“Almost as soon as Politico published its explosive story on Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s leaked draft opinion, which strongly suggests the court is about to overturn Roe v. Wade, conservatives responded by focusing not on the content of the news, but how it was obtained. Online Monday night, there were nearly immediate calls to find and punish the leaker. In a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell insistently told reporters that the prospect of recriminalizing abortion was “not the story for today,” but rather the supposedly dangerous precedent of the leak. Also on Tuesday afternoon, Operation Rescue, the notorious anti-abortion activist group responsible for some of the movement’s most outrageous tactics, joined the fray, issuing a press release declaring that the leak had most likely come from the office of Justice Sonia Sotomayor. That claim traced back to pretty thin sourcing: a Twitter thread posted by a Republican political strategist who, about an hour after Politico published its story Monday night, suggested he’d solved the mystery: One of Sotomayor’s staffers had joined hundreds of classmates in opposing the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh and, at an earlier point, had been quoted in Politico regarding a case on which he’d assisted. “

Cawthorn Issues 8-Minute Video: I’m No “Drag Queen”

US Representative Madison Cawthorn released a new video defending himself after a series of negative stories, saying the media is unfairly attacking the North Carolina freshman. Particularly, Mr Cawthorn criticised Politico, which published photos of him wearing lingerie.
“This article is pushing some kind of ludicrous narrative that I’m some sort of drag queen on the side, aside from being a congressman,” he said. “And really, this is just poor journalism, and I’m not surprised. It is Politico after all – not exactly the same journalistic standards as Fox or Newsmax.”

A political group whose primary focus is unseating U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn released a graphic video Wednesday showing Cawthorn naked and simulating a sex act near someone he describes as a friend. Cawthorn acknowledged the video, which was released by American Muckrakers PAC, a political group that runs the Fire Madison Cawthorn website. David B. Wheeler, president of American Muckrakers PAC, said in a statement that the video was “passed to us by a former supporter” of Cawthorn.
He addressed a recent citation he received for bringing a loaded gun to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. “I love and defend the Second Amendment as a man in a wheelchair who faces death threats,” he said. “… I carry a weapon almost all the time. Obviously, though, I made a mistake. I forgot to disarm before I went through a TSA checkpoint. That’s my bad, and I have to own that one.”
Here is the video. It is a male in the bed he crawls into, keep the volume low at the start because there are some sharp squeals and Cawthorn is making loud weird sounds but by half way through you can turn it up and hear someone say “You have your dick in his face” and the guy in the bed says “You have your ass on my face”. Now I am gay. I don’t have a problem with gay or people that have non-traditional sexual relationships. But I do have a problem with hypocrisy. This is the super religious family values candidate who is constantly attacking the LGBTQ+. Yet we have him dressed in women’s lingerie, having a male staffer touch his crotch while both talk about Cawthorn having a hot naked body under him, and now he sexually acts out face fucking a guy sleeping near / beside him. The idea behind a lot of the laws of the US is the constitution gives the right to privacy, liberty, and body autonomy. Everything from the civil rights laws, Loving vs Virginia which allowed different race people to marry, abortion, Lawerance vs Texas which gave everyone the right to have sex as they wished instead of just penis in vagina, (that law that banned oral sex and anal sex was used just against gay men but did apply to everyone) and of course the right to same sex marriage. The average right wing only wants their hated people subjugated and the right to discriminate without repercussions. But the real power behind this is the hard right businesses and the religious right. Both need to take the country back before the government had the authority or ability to stand up for the people. Why do you think there is such push back against anything resembling what the other advanced countries do for their public, because these groups lose more control every time the people get more right / benefits from their government? It might threaten those over the top profits. But also it threatens the religious leaders that know if people had rights and acceptance along with comfortable living they wouldn’t need religion to offer relief. Anyway anyone who doesn’t think that the next rights to fall are anything not straight male Christian did not read the leaked report. Alito to specifically mention that there was no right to privacy in the constitution, and that is what Lawerance vs Texas was based on that gave the right of people to enjoy whatever sex they wanted with another adult is based on. Remember Ted Cruz when he was the AG of Texas tried to ban adults from using sex toys in the state. Welcome to the Puritan age.

First of all, Obergefell is a bad Supreme Court decision and if we had a Supreme Court worth its salt, they would overturn Obergefell.
But they’re not going to. They explicitly say — Alito says, I think three separate times in that decision that I read in nearly its totality on the air yesterday, that this has no impact on other cases of different lines. Which is a clear reference to Obergefell, repeatedly.
But Democrats know deep in the cockles of their tiny little Grinch-like hearts on abortion, they know that the abortion issue is not a winner. So they’re trying to expand it out – well, you never know.
The Supreme Court, they might go after gay rights, they might go after — sure, you’re right. The same Supreme Court in which Neil Gorsuch idiotically ruled that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 covers transgender people is now going to overrule Obergefell.
Slavery is deeply rooted in history.
So, I guess the Supreme Court is going to re-introduce it.

If interracial marriage is based on the Equal Protection clause. Then why doesn’t same-sex marriage fall under the same category? We’re taking about a civil contract between two non-related consenting adults. It’s the exact same thing.

I was reading an article from CNN that says the Court may use the Civil Rights Act of 1984 to defend Loving while then going after Obergefel so Thomas’ marriage won’t be jeopardized.

My argument in favor of gay marriage was that there was no compelling public interest in preventing two men or two women from marrying.
In fact, there is a public interest in favor of gay marriage because it provides both financial and psychological stability for the partners involved (which, in turn, benefits society as whole).
Heaven forbid their right wing fake religion be offended by same sex marriages. They blame all their problems on their own hatred toward people.
