Staggering Amount Of Republicans See NOTHING Wrong With Widespread Gun Violence

If you don’t want to listen to the discussion please listen to the first few minutes as she lists the shootings that happened in just the last few days.    Hugs

As we just completed the first weekend of June, 12 people have been killed and another 38 were injured due to mass shootings, compared to the long Memorial Day weekend that left nine dead and 60 injured. If that wasn’t depressing enough, almost 45% of Republican voters believe mass shootings are “inevitable” when living in our ‘free’ society, a stark contrast from 85% of Democrats and 73% of Independents who said mass shootings are preventable responding to the same poll.

“The first weekend of June had a greater number of mass shooting deaths in the United States than the previous three-day weekend, which ended with Memorial Day.

The tally for weekend violence through Sunday night was at least 12 killed and at least 38 injured in mass shootings, defined by the Gun Violence Archive as an incident in which “four or more people are shot or killed, not including the shooter.”

During the holiday weekend nine were killed and more than 60 were injured in attacks fitting that definition.” https://www.insider.com/poll-4-in-10-…

“More than 4 in 10 Republicans think mass shootings are inevitable in a “free society,” according to a new poll by CBS News and YouGov.

The survey results came on the heels of a string of mass shootings across the country that have prompted Congress to once again consider legislation on gun control.

One of the questions in the poll asked respondents if they feel that mass shootings are “unfortunately something we have to accept as part of a free society” or “something we can prevent and stop if we really tried.”

In response, 44% of Republicans said mass shootings are inevitable “as part of a free society.” Meanwhile, 85% of Democrats and 73% of Independents said mass shootings are preventable “if we really tried.””

NY Magazine Calls Feinstein “Mentally Compromised”

The founding fathers hated the idea of a political class ruling the country.   For them that was too close to a king and royalty.  They never wanted a permanent ruling class in the US instead they wanted a government for the people by THE PEOPLE.    She has been in public elected office for 52 years and before her impairment was made public she said she was going to run again.  WTF!  She is 89 years old.   Is there no younger people fit to lead the country, fit to hold those seats?   Think of it.  She started when she was 36 years old in 1969.  Can anyone her age really grasp the differences in the country as it is today, the needs of the people in their 20, 30, and even 40s?  Can she of the other nearly 90 year old people in congress relate to culture as the newer generations are living or do they still try to force the people to live in the hey day of their prime, the world they knew when they were 20, 30 or 40 years old?   How can someone who was 40 in the 1970’s relate to the modern world of 2022?  How can they understand the needs of society today, when the traditions they grew up with were so different?  Hugs

In the middle of their deep dive into Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s decades in office and her legacy, New York Magazine drops this observation:

Feinstein, who turns 89 in June, is older than any other sitting member of Congress. Her declining cognitive health has been the subject of recent reporting in both her hometown San Francisco Chronicle and the New York Times. It seems clear that Feinstein is mentally compromised, even if she’s not all gone. “It’s definitely happening,” said one person who works in California politics. “And it’s definitely not happening all the time.”

Reached by phone two days after 19 children were murdered in an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, in late May, Feinstein spoke in halting tones, sometimes trailing off mid-sentence or offering a non sequitur before suddenly alighting upon the right string of words. She would forget a recently posed question, or the date of a certain piece of legislation, but recall with perfect lucidity events from San Francisco in the 1960s.

Multiple explosions Sunday shake Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv

Explosions shook the city of Kyiv on Sunday morning after Russia launched its first attack in the capital in over a month. CBS News foreign correspondent Chris Livesay joins CBS News’ Ali Bauman with more on the attack.

At Charlie Kirk Event, Kyle Rittenhouse Hailed As “The Kind Of Man Women Should Be Attracted To”

This is how much the rabid right gun fetishists will go to prove their love of both racism and guns.   Pudgy boy child who took an illegal gun to a BLM protest with the idea of play a enforcement officer ordering people around until he ended up shooting three people, is their idea man?   This man has no other accomplishments in his life other than arrogantly trying to push people around and then shooting three people, killing two of them.    He is not famous for anything else but that.   Yet that alone makes him the alpha male in the rabid right wing gun circles.    Put the idea of rabid right wing Republican base members carrying guns at polling places in an all new light doesn’t it?    Hugs

“I just wanna introduce Kyle by saying this, we talk a lot about the kind of man you should want be attracted to. Men, your number one goal is to protect your family and to stand strong in the face of opposition from culture and evil. And Kyle Rittenhouse is a man who does that. God bless Kyle Rittenhouse.”

That’s how Rittenhouse was introduced this weekend at Charlie Kirk’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit. Rittenhouse then thanked the audience for being “strong women.”

Later at the event Rittenhouse claimed to be inspired by Johnny Depp to sue his online detractors and journalists for defamation.

Hey girls! Why don’t you date a murderer? I’m sure he won’t get jealous or stalk you or abuse you.

What murderer would?

By traveling to another state, and killing people who were of no threat to your family.

Shockingly, MAGAts’ taste in men is as ghastly as their taste in pretty much everything else…

“Strong Women” = can carry huge loads of groceries, laundry, etc. by themselves…so the husband won’t have to get his ass off the couch to help.

Performative trollery is all they’ve got and their new murder-mascot has no fucking clue he’ll likely end up dead of an OD someday in a seedy motel room, after they’ve discarded him.

You know what women really really love? Being told by pathetic little incels whom we should find attractive.

Matt Walsh Is Playing Dumb For Money

Does anyone remember Tildeb trying to claim that “Every biologist agrees that male  / female are determined by Gametes”?  I showed that it was clearly wrong.   Now I know where that comes from.   Hard right anti-LGBTQ+ dogma.  ***   Edited because I got the information wrong.  Thanks to Lilly who let me know I was wrong in the nicest manner I have ever been corrected.   Matt Walsh did not do these things to his own child, instead he has championed Jeff Younger who did do these things.  Matt Walsh does talk about this story and issue constantly in his crusade against trans people and his hate for trans genderism.  ***     Matt Walsh champions Jeff Younger who put his own child in the way of suicide to try to deny them their gender identity.    Jeff Younger has been in years long court battles with his female spouse who has custody of the child and is a pediatrician.   Jeff Younger has been so abusive to the child the court has stopped allowing him to have visitation with her.   Jeff Younger violated every court order to let the child socially transition including taking the child to have her hair cut very short against a court order to do that very thing, forcing her to wear pants and male oriented clothing, throwing out any of her female clothing, forbidding her and punishing her if she used female pronouns or her female chosen name.   Then when Jeff Younger lost more and more in court he pushed the rabid right wing maga crowd on his wife and child after three different child gender specialists agreed the child should be allowed to socially transition.   Jeff Younger is more than rabid; he is totally abusive to the ex-wife and the child.

Matt Walsh is also rabid against trans people and the idea of being trans at all.  He really has rage on this topic.   He seems driven.  This where that idea of gametes comes from.    So to those who think that Tildeb was an honest participant in the discussions on trans people, this sets the record correct.  Remember Matt Walsh is not a doctor nor biologist, he just plays one in his mind.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Walsh_(political_commentator)  Everything I on gamete and biology said turns out correct.    Hugs

Matt Walsh is garbage.

John Iadarola and Brett Erlich break it down on The Damage Report. Read more here: Matt Walsh used trans people’s Instagrams in his transphobic documentary—it’s already sending hate their way https://www.dailydot.com/debug/matt-w…

“A transgender man says that Matt Walsh is using his image without permission for a transphobic documentary. He also says that Twitter refused to remove the trailer for the documentary in which his photo appears.

The Daily Dot previously reported that Walsh was behind a fake company duping trans people into being interviewed for a documentary. Walsh tweeted the trailer for that documentary, What is a Woman?, on May 14. The right-wing site Walsh works for, the Daily Wire, produced it.

In a follow-up tweet, Walsh added that they intentionally chose to release the documentary on the first day of Pride Month.

Walsh is a conservative figure who often attacks people who don’t conform to his ideas of what comprises the proper expression of gender and sexuality. This year he’s been on a mission, in his words, to wage “an all out assault on gender ideology.”

To that end, he’s been working on an obviously insincere documentary that critics say will incite further transphobia in which he “investigates” how to define “woman.” Soon after Walsh released the trailer for What is a Woman?, a friend told Steph Kyriacou that it includes an image of him.”

Let’s talk about what it means to be a conservative….

This is a wonderful grand explanation of conservatism.   Regressive.   Well worth the read.   After watching it then argue with me about it if you disagree.   Hugs

14 Shot, 3 Dead, in Mass Shooting on South Street

https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/14-shot-3-dead-in-mass-shooting-on-south-street/3261464/

Why do we have to accept this?   If people cannot go out safely there will be no more economy and no more USA.   I watched a Republican in Congress use his time at the gun hearing to show a bunch of guns he claims to won and that restricting the magazine sizes would make the guns illegal.   That is wrong because the gun manufacturers would design small magazines that will fit those guns.   But he went on about his rights, the rules would take his rights, he would lose his freedom.   What the hell did the kids shot in their schools lose?  Did they have a right to live or the right to freedom?  What did the shoppers in Buffalo lose, did they lose their freedoms when they were shot to death?  What do the rest of us in the US lose when we are afraid to leave our homes because we may be shot?   What does every school kid lose that has nightmares and is afraid that this school day will be their last?  I am tired of a small minority that believes their right is to make the rest of us live in fear or face death and harm.   That is not a civil society.   Also notice another time police were right there, and people were still shot.  Plus even though relatively close the officer still missed.   Think of untrained armed bystanders all yanking their pistols out and starting firing?    Hugs

An officer saw several gunmen firing into a crowd of people on South Street in Philadelphia shortly before midnight, police said. That officer then fired his gun at one of the shooters

At least 14 people were shot, three of them killed, when gunmen fired into a crowd on a popular stretch of South Street in Philadelphia late Saturday night.

It happened on South Street between 2nd and 3rd streets shortly before midnight. Hundreds of people were out enjoying the night when officers said they heard multiple gunshots, then saw several gunmen firing into a crowd.

An officer fired his gun at one of the shooters, Philadelphia Police Inspector D. F. Pace said. It is not known if the suspect was struck; however, they did drop their gun and flee.

The officer was “within 10 to 15 yards of the shooter, watching this person shoot into the crowd” when he decided to engage, Pace said.

At least 14 people were struck by the barrage of gunfire, police said. Three of them, two men and a woman, were shot multiple times and died at the hospital.

“Once again, we see lives senselessly lost and those injured in yet another horrendous, brazen and despicable act of gun violence,” Mayor Jim Kenney said in a written statement Sunday morning. “My heart is with the family, friends, loved ones of those lost or injured, and with everyone impacted by this terrible tragedy.

South Street is a popular area in Philadelphia lined with restaurants, shops and bars. It is highly trafficked among both locals and tourists.

“There were hundreds of individuals just enjoying South Street, as they do every weekend, when this shooting broke out,” Pace said.

Pace said two guns were found at the scene, one of them with an extended magazine.

The search for the gunmen continued Sunday morning, police said. One of the shooters was last seen running south on American Street between 2nd and 3rd streets.

Police are hoping businesses along South Street captured the shooting on surveillance video.

“I want to emphasize that South Street is manned by numerous police officers,” Pace said. “This is standard deployment for Friday and Saturday night – weekends – and especially during the summer months.”

Philadelphia police said a separate shooting incident happened nearby around 11 p.m. Officers found 13 bullet casings at 4th and Bainbridge, a couple blocks away. Pace said investigators are looking into whether there’s a connection in the two shootings.

Last Tuesday, video captured the moments a woman and other gunmen opened fire on the 400 block of South Street – less than two blocks away from Saturday night’s shooting. One man was injured.

“Furious. I am furious, not just for my neighborhood, for the whole country. If I hear one more time ‘thoughts and prayers’ – bull—,” neighbor Maureen Long said through tears. “We cannot disagree about this. We have to do something. I don’t care what your political leanings are. We can’t continue to let people kill people.”

The Saturday shooting in Philadelphia is just the latest in a spate of mass shootings across the country.

In Buffalo, New York, a gunman killed 10 Black people and wounded three others at a supermarket in what authorities said was a racially motivated attack.  In Uvalde, Texas, another gunman killed 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School. In Oklahoma, a man killed four people and wounded several others inside a Tulsa medical building.

Data from the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive show that gun violence deaths more than doubled nationwide from 2018 to 2019, when such deaths totaled 39,572.

In the years since, gun violence deaths have only increased. There were 43,658 such deaths in 2020 and 44,957 in 2021, according to the GVA. Thus far in 2022, there have been at least 18,564 deaths related to gun violence across the United States, according to the group.

In Philadelphia, the toll of gun violence is not reserved to isolated mass shootings, however.

A gun violence tracker from the city controller’s office tallied 743 nonfatal and 188 fatal shooting victims as of June 2. Several shootings have occurred in the days since, with the number of fatal and nonfatal victims both sure to rise.

Shootings have accounted for the most killings in Philadelphia this year. The slight bit of positive news amid the carnage, though, is that killings as of Saturday night were at 211, down from the 225 seen at the same time in 2021, which finished as the year with the most murders since the city first began keeping record.

The recent high-profile shootings, though, have renewed calls for stricter gun control amid rising gun violence across the country.

President Joe Biden on Thursday acknowledged there is little left for him to do through executive action and called on Congress to pass legislation to tighten gun laws. While the Uvalde shooting renewed bipartisan talks about modest gun reforms, such talks have broken down in the past.

Meanwhile, legislators in Philadelphia are barred by Pennsylvania’s preemption law from enacting gun control statutes that are stricter than state laws.

“We cannot accept continued violence as a way of life in our country. Until we address the availability and ease of access to firearms, we will always be fighting an uphill battle,” Kenney said in his statement. “As Mayor, I will continue to fight to protect our communities and urge others to advocate for stronger laws that keep guns out of the hands of violent individuals.”
