Wear eye protection!

Then they arrest you for rioting, because it indicates you are expecting trouble. That’s what they do to people who bring respirators, too.

Even eyeglasses can be eye protecion without being obvious about it.
And that respirator thing reminds me of the Great Seattle protest of 1999, where protesters wore turtle costumes and the authorities fined and maybe jailed anyone who sold their gas masks. (there were a few in pawn shops and the army surplus stores in town, but selling these otherwise legal articles became an offense.)
I could tell you stories.

Now we’re getting down to the real nitty-gritty, why I find protesting counter-productive. I’ve been tear-gassed, both in and out of the Army. Ray-Bans and a bandana don’t cut it
And, it’s their invitation to trouble. If I want trouble I’ll start it …

Hi Ten Bears. For one of the first times I find myself disagreeing with you. The more the people see these protests and then the over the top reactions of ICE the more public dislike for ICE becomes. The momentum is building with each video of abuse against people that the public posts. Not everyone can be a one man army. You can handle yourself if push comes to shove, others would simply get hurt. If I tried to act like you suggest I would get hurt, which I am willing to do in a protest with other people defending our rights. It would mean something and the videos of it would be played everywhere. But being a lone causing trouble no one would know or understand why I was doing what I did to then be taken out. It would be a waste of effort in my mind. Or I may have totally misunderstood you. I do that so much these days, misunderstand things. Anyway, as always best wishes and hugs.

Hi Bruce. Agreed. They will twist reality to get what they want because it is what tRump has done all his life. And because he has power those with no moral compass and hoping for a wealthier future they will do and say anything to keep in his good gracias. Hugs

Hi Bruce. While I understand your point the people in the US still have the right to dress and wear what ever protective equipment they want. For example I can wear a scuba tank, wetsuit, and fins even if I never get near water. As is in the news right now it would be an easy win for selective persecution I would think. But you do have a good point, but remember the white guys who brought electric leaf blowers to the BLM protests to blow the gas back at the police? They were never charged. Of course sad to say that was a more sane time. Hugs

Key observation:
It seems crazy to think back on that time as ‘more sane’ but it most definitely was.

Hi MDavis. Yes also gas masks as the ICE are shooting at anyone indiscriminately that they think is not supporting them. Hugs

Hi MDavis. YES! Plus head protection and if like me you got used to wearing a gas mask get one of those. These ICE are lawless and you don’t know if they are bounty hunters working for money on each brown body they drag in regardless of status or if they are proud Boy white supremacists who got pardoned for Jan 6th attack on the US capital. We have to admit we have a lawless government doing lawless stuff and daring people to challenge them. The public that does could be disappeared before they get relief or a day in court, several citizens were sent to the El Salvador prison. Oppsie. We are in a really dangerous place. My husband keeps telling me we need to buy guns. While both of us had carry permits in the past, we are old and both of us shake so from our different conditions trying to fire a gun at a target would literally be hit or miss for us. And I was a really good shot in the Army. But I know now a gun wouldn’t be a good thing if I was forced to use it. I have a doctor telling me I need a neurologist because she is sure I have Parkinson’s and some days I can’t do things because my hands shake so bad. So yes let me take up arms in the name of the republic. Hugs
