy to combine the properties.

Lithium-ion batteries that are stretchable – that is, capable of lengthening or squeezing and then returning to its original shape – and self-healing have been particularly difficult to make.

“Our work provides a novel and viable strategy for the design of stretchable and self-healable energy storage devices, showing high promise for the application in stretchable and wearable electronics,” says senior author Professor Xiaokong Liu, a researcher at Jilin University, China.

Liu and colleagues made their battery out of long polymer molecules, connected to each other with nitrogen-carbon bonds called imine bonds.

These polymers could both bind the positive and negative electrodes of the battery together, and act as electrolytes, which allow charged particles to move between the electrodes.

The researchers used the polymers to build a tiny lithium-ion battery, using both lithium iron phosphate and lithium-titanate electrodes.

“Our achievement lies in the construction of a lithium-ion battery with all-in-one configuration, wherein the electrolyte and electrodes can be fused together at the interface through the exchange of the dynamic imine bonds existing in both the electrolyte and electrodes,” says Liu.

The battery could still provide power while being stretched, and after being cut in half and healed back together.

“This work provides a novel and viable strategy for the design of stretchable and self-healable energy storage devices,” write the researchers in their paper.

Pope Innocent II, in a papal bull (or major sacred pronouncement of canon law), ordered that Jews, “whether men or women, must in all Christian countries distinguish themselves from the rest of the population in public places by a special kind of clothing.” The rule was interpreted as requiring a badge on clothing as determined by each country. In England, for example, the tablets with the 10 commandments were used.

Senator Eugene McCarthy (D-Minnesota) announced that he would run on an anti-Vietnam war platform against President Lyndon Johnson for the nomination of the Democratic Party. McCarthy, though a contender to be Johnson’s running mate in 1964, had since become increasingly disenchanted with U.S. policy toward Vietnam, and opposed the war in his campaign.

McCarthy on the campaign trail

“I am not for peace at any price, but for an honorable, rational and political solution to this war; a solution which I believe will enhance our world position, encourage the respect of our Allies and our potential adversaries, which will permit us to get the necessary attention to other commitments . . . and leave us with resources and moral energy to deal effectively with [the] pressing domestic problems of the United States itself.”

The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act became law. It provided for a waiting period before the purchase of a handgun, and for the establishment of a national instant criminal background check system to be used by firearms dealers before the transfer of any handgun. The law was named for James Brady, President Ronald Reagan’s press secretary, who became a paraplegic after being shot in the assassination attempt on Reagan. Following his recovery, he and his wife, Sarah, became leading proponents of controlling the proliferation of handguns.

Tens of thousands of activists, students, union members and environmentalists demonstrating for global justice shut down the World Trade Organization (WTO) summit in Seattle, Washington. International media coverage ignored both the blockade and the police riot (and an enormous labor-sponsored rally and march), focusing instead on minor property damage committed by a few dozen self-described anarchists.

So does Trump’s bible leave out a few pages?

Leviticus 19:4 ESV / Do not turn to idols or make for yourselves any gods of cast metal: I am the Lord your God.

Note that these ‘religious leaders’ are literally praying over the golden Trump idol. Proof god doesn’t exist, or they all would have been struck by lightening, maybe drowned in a flood or something.

Kamyk

I am talking to his sister right now.  Kamyk was sent to the ER as I told everyone and then admitted.   Here is the rest of the story.   Hugs

He has a perforated stomach and a huge abcess in his abdomen

He is severely malnutrition from not eating

He was in septic shock from the abcess Wednesday when he went to ER

With a GI BLEED

I asked her some questions on his care and the cards and stuff everyone sent him.

He went to a different hospital this time and they are much more attending I called there today and left a message for the social worker. In my message i asked her not to return to sender and I would

Pick any mail her got up

Well his wbc is going down and his rbc is going up… that’s progress

Kamyk’s sister Julie has the entire family depending on her right now.  Kamyk, their other sister who is also in a care facility with a leg broken in two places due to a hospital error, her very elderly parents in their mid 80s with issues, plus she has her own family with a young son to think of.   Well I am off to bed, Ron has already headed down to the bedroom and I wish to join him.   Hugs

An update on my friend Kamyk

Hi everyone.  I am grateful to everyone that sent cards to my friend and also to the support people gave to me.  He had ups and downs.  This was what I got from his sister on Thursday morning.   Hugs

Hi Scottie he is not good

He hasn’t been able to track anyone because his phone is out of time and data.

He was admitted to ICU after 2 ct scans and the placement of 2 drain tubes. I’m scared

Fun, beautiful

Maybe the other way around. Dance, dance! I don’t know a lot of Dua Lipa’s work, but I really, really like the work that I’ve seen and heard of hers. She’s quite talented, and has a neat attitude, too-
